Hey guys, how much of the research UI have you done? Because I'm tweaking the files right now to include Starfleet pips for the supply ranks, but was wondering if I'd tread on one of the mod team's toes if I got carried away? I'll obviously give you lot anything I do manage to get done, but the research lists look pretty generic to me right now.
will the patch be released today or are there more serious problems with it?
As regards to the patch, when you people release it, can you release a version that doesn't require a program to install it, there are people here who know how to install patches for themselves so and do not want a program do it for them.... maybe a rar and a msi version please....
Guys, here are the "pipped" versions for the Fed/Dominion Fleet Supply Usage (got nothing for their cap ship upgrades I'm afraid, but at least the fed get pips for the supply usage.)

Don't know if you guys will like/ want to use them, but if you do just put them into the Textures folder. They're not fab, but I personally feel they're better than the stock sins one.
Yeah, if it'll save bandwidth especially, I don't need an installer... just the .rar like usual is fine.
-GOOD NEWS-
-Good News Regarding Entrenchment 1.05-
Stardock released version 1.05 of Entrenchment recently, and the existing mod created for version 1.041 (SoA2 0.4E) is not affected. This means that SoA2 players can update Sins and Entrenchment without any problems. However, keep reading...
-Good News Regarding SoA2 0.4E-
Initially, we had wanted to get a patch or new version of the mod out before the Entrenchment update. Once we found the update was coming this week, we changed gears to prepare to "fix" whatever got "broken" with the Entrenchment patch.
However, based on the fact that the Entrenchment update has not affected this mod, we have decided to announce the:
-Official Release of Sacrifice of Angels 2 0.4E.1-
-A Star Trek Mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Entrenchment-
NOTE: This link is to an automatic installation program. Due to pressing time, it extracts to your mods directory for Entrenchment 1.041 instead of 1.05 (we could have fixed it...in anther few hours; figured you wouldn't mind). You have to switch the directory yourself (instructionsabove).
This revision to the mod:
- Fixes problems with Federation Capital Ships becoming invincible due to shield mitigation adjustments
- Fixes the balance problem resulting from the overpowered Klingon colonizer capital ship
- Fleshes out Romulan and Dominion Capital Ship abilities, making each race more unique and exciting
- Fleshes out the Borg, making them a powerful race able to establish the massive bulwark that is...

The Unicomplex!
Maybe I am doing something wrong here but...
I tired that dl link for Sacrifice of Angels 2 0.5E and first off the folder after installation reads SOA2 0.4E and then when I enable the mod I can only select the stock races.

