Elemental:WoM on Twitter!

Elemental:WoM on Twitter!

'But Guys...what are you working on THIS SECOND?!'

http://twitter.com/teamelemental

I really like writing journals for you guys, but I have a problem where, if I dont have time to construct something interesting (with videos or picts), I tend to focus on other tasks. This isn't a lazyman excuse, I jsut don't want to shortchange our fans.

Anyways, I found Twitter to be a great in-between for anyone that wants to be kept in the loop but dosen't mind their info presented sans-excitement.

This is the first week we have everyone back from the Demigod time-vortex, so we're shifting from basic 'feature implementation' to the 'polishing the game' portion of development.

Feel free to hop aboard and join our day-to-day!

I hate Twitter, and I hate Facebook. I just don't want to be a part of it.....

You don't have to be. You don't have to join twitter to read it. Hell, if you use the RSS feed, you don't even have to visit twitter to read it.

I understand twitter hate, but Stardock's goal here is just to have an easy way to provide updates. That means more updates, which is something people have been begging for.

Twitter does suck, but you don't have to sign up to read at least.

The #elemental chat will be getting a lot more action once the alpha/betas actually roll out and there will be time and reason for most of them to be on it. I get home very close to their closing time, but the only one I see there now is Cari. Trent was there when he was working too.

So now we just goof off there :P

CaesarsGhost: I can't use IRC...I get sucked into conversations too easilly :(   This let's me post info between builds without feeling like I'm ignoring people in a chat room

I just subscribed to the RSS feed - no need to join Twitter.  This may be one of the best applications of micro-blogging I've heard of yet, though, right up there with Dell using it for advertising.  Reading what someone had for lunch, though...no thanks.

Ooo. Friends and family have been trying to get me on twitter for a while now, but it seems like this may be what finally gets to me to do it...

That's why you get the patented EetBell. Ring it and he comes running to scare you away.

That's ok boogiebac, there's been a big lack of IRC love in general... although when Trent was there at least he gave us a little glint

We'll try and get back on there...it's just that other tools have come along that really step 'communications' up a notch (Skype's group converstations, forinstance, which auto-log and can be accessed from any machine).

Once the alpha is out we'll all have more to chat about :D

I don't like the most common uses for twitter this new "Microblog" and hearing about it on the news 24/7.  HOWEVER! the fact that followers can receive updates on their cellphones is amazingly useful.  My Warhammer guild uses that to call for reinforcements if we need to.

man, this is too much.  I'm going to have to investigate using twitter.  :(     *must keep up with everything!

Not many of Stardock's customers use IRC as compared to Twitter most likely, even with Stardock's older bias that probably exists.  (Fair bet to say SD customers are older then the average PC gamer, and more affluent- especially since that's part of SD's business strategy)

Personally I like Twitter @broccoman on there, but I use it for menial crap I don't want to put serious stuff on.

Followed.

I'd suggest all you new guys download TweetDeck or some similar program. It makes twitter a lot less of a hassle to use.

Followed. I don't really like twitter, and havent' actually posted anything, but it is useful for following other people.

The shudder quotes are a bit soothing.

I've blocked twitter.com for myself, but if anyone enjoyed the Doonesbury stretch a while back where Roland Hedley kept twitting while he was supposed to be doing his reporter thing, apparently Trudeau followed up with some real-time mockery. Dunno if he's still doing it, but back in March he was popping out lines like "No tweeting allowed in hearing room, so keep bending over to "tie shoelaces" to conceal tweeting. Guard suspicious. I'm at great risk."

Good thing, because I'm going to have to rely on you people sending information my way. I sure as hell can't be arsed with these Twit-shenanigans.

How about giving some love to the IRC instead of thinking up new ways to avoid it? Even the Demigod channel gets more Elemental information than the Elemental channel does, and now this twitter thingomabobs? Hogwash!

Twit-shenanigans

This should be added to the dictionary.

That was already answered in this very thread. It tends to suck Boogie in and create conversations, which distracts from actually working on Elemetal. Taking 45 seconds to write a Twitter post doesn't have the same problem.

It also has the advantage that you can read it whenever, instead of having to be on at the time something gets said, like IRC. For most of us, IRC just isn't a practical way to learn anything.

Seems a lot of people feel this..as do I.  lol

Why join Twitter? Cannot you just bookmark the page and go there once in a while?

Because I'm an Elemental adict.

I don't like smoking things but now that there is Elemental goodness in crystal crystal form I will smoke it rather then wait for the powered form to show up so I can snort it.

Are you telling me I'm going to have to use Skype in order to actively feedback on Elemental instead of IRC?

Twit-shenanigans
This should be added to the dictionary.

Only if the definition is based on South Park's 'rules' for calling shenanigans.

Hmm, someone around there likes Illustrator...
