I lost all of my custom designs a while ago for some reason, and I never had the drive to re-create them.  I had some great mythical creature/insectoid ones for my Thalan games.

Is there any way to download other peoples designs or what?  I've been away from the game for a while.

I'm guessing the IA in those ship registry stands for Imperial Arcean?

  @ Migr8r, How did you set up your pictures of your kool ships? I know you took five print screen pictures then how did you get your six pictures into one picture. If you may, please explain.   I have corel photo shop.

Some truly great ship designs here.  You all are very talented naval architects.

Here's my contribution: the Excalibur.  I borrowed midnightrunner's "gun turrets" design.  Yeah, they're just for show, but I liked what he did.

 For some reason I've always had a fascination with a design such as this.  A circular hull with missile weaponry compacted inside.  Wasn't until I got DA and ToA that I was able to truly build it.

I'll admit it.  I laughed.  Just the thought of a fleet of those things squaring off with an enemy fleet made me chuckle.

You need to put streamers on the end of the handlebars, though, for the full effect.

Maybe a basket on the front downtube.

@ Migr8r, Where did you take your screen shots at? In the main map, is there a way to have a free cam veiw like in the battles? I want to be able to move the camera veiw to any angle. You know see the dark side of the moon?

The ship editor should allow you to freely rotate the ship view. There are also buttons pre-configured for top, front, side and isometric views.

Yup.  That's exactly how I did it, too.

By the way, migr8r, love your ship designs.  Especially the Ember and Forerunner.  I especialy like how you embedded a Fleet Warp Bubble core with spinning sections within the hull of the Forerunner.  Good work.

   My ship is too long from the side view unless you like to see the middle only.     Alright, I will have to dig around in the forums to see if I can find it then I will tell you unless you tell me first. I thought was away to rotate camera on the main map, maybe it was cheat code or mod???  Mmm or was it in the library?

In the Ship Editor you should be able to zoom out far enough to fit the whole thing in frame.  Just select your ship in your Shipyard, hit "Upgrade", disable the little red hard points icons from showing, and then scroll back until you can see the whole vessel.

As for the Main Map camera, holding down the middle mouse button and then scrolling left or right will rotate the camera, moving forward backward changes elevation.  There is a menu option, however, that will snap the camera back to the default setting once you release the mouse button.  Disabling this option might make taking screenshots on the main map easier.

Just upgrading some of the core Aaa ships with more jewelry and rotating parts,and designed some new ships.

I'd be nice I one could archive an effect of moving and wobbling tentactles, but one can not linearly animate... let the tentacles top move some distance forth and then back again... still trying

@MrKorx: No offense but those just fucking terrible. Theylooks like you took some hulls and gave them a bunch tentacles.

mr korx i like these ships.

not sure but maybe if you used an oblong piece and a piece that is sitting still the tanticles might move in and out.

I like tentacles as much as the next guy, but sometimes less is more.

The designs with fewer tentacles look better. Maybe if you had more variation on the scaling it would work. Or only two or three really obvious big ones, the rest smaller so the ship has more distinctive silhouette.

I am no artist, just a coder. What would be your approach to organic looking ships, other than tentacles?

Anybody, who wants to contribute organic looking ships to AsaMod is highly invited to do so, sort of shadow or 8472 ship style.

The Asa in NewFrontiers Mod wil get new hulls and jewellry ayway, at least the guys promisedf it.