The name didn't get updated, but the new link is, in fact, for 0.5E
Sorry for the confusion. As of the time that message was posted, ALL download links go to the version of SoA2 that is being released as 0.5E, regardless of the name the installer gives it.
Now for some strategy regarding the borg...
- You Rule: If you don’t die early, you should rule the map. Thus, the rule is: don’t die early.
- Be Borg sparingly:
- The larger the map, the longer before you can encounter an enemy player. The longer the game goes, the better your odds. Never use the borg on a small map unless you’re looking for a huge challenge and/or embarrassing defeat.
- If the map has a lot of phase lanes into your planets, the borg are a bad bet against a veteran player. You probably can’t build enough Unicomplexes to cover all routes, and even a small fleet of low-tier enemy ships can wreak havoc on you by blowing up your orbital structures, setting you back a lot of time due to the resources it will take to re-build them. Watch out for cat-and-mouse games where someone runs into your system, blows up a station or two, and moves on before you can put together a counter-force. If that happens to you more than twice or so, well, resistance is futile: you’re hosed.
- Specific Strategies:
- Get an ally or two: More than anyone else, the Borg become much more powerful on a team. Due to the borg’s weakness early on, a teammate can help protect you and give you money for those expensive research stations. In return, all they ask is that you build a Unicomplex someplace convenient for them. That’s a bloody good trade.
- Careful with your colonizer: The Queen’s Diamond is the colonizer cap ship you’ll get for free, but it’s not very powerful as cap ships go. It’s fine for taking on the locals (at least in this release), but you’ll know when you hit an enemy fleet with a cap ship. It’s a valuable ship, don’t lose it.
- Protect your orbital structures: The borg stations, especially the research stations, are much more expensive. Don’t lose them or you’ll be kicking yourself.
- Don’t feel too badass: So you think you’re all bad, now that you built your 8 military research stations, researched a huge cube, and built one (how long did that take, Mr. Cybernetic Methuselah?)? Think again. All the while, your opponent has been cranking out starships, upgrading them left and right, and, oh, colonizing the rest of the galaxy. You send that bad boy in solo, you’re itchin’ for an adjustment. Your cube isn’t invincible.
- Hide behind your Unicomplex: If you have a map with choke points, just build the Unicomplex at the edge of your space. If fences make for good neighbors, the Unicomplex makes even the worst enemy into a good neighbor.
Is it realy that hard to change the name of a file? I mean seriously, its just two clicks to prevent a lot of confusion.
Is it really that hard to follow directions, or is life not complete until you complain
?
Classic.
someone break the thread?
Thanks Mystic.
Alright fella's, I have bad news. I have downloaded the installer 3 seperate times now and each time I have tried to install it, it comes back with an error saying:
the cabinet file 'disk1.cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package
Is there any way that you could post a .zip version like you used to (never had trouble installing those), or redoing the installer?
Thanks guys
.
Got it working thanks.
Been playing ME2 so this is the first time I actually sat down and played. Well what can I say, very immersive experience and the amount of effort put it in obvious and much appreciated. My only gripe is the same as I had before, it involves the addition to how ships fly around now (I'm not sure what it is called. Before they used to just stand toe to toe and duke it out and now they circle each other). I tried the Borg and my Cube just runs the CPU's cap ships off the map and I just kill it as it tries to get enough distance to turn around (which it never does). All the cruisers are circling me and I can fire in all directions at them (I assume the cubes are designed to have weapon points on all sides so no problem for the Borg) and that looks very cool save for their captial ship turning tail and heading for the hills.
Is there a way I can just disable this or would I have to go into each and every ship file and disable this?
Started playing a game as borg. Thoughts on the unicomplex = Holy sh**. 11 upgrades... so much power... (mouth waters)
Glad to see it in the mod now, and also glad to see a killable federation! great job on the mod guys, truly there is no greater.
EDIT: Just noticed that each upgrade adds on more pieces to the structure. That is so amazing... Loki, i love your work with the borg. I dont think there is anyone who could have done them better.
OMG! The Unicomplex has over 5K of firepower at the start... now that is something to fear...
Nice job.
BTW, were the borg research stations made to cost more tritanium and dilithium as a way to slow their expansion?
Does anyone want to send me a copy?

The installer works fine I believe it may be due to download conditions. I would recommend doing a reboot and try downloading again. I have had no such issue in my tests of the installer that I downloaded from the same exact link. We went thru the extra trouble of putting into a installer to avert issues just like this, but alas fate called. We cant release a new installer tonight . hope this helps
thanks jtaylorpcs
Not to step on anyones toes for their good work, but you have the naming convention of the mod kinda screwed up, and pre-mature.
The download should be named 0.4E.1, and the mod should remain in the 0.4E series until I can build a new foundation (which should be easy now that we have a template). Only after a new foundation is built then we can move on to the 0.5 series. I think its great that the patch doesnt effect the mod, but i dont trust it, and i dont want to take chances.
The plan for the 0.4E, and/or D series is bug fixing, balance tweaks, to finish filling the remaining empty ship/structure slots.
0.5E/D we will start replacing all of the 3rd party placeholder work with the SoA 2 Teams original artwork. As was the original plan.
the 0.6-0.9 series will be more fixing, adding, replacing, and balacing.
1.0 will be the final release.
In 0.4E/D we will use the same .1, .2, .3 etc. naming system until we are ready for 0.5E/D
Naming system of mod changed back to 0.4E series. The current version of SoA 2 is 0.4E.1. Sorry if this caused any confusion.
Found a bug, the Borg can build Romulan V-8 Warbirds right from the start.
That's not a bug, it's a placeholder. A portion of the Borg is just placeholder stuff cause the content isn't ready
Fantastic job guys, really a treat to play
I'm lucky I have a job where all I do is mess around on my computer. Mass Effect 2 has been taking up so much of my time!
Hello QuicktoDraw i had the same problem and all i did was change the path of the installer to (C:) Drive and install, then look for a folder called SOA2 0.4E NEW and paste to mods- Entrenchment v 1.05 hope it works for you.
Thanks I_LOVE_YOU, (I love you!!) what you suggested worked!
Yeah, I had tried everything like that Jtaylor, but none of that worked (I even tried installing it to the original 1.041 mods and it was giving me this error), so to anyone else with this problem, I reccommend following I_LOVE_YOU's advice
.
