Ideas for a Community Theme Project - Holiday Edition

Ideas for a Community Theme Project - Holiday Edition

I have been wanting to help organize a new community theme project for quite a while.  With the holidays rapidly approaching, and the fact that Christmas is one of the most popular skinning holidays, I would like to propose a community project around that.

What do you say?

My idea, subject to further input from the community.

Christmas/Winter Holiday Theme Pack

This would include at the minimum:

  • WindowBlinds theme
  • DesktopX Theme
  • DesktopX Gadgets
  • CursorFX theme
  • Dreams
  • RightClick Skins
  • Icons (IP or just some dock icons)
  • Wallpapers

At the end this would all be wrapped up in a Theme Manager suite.

My thought is a minimal-type theme that will appeal to a broad range of people, yet have a big influence of holiday colors or design.

What we need?

I need a Project Manager who will help coordinate skinners and their activities.

We also need ideas for a unique name plus design ideas.

September 28th Update:

Here is the current list of people who have signed up to participate.  Aside from the WindowBlinds theme as we want to keep it consistent, several people can create themes of the same type as long as they stay within the theme.

Current skinners list:

WindowBlinds – Xiandi (Completed)

DX Theme – Redneckdude

DX Gadgets – Redneckdude, Island Dog

Dreams – CarGuy1

Theme Manager Suite – Philly0381

ObjectDock – MIrsguy

RightClick – Mirsguy, bk13GarbageMan

Wallpaper – DEVJIT, skyzyk

Sysmetrix – Fuzzy Logic

Vista Logons - skyzyk

Screensavers – Jimbo9294

CursorFX – ChaosMoth

If I missed anybody, or if anything needs to be updated just let me know.

That is a possibility. Anyone else have an idea?

How about a cherry lifesaver...lol?

The start menu looks great now 5*

An idea for the start button: a snowflake. I know it's been done before in Winter theme if I'm not wrong, but they are so many different shapes of snowflakes out there:

And plus you could add some gold sparkles in it to make it more original ;)

And one more thing to add: I think the start menu should be moved a little bit more on left because it's not on the same line with the begining of the taskbar. Just saying :X

I think a snowflake is a good idea. It's all looking great!

I think a snowflake is a good idea, but, I like my wreath idea better because there needs to be a contrasting color here and there. The snowflake, at least the above flake, is about the same color as the taskbar and start panel. I think we need another color for the start button.  Just a redneck opinion.

Just a redneck opinion.

I didn't know redneck's knew anything about color coordination! I'll bet you color-coordinate your socks with your bib-overalls now, don't you? :w00t:

Since I only skin on my days off from work, it will take a little while. ;)   However, I got alot done in the past few days and Vista will be ready for testers by next Tuesday or Wednesday.

I need a "please  wait" animation or image or something....any suggestions? I have to do animations the hard way (frame by frame in photoshop) so keep it fairly simple.....or volunteer to make it for me. ;P

lookin really nice... a spinning snowflake would be easy.. could even do quite a detailed one.. rather simply if it just spun...

or a few blinking xmas lights on a string fading off on either end would look lovely.. and easy to do..

if all else fails... how about a nice Christmas sausage ! :D

Ringing bells would be nice, but probably not easy.  :\

Suggestion for "please  wait" animation: a simple 'please wait' text made of gold and silver (just like the skin) with a little sparkles animation here and there :)
