P.S. - To the devel team - sorry I'm completely AWOL, but I'm digging out from under SNOWPACALYPSE here (I live in the DC area).  I've got about 24" of snow on my front lawn, drifts to over 36", having a bear of a time keeping the driveway clear, can't hardly get to the mailbox, and have another 10" to 20" on the way in the next day or so according to the national weather service.  What's even worse?  The liquor store down the street is worried that their roof will cave in (apparently, the pizza place up the way already had their roof totally let go and the store is destroyed)!  Crap, where am I gonna to go get my fix?

Between clearing the driveway non-stop and wrapping myself up in cozzie-blankets to warm up in between, I'm pretty well spent.  I swear, I'll submit some Cap Ship abilities soon, but I have to warm up and/or sober up first.

Just got done with a 5 faction unfair aggressive AI test of the Fortune Favors the Bold map. AI performed flawlessly (other than the typical sins AI stupidity) All factions built up pretty much equally, and surprisingly the klinks and romulans allied with each other while the dominion, and borg remained hostile toward everyone. Though i think its just a coincidence.

All AI factions fought to a literal stalemate, and i surrendered the feds to watch the other factions after i built them up enough to defend themselves. Then the borg started expanding into the alpha quadrant areas. Some fireworks galore, and massive battles took place then. Still no one gained or lost any ground. I had to quit after watching for 2 hours of watching a relentless war of attrition between the AI's. Got the recording and it should make for some nice vids. I can safely say that maps a keeper, but why did you make saturn a volcanic world? venus should have been volcanic while saturn should have been a gas giant like jupiter.

I'm having a technical problem.  For some reason, the Fed. photon torpedos are white squares.  I assume some particle effect is missing, and I don't know why.

I downloaded this mod the other day and I have to say it's totally awesome. Now I'm really not a major Star Trek fan, but this mod is great and has me hooked. Many thanks for all your hard work.

It turns out that version of the map is a relatively early build with a few mistakes (balancing, names, planets etc). I dont know why I made Venus a desert planet but I have changed it now; and I made Saturn volcanic for gameplay purposes. I wish I had the time and patience to learn to mod Sins, I dabbled with Rome and Medieval Total War back in the day, but now I just make fan maps for sacrifice of angels 2 instead.

 

I uploaded a newer version of my map on one of the older threads, but here it is again now with Venus as a Volcanic planet ;]. Random starting positions and more phase lanes for more strategic choices.

I am thinking of making a chokepoint map about the battle of wolf 359, are there any detailed and HD star trek star maps available for a source point? The inclusion of the borg in this release has reminded of epic TNG episodes.

Snowed here in London yesterday but didn't settle.

Just put 'Zonek' in the credits. I made the map entirely for SOA2 but it can't really be compared to the effort put in by the actual modding team.

I think the problem with the scimmy is that there isn't going to a limit of how many you can build (if it were to be include as the Rommies) however, I can see this a rogue pirate ship instead

Well, besides it's a supership... I think it could be argued the Scimitar wasn't Romulin, it was Reman... I'm not sure they really specified in the Movie...

@Strikestorm49- Besides the fact that it is a REMAN ship, it was an only prototype with massive firepower and planet destroying technology.  Yeah, THAT would be perfect for this mod (along with Species 8472 death star abilities) :rolleyes: .

As for Reman technology guys, is there any plan on using the Scorpion-Class fighters that were stationed on board the Scimitar for Romulan fighters?  After all, aren't the Reman the thralls of the Romulans?

@just_jim- Although maybe cool to watch, not very practical since we cannot recreate the abilities to destroy planets (at best the Scimitars "Thalaron Radiation" emmiters would be easier, since the ability would just do MASSIVE planetary pop damage), but would anyone want to be on the receiving end of something like that?  I dunno about you, but no other faction has any weapons that are comparable to that.

