Sins: Entrenchment Delayed to Allow for Public Beta Testing

Stardock and Ironclad Games have decided to delay the final release of Sins of a Solar Empire: Entrenchment, the first micro-expansion for the hit stratey game.  Originally slated for release on November 18th, Entrenchment will first be put through a public beta test for pre-order customers.  This will allow us to finely hone Entrenchment ahead of its final public debut, the date of which has not yet been set (it will largely depend on beta feedback).

While we know this will disappoint some in the Sins community, we feel this will help make Entrenchment a far stronger product overall.

I was bothered that i have to send my laptop off on the 21st so would only get a few days of a system that can handel it. (my poor tower only has a Geforce 5)

 

So it sounds like i'll get my laptop back around the time the beta goes up.

 

thanks for making sure the game is solid.

i'm betting that the reason for the delay is the delayed cycle on 1.1.......

has anyone had trouble with impuse updating the game this sux, major problem you guys have impuse if that if theres an update no one can update game or do update off line, major problem. 

Right now im sitting on impuse thinking about redownloading impuse to try and get beta to update 1.09b to 1.09c which i belive is part of this post. can someone please fix impuse ASAP  since i wish to play this new beta. and will enrichment addon allow the pplz who havent payed for the enrichment exp to play with those who have this new exp ?.

Well I'll preorder tomorrow. I really hope we get it before the end of the month (last few games I've played I spam as many Gauss turrets as I can, and against a hard AI's fleet thats really not enough).

 

My Impulse is being wierd too. "Error retrieving data." It's probably a server problem which will be fixed soon.

Tis is way too much, whats up with impuse just reinstalled try to update sins to 1.09c and oo error updating, no update. im a pre buyer ohhh well just have to leave it yet another day to sit there and wait out the update process.

 

about what i said before im not going to feel bad, i belive those people who brought there own game trying to be ligit on there games, should beable to download the patch  btw what is the password for impuse archive in c: my documents ?. since i have partitioned my hard drive for windows and apps and not for back ups i wish to beable to back up a game and have access to it that is why i require impuse backup or so called archive backup which i dont understand as per say to get the backup back to impuse after you have done so, and what directory do you move onc you want it backed up ?.

So I think that this update is a bug and wasn't supposed to be public. Note the lack of a forum thread on it.

the new beta patch massivkly which was 1.09b < previous patch which i still have installed before impuse gets updated. or patched the server what ever it is this is there trouble with offline content but anyway, the new patch 1.09b which was the first upgrade of enrichment was verry hard i like it because its almost like playing agenst players online it either comes after you or has a mass fleet and kicks your a$$ lol. the quility of trying to beat a computer ai now with 1.09b is awsuem but still doesnt quite feel humanoid i dont think you could get ai to go that much but its much much much better than 1.05 which on my machine i cant play since during games , i get a memory error with the game, and yea new patch massivly updates game as well good stuff.

Patch 1.096 is a beta and is currently being used for testing. Anyone can download this off of Impulse.

 

Patch 1.1 is the official patch and is very near completion, there are just some sync error testing going on right now for multiplayer. If I were to guess, this will be released in the next week or so. One of the stardock posters said no later then the end of the month (Nov. 30, 2008). Not necessarily a promise though. Quality seems to be the focus of both Stardock and Ironclad. Releases seem occur when the product is ready rather than on pre-determined dates.

 

Entrenchment will no longer be released Nov 18. Instead, if you pre-order the game you can download the beta of Entrenchment and help report bugs and blance issues. No release for the beta Entrenchment has been stated.

You get emailed to your email with a beta key (or if you used your impulse account it will appear under the my games tab). The game will be charged once the beta is released.

 

Patch 1.096 is a beta and is currently being used for testing. Anyone can download this off of Impulse.

You haven't been charged yet. The credit card company can put a hold on the funds for a few days, but Stardock only processes your order when there's something for you to download. When that happens you will get a second email with your serial # and it will automatically become registered to your Impulse account.

... when there is something for you to download... happens you will get a second email with your serial # and it will automatically become registered to your Impulse account.

 

So, since it's an expansion you must have Sins, and you will not be charged for Entrenchment until it comes out (the beta comes out). Nor will you get a serial number / access to it on your Impulse account until it comes out. :D
