Only the games made available through the TotalGaming.net website can be used for token purchases.  There are a number of games still upcoming that will be good for tokens.

Can you please allow us to convert our tokens to discount coupons on Impulse?

edit: It is a shame on no tokens, only way I can pre-order since my Switch/Maestro card isn't accepted at the store! I was hoping to quickly buy 5 more tokens to pre-order Demigod but now I'm stuck with the one.

While I can't say for certain there won't be any new 1 token games added, it's probably unlikely, in which case you're stuck. Impulse will not use a token system.  Part of the ongoing problem of getting new games added is that publishers/developers didn't like that business model, so it's going away forever.  People at large just didn't "get" the token concept anyway (it was a point of constant confusion).

We're still discussing what else may be possible in terms of coupons, etc. but I don't have any details yet.

All of your purchased games will appear in Impulse. The reason why they haven't yet is because we haven't made them live before late this afternoon.

Demigod and all new games will only appear in Impulse. We will not be supporting them on SDC.

There's nothing like that at the current time. The problem is that most publishers simply refuse to accept such systems, which is what's kept most higher profile titles off our digital store. There will almost certainly be special sales and coupon offers from time-to-time, however.

While I havent had a chance to download Impulse and I didt really use the Token system that I can remember. I do hope that the ease of use and straight foward use of TGN will be apparent when I fire up Impulse. The webpage itself looked way too busy. I like the interface that TGN uses. Very simple and looks great.

I buy your games; read the emails etc and just play, enjoy and occasionaly check for updates.

I really don't feel the need for ego enhancement by endless posting on pointless forums/blogs/whatever! They are time wasting, flame ridden, churlish wastelands of frustrations.

As to the Token system; while I can empathise with Stardocks' wish to expand etc - I fail to see how they expect to retain support of all of their preceeding members (and bear in mind, we pay your salaries...) when they essentially are planning to "STEAL" the money we all committed to buying Tokens. I have 2 currently and was trying to find where the "Buy more Token" link disappeared to, when I stumbled over the posting reference.
I am not some frustrated shopaholic looking for a way to spend money; I want VALUE for my money - it is too damn hard to come by! - Thus Yarlen's suggestion to basically use your Tokens on anything that matches your balance is downright rude - and patronisingly insulting.

I also admired Stardock for its refusal to get caught up in the American model, which emphasises greed mostly, (on the Major Publishers parts at least), where all the "little" innovators have been swalled up by mindless corporations bent on profits not customer satisfaction. The basic premise being get on the bandwagon of the latest gimmick - screw playability et al. If you are planning to makes "Buckets of Money" by signing up the "Majors" - then giving everyone credit on the site for our unused tokens should not be an issue! After all, you have had the use of OUR MONEY for whatever time it has been - months or even a year or more - so in essence you have been funded by a huge pool of of NO interest business finance. In Australia, if you pulled a stunt like that (essentially defaulting on your loans) and merrily continuing on, it would mean Legal responses for "Trading while Insolvent"; including jail time for the Directors in some cases.

Now, I have no legal knowledge of Europe in general and Germany in particular - but this all smells like last weeks fish!

Gang, we are not screwing you over. How anyone can claim that with a straight face is beyond me. Your tokens will not expire, we will still be adding some new games to TGN, and you can use your tokens on them if you want. Same as always. The only thing that's changed is that we're not selling new tokens because we need to ramp down this business model.

We are also looking into giving people the option of turning their tokens into a "gift card" of sorts, that you can use towards anything we sell. However, this is going to take us quite a bit of time to develop as we don't have anything like it at the moment. 

The token business model was not popular with customers (most found it confusing) or with developers (they found it confusing and were simply unwilling to even try it - one publisher even demanded 100% of the revenue). It was not sustainable moving forward and we had to change it.

Guess I should find something to dump my other 5 tokens on. And I agree 100% that the token system is confusing and unwieldy. For example I'd like to preorder Demigod but it's 6 tokens and I only 5 which would leaves me with the option of either outright paying for it or buying another 10 tokens so I can get 1 more to preorder Demigod.

Some kind of way to convert them to discounts or something for Impusle games would be cool. I would like to be able to, for example, pay for $35 of the $45 for Demigod with tokens and the rest with cash (numbers are arbitrary examples).

Can we please relax about this for a bit? Yarlen has stated, in this very thread, that they are looking into a 'solution' for the situation you describe. I think it is reasonable to assume that this is NOT their top priority while launching a new system such as Impulse but I for one am unwilling to assume the worst just yet.

Stardock has gone through a few iterations with Totalgaming and so far the 'veterans' of the system have always come out on top. Let's be patient and see what happens for now.

As far as Stardock software is concerned, the archives are just zipfiles renamed to sdc files so you can quite easily just unzip them manually to install. I think at least Galactic Civilization allows you to type in your serial number in the game directly but I'm not sure on all other programs.
I do agree that it would be nice to provide this sort of information or a service for this automatically. Will stardock central completely stop functioning at some point? It still seems to work for me currently. I can understand you don't want to be reliant on one piece of software to enable you to use multiple other pieces of software.

I was shocked when I came to buy some tokens today. Now, more shocked at how poorly this change was communicated. Like others here, I had to poke around to even find out what was going on. For years now Stardock, and then TGN, were my first stop for new games. I suppose I'll need to check out Impulse. Is there a link to it?

I have a small business, which I opened several years ago b/c I got tired of the boss. What I found was, sometimes one boss is much better than a horde of angry customers. A business can dry up pretty fast if it doesn't treat its customers well. If the business goes away, so do the jobs. So, our patronage does pay salaries. But "we pay your salary" is not a threat, its an opportunity.

As for the changes, I won't whine. Wardell and his crew have always been a good bunch. I can't imagine them going evil on us now.
