121 Weeks too long for a game, or not enough to do in the game?

I'm usually one of those types of people that loves to have games drag on for ages, so I chose the option to make the game as long as possible (I think that's 121 weeks in TPM08) but Im starting to wonder if that was really a good choice.

Im only into week 40 or so and finding Im bored silly with lack of what to do.  Im guessing that I just don't know all the nuances to the game and what people do when they play it.  I run around from state to state placing headquarters or one of the other 2 buildings (depending on what stage of the game IM in), or adding advertisements etc.  But there gets a point (for me about week 35-40 where I start to wain and think to myself that there has to be more to do then Im doing.

So, it's nice to have an option for that long of a game, however I really don't think there is enough to keep the game interesting for that long of a period of time.

Feel free to comment on this subject or tell me what you find yourself doing in a 121 week game.

What difficulty are you playing on? I play 40 weeks, due to(what I believe) is fan/cooling probelms with my laptop. Still on harder difficulties I find my self begging for a few extra weeks to edge out my opponent and take the lead. Maybe your better than me, and are playing on the hardest diffuclty levels, but I struggle alot with 40 weeks. It's nice and challenging.

What I meant was that yes a 40 week game seems appropriate to get everything done that I need to do in order to win presidency, however on the 121 week games, there just a lot (60 to 80 weeks) of not really needing to do anything much at all.  I suppose it could may be a challenge to do nothing for the first 80 weeks and let the other candidate run around like  madman picking up awareness and approval, and then jump in at week 81 and try to win that way.

Perhaps that is why there is the option to have 121 week games for people that enjoy that sort of masochistic game play.  So far I've not tried that, though I might just to see what happens, but in quickplay 121 week games it usually plays out that by about week 40 or so, I've got the map pretty well wrapped up and then spend the remainding 80 weeks or so just doing the same thing over and over again making sure that I keep what I've managed to obtain in the first 40 weeks, there are no suprises in there so far, it's just rinse and repeat gameplay which is what made me wonder about this and post a thread on it thinking there must be something else in all those weeks that I'm not doing but which I should be doing.

I play on painful(i think) usually. In my past 40wk game, coming close to adding another in the sparse win column, I lost by four electoral votes, adding yet another loss(along with many others) at that difficulty. The others difficulties I can usually pull out a more than decent win at 40 wk's. To the point where I would try challenge my self but going for Florida or certain other high electoral vote states. I still more than a few levels to climb though. I believe I am on the hardest one from the campaign, painful.
