Some would call that insider trading. I'm not sure how you would expect us to take the word of a person who is willing to break company policy in this manner. Also, unless the guy is some kind executive in a really high position in UPS with access to financial information that can indicate what you mentioned, I wouldn't take their word either, because I too worked for UPS before.
With suspicion I'm sure, but hey, I provided a basis for my words, instead of just making wild claims without any sort of support. However, I completely and utterly trust the source and I'm pretty finicky with things like that.
Actually, Obama's point about his mention of USPS vs FedEx and UPS was that the USPS is a Gov't run program yet private programs such as UPS and FedEx florished just fine. This was to rebunk the idea that Gov't run Healthcare (which ironically they claim will not be Gov't run Healthcare) will put private insurance companies out of business or something of that nature that in reality (according to the Obama Administration) it will be an alternative not the only option.
That's one interpretation Charles, one of many that are possible.Could you provide the specific section, statement, et al. that says that the system will be the only? He was right though, UPS and FedEx do well despite having a socialized government program up and running.
Tell me AJ, how come is it that I understood Obama's "very stupid" comment better than you did? Also, using such a concept of Gov't run vs private run to make Gov't run look good is a bad idea when using a Gov't run program that is failing compared to private run programs basically proving to people the Gov't failed compared to the private sector (which has been and can be proven time and again). Now if you chose to ignore or dismiss this that's fine, but facts are facts and Obama gave the facts that he can not take back and you can not ignore because they are now inconvenient.
I get his point Charles, I'm not saying that I don't. I even agreed that his comment wasn't bright. However, as with anything said or written - there are many possible interpretations. One can just go with what they think is the right one with the information that is available. Learn to read, all right? I'm tired of saying things and then having people ignore what I said and nit pick other parts. Jebus H. Crisco!
I'm sorry AJ but that is a lame attempt at staying on the side lines. This is not about listening to more or not, what else is there to say or hear? The info is out there for you to read, reread, watch, listen, understand, question, digest and absorb. Obama has made enough Town Hall meetings, TV interviews, commercials, websites and televised speeches explaining, reiterating (not to mention attacking, blaming, scolding and asking to move aside), repeating and regurgitating his reasons why we should pass this reform. If you are not in favor or against at this point then you have no clue what you want for this country making you comments and opinions somewhat useless.
Make a stand already. I made mine and most others have made theirs. Obama sure has made his already. I can give him that much.
First off, I'm still forming mine. Secondly, "I agree every opinion shoudl matter, even if it's from some snobby actor or stupid singer." (You said that.) Thirdly, I'm a peace maker, a compromiser, and at this moment I'm looking for a way that could bring both sides of this issue together. I don't believe that either side's suggestion is right completely, and so...again, I'm still forming an opinion on it. In fact, I'm currently looking at the concept of whether or not health care is a right, versus being a mere luxury/commodity.
So please, don't push me into making a stand that I'm not yet ready to make, or I will push back.
I can bete there are just as many who don't want Union in FedEx and I can also bet some people in UPS would rather not have a Union. I should know, I worked there before.
I'm sure there are. I've always felt that people should have clauses in the contracts that say that if they wish to opt out of the union, they can. Some people want to, and some don't. Personally, I think the clause would help for people like myself who was in a union they did not like. I hated it because they just didn't listen, whereas another i was in was fine in my opinion.
