I'm 99.5% positive this has to do with directories and where the particle effect is looking for the appropriate textures. I can even tell you the folder it's looking for, but I'm not sure where that folder is or why it works with stock Sins particles yet. Before I change anything else, I'd like to get some feedback on my other particle project to see how it's working for others.
All of the Borg weapon effects and explosions were brand new as of the last patch. If they work for everyone then I can make the same adjustments to the other weapon effects. Please let me know if any Borg particle effects aren't working for you so I can address the issue.
In the meantime, you might want to check that all of your Sins-related files are installed in the recommended location with the correct directory tree, especially leading to the mod. (Example: Local Disk C:/users/YOUR USER NAME/AppData/Local/Ironclad Games/Sins of a Solar Empire/Mods-Entrenchment v1.05/SOA2/ALL MOD FILES)
I'd need to see a picture of these vanishing starbase textures to have some idea of what you're talking about, but the team color issue has been addressed in the past. All new textures have the appropriate settings to avoid this; however, please TURN OFF your MESH TEAM COLOR setting (which is below the mesh highlight filter setting) to resolve this issue with older, unmodified textures.
Finally, are you positive you're using the latest update of the mod? I'm 110% certain I fixed the texture issue with the Tactical Cube before it was released. Plus I just checked again to make sure I wasn't spreading internet lies.
I'm installing this on Windows 7 and a vista machine, and I keep getting a corrupt cab file. 7-zip is also telling me that the Cab is corrupted.
I'll try a fresh download, but has anyone else seen this issue?

I can almost bet money the disapearing texture problem is in the PipelineEffect folder which shouldnt be in the mod to begins with. Back it up, remove it and see what happens. I have no clue what was modded in there. In the 0.03c series the PipelineEffect gave us a major headache, and was more trouble to mod than it was worth. Which is why i removed it for the 0.4 series. How it got back in there i have no idea.
Team if the PipelineEffect folder must be there can you make a list on sync of what was modded in that folder, and make sure that the files in there are from 1.05, and not an older version of sins.
I corrected the borg textures AGAIN yesterday. The textures that were configured for older versions of sins keep finding their way back into our dev build. Team check them and make sure they are the correct ones this time. This is telling me our work is being overwritten on sync.
Ok I tried to extract the install on my housemates computer, the install got further before I got a corrupt disk1.cab file and the install failed. I've tried downloading the file twice now with the same issue. Is there a mirror download somewhere to try?
I am checking the download now, I will upload a RAR version of the mod that you will have to manually install soon.
Never mid.. Uploading SoA 2 0.4.2E now so today is patch day.
It's funny that you mention the Pipeline folder, Stress. A couple of us have discussed the folder and couldn't figure out why it was there, because every one of those files was last updated on the same day in January 2008. I'm personally assuming that means it's all stock stuff and can be deleted.
Also, what are you changing about the borg unit textures? If files are being overwritten, that could explain why I keep hearing that textures I fixed weeks ago are occassionally getting screwed up. For the moment, the three borg unit textures all look fine.

Ive put the file in Entrenchments mod folder, shows up in the mods but when i activate it nothing happens, still TEC, Advent, etc, help?
PipelineEffect is removed, Old texture problem fixed. plus other misc bug fixes and tweaks.
Check your mod installation and make sure there isnt another SoA 2 folder inside of the main soa2 folder. if there is just move the inside folder to mods-entrenchment v.105 then delete the empty soa2 folder. Rar and the installer has a nasty habit of doing that.

I was having this same problem when I first tried to use the installer. Just change it's installation destination to something else (I set mine to the desktop). Than you have to manually take the folder it installs, and place it here:
Local Disk C:/users/YOUR USER NAME/AppData/Local/Ironclad Games/Sins of a Solar Empire/Mods-Entrenchment v1.05/
Also make sure to take the mod folder out of the one that the installer places on your desktop. The folder it installs will be named something like SOA2 0.4, but inside it will be another folder that is calledSOA2 0.4E NEW. Move SOA2 0.4E NEW to the location I described above.
You will also have to enable "show hidden files" to place it properly. Myfist0 gave perfect instructions at this post:

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there seems to be an error. When I go to extract the rar into my mod folder it won't fully extract because it says "data error in 'SOA2 0.4.2.E\TEXTURES\Romulan_V7Whitewind-cl.dds' file is broken" I skipped that file and checked that's the only one that's bad. Everything else extracts fine.
I just got something about "Whitewind_Romulan" being broken when I unzipped the file...any ideas?

The file i uploaded is fine. It extracts perfectly, and the mod loads without a single pop up error. i will re-upload it again just to make sure it didnt get corrupt during the upload process. Ill let you know when its done so you can re-download it. This will take about 2 hours
However as a temporary fix if you have the older version of the mod just copy that texture into the new version, and replace the corrupt texture. Nothing was changed about it between versions.

First post, although I have been following this mod, and the original for Homeworld, for a while now. Excellent work, thanks for allowing us to be a part of it.
I updated my laptop to 1.05 to get the newest patch, and I too had the corrupt file issue, but had already copied the previous version's copy into the new one. I have been unable to play the new version for more than 15 minutes without a minidump, could I have done something wrong in the installation? My desktop has not been updated, so I still have the previous version to play, but I would really like to see the new effects for the Borg. Is anyone else getting the minidumps?
Ok guys I am sorry.. Filefront = FAILURE. 3 times i tried to re-upload the mod, and it got kicked back as an error. So assume that the current download is corrupt. Jaytlrpcs will upload it later to his host. I dont know why it is doing this other than file front is being retarded.
Other than assuming that the file is no good.. When you got the dump did it give any indication at all of what was wrong? Run it on Entrenchment Developer.exe (should be in your sins directory). Make a note of any pop up errors (skip as needed) then look in the "Debug" folder for that games debug log. Should be in the SotSE directory where the mod folders are. Any errors should be listed in the debug log. Sometimes sins dumps leaving no error log at all. We need to know this too.

Ok, I have a small suggestion, can you add something that will make the federation cap ship factory more different, maybe just adding a strip to the factory texture might do it.
Ok Major, ran the game again in the developer, although I am not sure what I am actually reading in the debug log. Can you tell me specifically what to look for? The last thing the log shows is an auto save followed by a log of me changing the game speed back from 8x to 1x. Apologies for my lack of computer savy.
Baically if an error haapens it will be in the log like texture missing yada yada, d3d is out of memory yada yada null x has damage assigned but no point yada yada.
Lack of computer savy may be whats causing these problems as well. Make sure the mod is installed correctly, In your case the fact it loads means it is installed correctly.
What i find that helps is if you delete the entire "irongclad games" folder in your appdata and let sins create a new one when you run it again. Back up your mods first before you do this.
Still until we say otherwise assume the current download is no good. I tested the build thrice over, and i get no errors at all so something happened on the upload. I cant re-upload the file on any server. So my internet is being retarded. We will have to wait untill Jaytlrpcs gets back online so he can upload from his end.
We are working on a mesh for the elite shipyard. We just used the frigate yard as a placeholder.
I replaced the one corrupted file from the .4E New version, and ran it for maybe 30 minutes or so in the Dev.exe and got no errors, playing as the borg.