Battle of Wolf 359 v.1

The Battle of Wolf 359 took place in 2367 in the Wolf 359 system, roughly eight light years from Earth, between the forces of the United Federation of Planets and the Borg Collective. It is recorded as one of the most destructive battles in Federation history prior to the Dominion War.

Small 3 vs 1 chokepoint map

The Borg start in a very strong position and have been sighted moving towards the Federation key planets, can the Federation, Klingon Expeditionary Force and Romulan Anti-Borg Task Force halt the advance of the Borg at Wolf 359 or the very heart of the Federation will be assimilated.

It hasn't been tested properly so tell me what you think. Alternatively you could replace the single player with Dominion/Klingons etc for a different theme.

You need to blow some of that white stuff further west :grin: .  My kids were very dissappointed yesterday when the NWS was calling for 6" and all we got was flurries all day with nothing sticking.

 

In the mean time you need to get with the manager of the liquor store and convince him to "store" some merchandise in a safer location (your home would be perfect  :grin: ).

Actually to be perfectly honest i can limit the scimitar to one ship per game no problem. ;P

The reman people now enjoy full benefits of being  a Romulan citizen in the mods timeline.

Loving the mod, the borg are intense!!!
I like the map, but the only reason I honestly don't play it is because when you pull back far enough to see the layout of a few systems at once to maybe strategize some... you get that white haze that obscures everything.  I like how the different systems are compartmentalized and the familiar names though.

Oh I know... i just think it would be cool to watch a planet explode!!!  But if one side has a planet killer, then everyone should get one... I don't think that would be too cool...

Wow, this is only a beta?! This mod is incredible! The detail even at this stage is far beyond most other mods. Absolutely loving it.

Only issue I have so far is that metal asteroids seem to either not work properly, or there aren't nearly enough of them. I just ended a game with 65,000 crystal and 5,000 metal...that's not right.

Why inst the Remun Scimitar, 8472, The Prometheus, The NX-01, The Edsilprise, Q, etc. etc. in the mod. Let me put it in terms the younger generation can understand... They are cheesy, and GAY... (major sarcasim intended).

Seriously, The Scimitar as stated above was unique, and way too OP for the mod. Even for the Borg because if its ridiculous fire while cloaked. Yet another Killer B trademark. Along with damn near every trek episode having to do with time travel, and solving every problem with technabble instead of their brains. Besides that is one UGLY ship. Mix between a BAT and Jemmy Devastator. (hurls). The scorpion fighters are just as ridiculous as the Scimitar.

Prometheus same thing too OP, though know i did actually consider adding the ship at one point to fight the borg.

8472 self explanatory... As with uberships. We do not add Uber races. I still think the killer B's made 8472 just so they could make the Borg look like a bunch of retarded jack in the box's. They already screwed them up by adding the queen. Hell if we included 8472 we might as well add Q as well.

While we are including ships from Enterprise, They are only the alien ships, and they are not in the original roles that you saw in the show. The V-1 Starglider (aka 22nd century romulan warbird), Colony ship. The D-4 Predator (aka 22nd century John Eaves concept klink battlecruiser), Scout, and the Klingon Raptor which we are demoting to an honorless civilian trade ship. Before someone asks NO we are not using the 22nd century bird of prey. I picked those ships because i like the designs, and they can fit in the late 24th century. One thing we will NOT do is add 22nd century Federation (earth) ships. The feds have plenty of 23rd century+ era ships.

Each ship was carefully hand picked for the role it was given. That which fit the best without looking totally absurd. Some ships were reluctantly left out, because there literally is no room for them. Especially for the Federation. If we screw around, and add extra ship slots then we screw up the AI even worse than what it already is. Some will say "So what? I only play MP anyway". That is not how we want it to be, because there are those that do not play MP... Like me.

The mod ship lineups are set in stone. The ships we picked are there for a reason, and not just for looks.

I'm just saying, they're there, they are technically canon and I am sure there are plenty of skins available (on the net) for them.  Whatever you all decide, it's your call, and I won't hold it against you :grin: .
