A member of the far left Democraticunderground has put Sarah Palin's special needs son Trig Palin up for sale on EBay. Obviously, this is insane. This is the listing description:
"Adorable special needs child desperately requires loving family. Once used as a prop during televised speech. Can shoot a rabbit with an air rifle at 35 ft. Mother is a pushy social climber, unwilling to let pregnancy and children stand in way of ambition. Father unknown."
These people really need to get a grip already. They look like vampires withering in the sun.
Obviously this is not cool, if this were me and my kid I would laugh at it myself, but thats just me I dont take stuff like this seriously, it is kiinda funny, but also there is no place for it. Another question though how do you know who put this on ebay. Maybe they have no political affiliation and were just being dumb?
Really, it's disgusting. You don't see right-wing nutcases dressing as the KKK, do you?
She has a disabled child which highlights your stance on pro-life. You're hardly going to go "here's my son, serving in Iraq soon, my three beautiful daughters.... *mumble**mumble*disabled boy called Trig*mumble*"
Also if you read the posts on DU.com most people are condeming this....Make sure you tell the whole story as well.
No they just keep saying that obama is not black enough and stuff like that.
More the equivilant of Trig being her grandson? I think this is way past the line.
Here's the line,
Here's the grandson thing
If this happened to an everyday person or someone running for a council or a mayor, the people who instigated it (if they could find them) would be charged. I appreciate some people would laugh it off, but many would feel very distressed by the fact that their son might one day read this kind of rubbish.
That's kind of funny, actually.
There are 20 bids already placed in the screenshot.
I have a twisted sense of humor.
Uh, no. Last I checked, Jessa and Al were both democrats.
these are the responses to this, as you can see most are not saying this was in good taste.
Actually, it was Black people on the Left who were saying that.
Anthony: As I've said before, I'm glad we live in a country so free that people are able to expose their idiocy openly. ;~D
yes agreed they were AS WELL...hey Ted check out my 9/11 post I hope you will consider taking that pledge.
It's certainly tasteless but it is funny. Let's not be too quick to condemn, lest we lose the 'moral high ground' and the opportunity to use tasteless humor ourselves.
Let's mock up an Obama Monkey pic and circulate it (he does have big ears, kinda like Bush). How far you think that would get, nevermind all the Bush Monkey/Chimp pics of the past 8 years?
The image has fallen into the memory hole over at DU. After being linked by several right wing site, they pulled the image. I had a feeling they would so thats why I took screenshots
Now that's funny. I'm reasonably certain it wasn't taken down as a matter of conscience, more likely a little phone call from eBay concerning certain trademark infringement issues I'd imagine.
Condemning tastelessness is not censoring it. We can support the right of the KKK (or Rev Wright) to spout hatred, but we do not have to avoid condemning it.
Wish they had a digicon for 'tongue in cheek'.
ditto, sarcasm/tongue-in-cheek moments don't come out too well on the internet
As soon as they get the sarcasm tags I guess.
(Sorry for missing the tags)
You think that is funny look at this:
please check out the 9/11 positive post thread, lets all be americans for a day rather than dem or repubs or independents
