Nope-Still Can't Vote For Obama

Even Knowing More About Him

I know very little about Obama and when I ask others, no one else seems to know either. So before we even consider to vote for him we should start at least getting to know the guy and his background don't ya think. So far this about sums up all I know about him and was sent to me by a friend.

LET ME SEE IF I HAVE THIS STRAIGHT:

HIS FATHER WAS A KENYAN, MUSLIM, BLACK - WE HAVE SEEN PICTURES OF HIS AFRICAN 'FAMILY'

HIS MOTHER IS A KANSAN, ATHEIST, WHITE-
WHERE ARE THE PICTURES OF HIS KANSAN, WHITE MOTHER AND HIS WHITE GRANDPARENTS WHO RAISED HIM?

HIS FATHER DESERTED HIS MOTHER AND HIM WHEN HE WAS VERY YOUNG AND WENT BACK TO HIS FAMILY IN KENYA

HIS MOTHER MARRIED AN INDONESIAN MUSLIM AND TOOK HIM TO JAKARTA WHERE HE WAS SCHOOLED IN A MUSLIM SCHOOL

HIS MOTHER RETURNED TO HAWAII AND HE WAS RAISED BY HIS WHITE KANSAN GRANDPARENTS

HE LATER WENT TO THE BEST HIGH DOLLAR SCHOOLS; HOW?

HE LIVES IN A $1.4 MILLION DOLLAR HOUSE THAT HE ACQUIRED THROUGH A DEAL WITH A WEALTHY FUND RAISER; HOW?

HE 'WORKED' AS A CIVIL RIGHTS ACTIVIST IN CHICAGO - HAS NEVER HELD A PRODUCTIVE JOB. He has never even run a corner hot dog stand. Or met a payroll. Or managed anything besides his political offices and his speeches. And he wants you to believe that he should be CEO of the most powerful and complex nation in the world, and Commander In Chief of our armed forces???

THE PRESIDENCY IS NOT A CIVIL RIGHTS POST!

NOR IS IT SUBJECT TO AFFIRMATIVE ACTION SET ASIDES!

HE ENTERED POLITICS AT THE STATE LEVEL AND THEN THE NATIONAL LEVEL WHERE HE HAS MINIMAL EXPERIENCE

HE IS PROUD OF HIS 'AFRICAN HERITAGE' BUT IT SEEMS THAT HIS ONLY AFRICAN CONNECTION WAS THAT HIS AFRICAN FATHER GOT A WHITE GIRL PREGNANT AND DESERTED HER. I DIDN'T KNOW THAT SPERM CARRIED A 'CULTURAL' GENE. WHERE IS THE PRIDE IN HIS WHITE CULTURE?

HE GOES (for twenty years) TO A 'AFROCENTRIC' CHURCH THAT HATES WHITES, HATES JEWS, AND BLAMES AMERICA FOR ALL THE WORLDS PERCEIVED FAULTS AND THEN REPEATEDLY COVERS UP FOR THE PASTOR AND THE CHURCH

HE CLAIMS THAT HE COULD NOT CONFRONT HIS PASTOR BUT HE WANTS US TO BELIEVE THAT HE CAN CONFRONT NORTH KOREA AND IRAN, RIGHT!!!

YEAH, I THINK I SEE HOW HE COULD BE A UNITER AND BRING US TOGETHER. I THINK THE HOPE IS THAT HE HOPES NO ONE WILL PUT THE PIECES TOGETHER!

Not true. The majority of marriage law is state law and if and when marriage is/was defined to be between members of the opposite sex varies from state to state. Federal statutes of marriage law do not define marriage they are simply applied based on the marital status of one's legal residence. In 1996 DOMA was enacted at the federal lvl which defines marriage for the purpose of federal statues but specifically states that this provision does not apply to state laws.

They did not legislate (write) any law and in fact found a law to be unconstitutional.
The fact is the court this case was tried in is considered conservative. 6 of 7 of the judges are conservatives,mainly roman catholic and protestant that were appointed by Republican Governors.

An FMA would require 2/3 majority of the houses for proposal and then 3/4 of the states to ratify....don't hold your breath.

There is a huge difference...It's called circumventing the judicial system.

That is insane! It is not circumventing the judicial system! It is called following the will of the people! The very foundation of this country. The Judiciary circumvents the will of the people when it makes laws never intended. By passing an amendment, the people are clearly stating what they intend. Some may not agree with it, but this is not the will of the unanimity, but the majority. You cant circumvent the judicial system by amending the constitution! The judicial system is the ARBITER, not the MAKER of laws. And therein lies the problem with many liberals today. They think the judicial system is co-equal with the legislature to make laws, and in some cases, it actually does that - contrary to the law of the land. But it was never intended to be that way.

You simply need to to read and fully understand the 14th Amendment of the United States Constitution. The will of the people is not always in line with what our constitution deems to be equal.

I have no problem calling marriage "between a man and a women". That is in fact what It means to me. But since there are statutes regarding property rights, hospital visitation, guardianship, etc. that are applied solely on marital status we have two choices. To either rewrite all those laws and statutes so that their application refers to all partnerships of commitment between two people, or include same-sex couples within the definition of marriage.

Wow, so many things that bother me from the original post and the next couple of followups by the original poster, I couldn't bear to read more or else my head would explode:

- The Presidency is not a Civil Rights post? Well, it is not a Religious post as well! So what that his father was Muslim and his mother was an atheist. In fact, the idea that his mother was an atheist is a plus for me - no religious agenda in the White House! How nice a change!

- Let's see, money to Africa for relief for AIDS is a bad thing ..... yeah, I want our billions in tax money spent on bombing innocent people and getting our troops killed instead. That is fiscally responsible.

By the way, I am a McCain supporter, but more arguments like this from the religious right and I may change my mind .....

I've seen a few articles and interviews lately about Republicans who are worried that the amount of biggotry and racism surfacing on the internet, may set the GOP back decades...It's sad. My states local government is very republican and i would hate to see that change because of what it happening at the federal level.

You simply need to to read and fully understand the 14th Amendment of the United States Constitution. The will of the people is not always in line with what our constitution deems to be equal.

But the Constitution is THE LAW of the land, and neither the courts or legislature can trump it. period. If you read the constitution, you would see that Congress, and the legislatures of the 50 states have a role in changing it, NOT the courts or even the president. And the courts role? As defined by the constitution is not to MAKE laws but to interpret them and (then later under Jay and Marshall) to hold them up against the constitution. If the court rules that a law is unconstitutional, it is the DUTY of the legislature to change it to conform. That is not circumventing the judicial, it is their DUTY.

The ignorance about the roles of government and the constitution itself is just astounding! You cannot "circumvent" the will of the judiciary as they are APPOINTED not elected, and therefor their will is immaterial (or should be) as their opinions only matter when there is a conflict with enacted laws and the constitution, not with making laws.

That is correct but when the "will of the people" is to make a change to a state or the federal constitution which goes against another part of it, then you have a problem. Equal protection clauses are and should be strong. Amending constitutions generally takes a supermajority, for a reason. So that is what you need to look at. I even pointed out in a previous post what was need for a federal amendment and public sentiment currently does not meet those criterior. Bush even stated that in a speech a few years back.

No you dont. Like it or not, when a super majority agrees, it is the LAW. Period. And that is not circumventing judges. That is what the country is based on. It is far from perfect, but better than anything else around today,

The only way to amend the constitution is with a super majority.

We are going far afield. This whole thread arose because of you statement about "circumventing" the judiciary. Simply put that is impossible. You can only circumvent the will of the people via the judiciary. The Judiciary is not the will of the people, but the will of a person.
