The Draft will begin on THURSDAY, JUNE 5th, 2008 and end once FireBender has made the 10th Draft Pick, at which point the remaining players will be randomly placed onto the teams.

Round Nine of the MVL will begin (assuming the Draft proceeds in a timely manner) on MONDAY, JUNE 9th, 2008

Hi all, i'd like to welcome all the new players to the MVL and i hope you enjoy it as much as we all have these past 9...10 months.

Welcome to the Villiany to Dethadder, Dsep and Lord Arkham and welcome back Pndrev!

Don't fear guys if i don't get round to chatting with you straight away i work 3 12 hours shifts straight over the weekend but i will try and touch base.

yeah, I seem to recall that all of the teams had actual banners at one point in time.

As a reminder to our veterans, and also for all our new players:

The Metaverse League is a friendly competition between players that are seeking another way to enjoy GalCivII. There is a certain amount of expectation put onto each individual to complete their games and to fully participate. I know that I take the MVL quite seriously, and I think many others do too.

Also, due to the competitive nature of the MVL, taunting is to be expected and even encouraged. However, I fully expect ALL my players to know the difference between friendly jesting and being downright rude. I have a high level of sportsmanship expected in this League and WILL NOT tolerate disruptive behavior.

If one so chooses to be rude/disruptive, depending on the situation, they may get a stern warning from me and be forced to forfeit their submission for a round, or they may be expelled from the MVL. If the case is serious enough, I have no qualms of going as far as to alert the forum moderators and have you banned from the site.

I say this not to be alarmist or overbearing but to say that I hold the MVL in very high esteem, and in turn I hope to hold all its players equally high.

ARC? what is that.

You're better off not knowing but for the record it's Advanced Race Configuration.

Basically there was a *lot* of discussion about this and at the time it was a fairly devisive issue. To try and summarize the results it primarily relates to editing raceconfig files to get custom uber races for your own use and/or custom dummy races for your opponents.

This was then extended to include even in-game customization of opponent races that resulted in dumb opponents that played beneath their reported level. I think most of this specifically applied to DA because I don't think any of this is possible in DL. This applies to TA as well although I'm not sure TA has the same ability.

However with the above said we really didn't want to get into dotting every i and crossing every t trying to define precisely what constitutes ARC and what doesn't. In the end we left it up to each persons judgement along with the honor system to ensure that no one should knowingly play a game where the opponents played beneath their reported level.

There were another couple of clauses that went along with that but if you want full details read the last three pages or so of the rules thread. Also carefully reading the OP of the Rules thread should give you a sense of it although that can be difficult reading. It probably is something that everyone should read at least once and it does get updated as necessary, but the bottom line is that we all try to be fair and equitable when it comes to rules and where possible we try to avoid unneccesary overcomplication, but sometimes that's unavoidable.

ARC was a game modification that took place outside of normal game mode by editing certain race files to achieve various changes in a race; such as changing one's home star or super ability for the stock races.

It was banned from use in the MVL a few months ago.

No need to go into that since it's not allowed in MVL games. However it is allowed (or at least was) in "normal" MV play and people basically considered it an enhanced form of racial configuration, hence the name.

Also this was brought to Cari's attention and it's possible that she may have updated cheat flag software to detect this condition, but IIRC super ability and home planet used to be able to be changed without tripping the cheat flag but like I said this could be updated at any point without notice.

If you're really interested in the process and what was allowed and what wasn't there was a thread that you could probably find if you search digiliently, but like I said this is not the place to go into that.
