"If I have one gigabyte RAM more, would I get a better performance in games like Supreme Commander/Demigod even if I have got a single core CPU?"

Of course. More ram always helps. Always.

More RAM only helps if you actually need more RAM. If the game isn't using all the RAM that you currently have then you don't need more of it.

Also, don't waste money on fast RAM. It's very literally a waste of money. The performance difference between the dirt cheap RAM and the super high end RAM is 10% at absolute best. That money is much better spent of CPU or Video card. Just get the cheapest RAM there is and enough of it to run the games you play then focus on other parts of your computer.

That's actually what I would do, but now I have got a second computer wich is able to run almost everything. I won't buy something I already have.

about to preorder, they are still accepting beta spots right? No hidden announcments or anything? Did everyone choose the retail box + digital? I really wish I could do that with STEAM games, I love having both....

I´ve chosen the retail box + digital download :)

exactly. expensive rams dont give a realy viewable effect and are a waste of money most time.
the ram upgrade is in the case of a application which needs many of the ram somethin what can make the diffrence. for example on my notebook here, World in Conflict already ran with 1 Gig Ram. but i bought another 1 Gig and could play it instead of low details after installing the ram on mid. because it needed that much of the ram. what is the point in many RTS games.

I am Pre-Ordered and awaiting download instructions. :)

Preordered and ready to play the beta....I'm guessing we are all in, right? Says so on the website if you preorder :)

I need to stop getting so excited like a little kid, I feel like I'm about to go to the store with my Dad and pick up an Atari 2600 game...lol..good times

Well I've pre-ordered as well, just hope I can actually run it on my system. So far there are number of things that look interesting about the game, but at the moment any mechanics other than what has already been explained is pure speculation. Looking forward to getting those answers first hand.

- guess no paypal...

Anyway, you all got me convinced (and the low dollar, so it's really cheap if I use the downloadable version), so how does one get into the beta? Do you need to sign up anywhere after you've preordered?

No, when you preorder you are in the beta. Until they say there is no room for new beta players.

And yes the dollar being that cheap is nice for all Euro people...

Hey, just wondering, will u be able to controle the units that spawn from the portals?

Demigod will/should be something between a RTS and a RPG. Imagine a RTS without being able to cotrol all units. This wouldn't be a game, it would be rather a replay. SO yeah, I'm 99% sure you will be able to do so.

@7hyrael
Ich habe immer noch keine Antwort von dir bekommen. :d
Reply #96 Top
I'm pretty sure you CANNOT control the units from portals. However, the General Demigods make units that you can control.
im with shadow1412.... it wouldnt rly we a RTS game if u couldnt cntrl all your units.
Well it isn't an RTS game. It is an action game with some RTS and RPG elements or whatever. If you use an Assassin you concentrate on just him, and with a General you get to control some units.

I'll try to find where I saw a dev posting that you couldn't control them.
Well heres a question in 5v5 game do you really want some griefer messing with your TEAMS units? The game is supposedly like many AoS style maps (from war 3) DotA being the exemplar of such. In which the idea is that as a team you have a base (which is the goal to kill) and it spawns some rather basic offensive units which run down pre-determined paths, the AI pays for them and controls them. And as a player you can buy and control your own. But yes there will be plenty of units (many of which are better then the portal spawns I'm assuming) to control when you're a general.

From everything that has been released that I have read, you will NOT control the team units that spawn from the portals. The RTS part comes to play when you choose a general type demigod. Then you can create buildings, create your own units, and have full control over their actions. These units are in addition to whatever units the AI on your team produces and controls. As an assassin type demigod, you only need to worry about your 1 single unit.
