Multiplayer doesnt work

It either lags, or says "open 6000 or 6004 on firewall." where theheckis that.

the how to was written in june. as far as lan games go i think the updates have renedered that "out of date". For example: the line "If you're playing on a LAN, the player who will host the game should click on the LAN checkbox up near the server address and click on Yes when the prompt comes up asking if he wants to run the LAN server." doesn't seem to apply. there is no lan check box.......or i can't find it. still haven't been able to set up a lan game with retail version patched to 1.5

As to your question about running a Lan game, let's see if I can help you out with that.  The HOW-TO may be slightly out of date for that.  Now instead of checking a LAN checkbox, you press a "LAN GAME" button.  You'll see this LAN button after you press the Multiplayer button on the main menu.  We changed it to this way in an attempt to make it more obvious. 

After you press the LAN button, you'll see that the "Server" box says your IP address (something like 10.1.1.xxx).  Have the second player press the Multiplayer button on the main menu, and choose LAN game.  Have them change the number in their server textbox to match the number in yours.  This is covered in the HOW-TO, but I don't mind helping you along.

yeah, see that's the weird thing, we tried everything you said, opened all the ports, even tried turning the firewalls off, and still no luck. we get to the lan multiplayer lobby. we can be seen there and chat there. being on a lan our ips are one number. One of use will change the ip number to match the other and then clicks create. when that happens the player createing the game continues. gets as far as the 'waiting' screen. the other player can not see a 'game' to join. not sure what the problem is and wondering if anyone else is haveing the same problem.

What if you wait to change the server address until after the person hosting the game has created it? Does it work then?

I don't think this thread was ever resolved

I can report exactly the same issue - two machines with identical versions: the players can both enter the lobby screen and chat to one another but when you create a game you disconnect from the lobby (this seems to happen at the point where you click continue in the dialogue to set a password)

Help would be greatly appreciated!

I've been trying to play this game with friends, who bought it on my recommendation, and Im embarrased to say that we all feel like we wasted our money, as the game simply will not let us see the games once they are created via lan. We've also tried using different computers, and different lans at three different locations.

This will without a doubt be the last time I purchase a game  from this particular developer, especially as it appears that there are others with this same problem that was never addressed.

I am attempting to play Demigod via LAN and I dont even get an option for LAN when I enter Multi-player.. I just get internet and cancel..  What do I need to do to get Demigod to recognise that i have a LAN available?

Demigod must be updated from the initial retail release in order to use LAN play.

I tried playing the game with a friend of mine over the internet but it didn't work.

I opened the ports on my router, hosted the game and he sees the game but he can't join it.

Any ideas?

I have to agree with JRodrey about being dissapointed by this companies response. I also purchased pm2008 on a recommendation, but am having the exact same problem connecting to a lan. We can see each other in the lobby but cannot see any games created by either of us - and yes, we are checking to make sure we connect to the right ip. While it isn't the end of the world to not lan, the seeming lack of support for this issue makes me wary of purchasing from this company again.

This is a joke - is there no support for this game anymore? I cannot connect to lan or online as it turns out. In lan we can see each other in lobby but can't see any games - online we can see the created game but clicking the join button does nothing. Neither problem makes any sense! What the hell is wrong with this game I wasted money on?

@The_Jackalope,

 

First, I'll assume you're trying to play on a "real" LAN (not a Hamachi "virtual" lan) correct?  If you're using a "virtual lan" like Hamachi then you would be better off using the step-by-step guide I made to configure your router for direct IP connection.

If you are in fact on a "real" LAN, please make sure all firewalls and any other security software is turned off (for testing at the very least) and that you can in fact "ping" the other machine and vice versa.

Post back with some answers and I'll help you further....
