Elemental:WoM on Twitter!

Elemental:WoM on Twitter!

'But Guys...what are you working on THIS SECOND?!'

http://twitter.com/teamelemental

I really like writing journals for you guys, but I have a problem where, if I dont have time to construct something interesting (with videos or picts), I tend to focus on other tasks. This isn't a lazyman excuse, I jsut don't want to shortchange our fans.

Anyways, I found Twitter to be a great in-between for anyone that wants to be kept in the loop but dosen't mind their info presented sans-excitement.

This is the first week we have everyone back from the Demigod time-vortex, so we're shifting from basic 'feature implementation' to the 'polishing the game' portion of development.

Feel free to hop aboard and join our day-to-day!

Umm... couldn't you have made a special dev post to record what you have done each day? You could write down what you have been doing (when it happens) into a text file, and at the end of each day, post the contents of this text file into this special post?

Jeeze, people, it's seriously just a webpage!  Why all the hate!? :S

I could have, but that's still 5 minutes at the end of the day when I'm wrappin stuff up and trying to make the rounds to check tasks. Plus, I don't find a list of 'what got done' to be particularily special...the point of this is to keep people informed on the day-to-day as things happen. Some users like that (like me), some don't, and they can wait until a beefy journal entry to see how everything is progressing.  It's just a matter of how you like your imformation :)

Whenever something becomes the new fad amongst the social networking crowd and the media, it draws immediate backlash from the more tech savvy people. Twitter is a particular target because its commonly used by emo kids who speak the language formerly known as English.

What you're seeing is a lot of that. Give it about two days and people will get over it, then the updates will be appreciated for what they are. :)

Twitter works for me. Thanks for the updates.

Especially if 'reasonable' forum folks will be kind enough to post the occasional summary for those of us with uncontrollable Twitter-twitches. Hint-hint.

~~~ (since I've given up on the "Quote" feature that never works without massive retyping)
We'll see if we can coordinate somebody from IRC to do that... mostly the people in IRC are pretty good at reposting links of Dev Blogs and Screenshots posted from non-Elemental places (Demigod places seem to be popular) so that the Elemental crowd can get the information as well.
I don't do these vile social networking things.  It's bad enough having messenger programs that let people talk to me.
People can bookmark this forum and check it whenever they want. :thumbsup:
People cannot bookmark the Twitter page for Elemental and check it whenever they want. o_O
Don't worry, BoogieBac, effort apreciated.;)
I don't care much for Twitter in general but I use it all the time to follow certain companies for updates.
So I have a Twitter account and rarely actually post anything.  I don't follow anyone to see what they had for lunch.
I DO follow companies like Stardock and people like Zoomba and Frogboy to get the latest updates on games and patches.
I DO follow a couple local newspapers/radio stations to get local news.
I DO follow a few NFL related people, including the NFL commish and PR guy to get the latest NFL news.
Basically you can use Twitter as a great new aggrigator and nothing more.
Just to clarify for everyone: you don't need to join Twitter to subscribe to the TeamElemental feed.  Just use an RSS reader to subscribe to it.  I have a LiveBookmark in Firefox updating it, and it's working very nicely.  I am not, nor am I likely to ever become, a Twit Tweet Twitterwhererer whatever.
I think yatzee (zero punctuation) says it best.   "fans are annoying complaining dip-sh*ts who will never be greatful for any consession you make"   and its true.  no matter how you do the updates, somebody's going  to complaign.   Anyway, I personally am on the side of the fence that does not like twitter, but I'm willing to give it a try if  it means I get updates on a regular basis.
Aaaaaaaahaaaaaaa. It's a bird! A tiny blue bird!
Man that has been stressing me out. I only now understood what the blue little thing at the bottom of the sword was. Been annoying the hell out of me since the Dev. Journal came up.
:omg:
The bird is really just over-compensating.
At first I thought it was some kind of water elemental sprite, "holding" the sword in it's "hands" (the bird's wings) but it all just looked very wierd.
It still looks wierd, and it still doesn't make sense to me, but now I at least know (or think I know).
It makes perfect sense if you know that that bird is the Twitter mascot.
...with a giant flaming sword strapped to the side of it in an ill-fitting manner.
I told you, it has to compensate for its small, uh, birdhood.
My first impression of Twitter: Someone describing their vomit. Went downhill after that, so I never cared for it afterwards.
I did that that to a friend once but he wasn't interested in listening :\
I like the Twitter updates.
I like the updates. I just don't like Twitter.
So picky for a guy who sleeps with bears rather indiscriminantly.
Somehow this seems so appropriate :) I have to admit the twitter updates leave me feeling a bit envious. Here I'm writing rather dull code watching updates from TeamElemental and thinking that looks like a lot more fun to code...
