SH0KK: Hopefully there's still time to join the beta. I'd love to but I've no way to actually pay for it. As my parents apparently don't trust credit cards or the internet. So i'll likely have to wait to see when/if it hits store shelves

1st, let me say that I don't want to get you in trouble with your parents - so, if they wouldn't like this, pretend I said nothing.

One option is to purchase a Visa gift card or something along those lines for $50...use that to purchase the game online, and boom, absolutely no risk to your credit card at all, and you're in for the beta.

I've pre-ordered... and checking the site every day to find out about beta!

I really do wish it was possible to pre-order the game with Paypal, but I understand why they don't allow it because Paypal doesn't allow refunds in case someone decides to cancel their pre-order.

I don't pre-order games, so I guess I will just have to wait until release.

Jumped on board today.

Big Dota fan here. Used to play DOTA everynight for a couple of years until the missus put her foot down. Now getting my kicks off of COD4 (PS3). Looking forward to the Beta. Guess there hasn't been any word on when the Beta starts or when the cutoff date was or will be...?

We have no dates as of yet Odit and your confirmation email doesn't tell you about the Beta. Best to contact SD Usling :)

Don´t like the idea to pay for a beta.
But it seems that the developers don´t care about the sense of beta. I´m not sure whether most of the people, who pre-ordered the game will really test the game and give some feedback etc. ;)

I will just wait for some test-videos etc.

Its meant to reward those who invest early interest in the game. It also helps push a few that wouldn't pre-order into doing so. However, don't forget you are not charged till the game is shipped. There's no better way of being able to try out the game (albeit in incomplete form) without actually paying for it first.

Secondly, if you've gone to the trouble of pre-ordering, and have some money invested, then you're more likely to support the beta and submit feedback then if it was just given to you. Just my opinion.

You're charged when there's something available for you to have. In the case of preorders before/during the beta, you get charged when you get your beta key.

But yeah, it definitely helps to winnow out the people just looking for betas as free games to play, who could care less about actual testing or the final product.

Will you be able to preorder and join the beta after it has started? Im very curious towards this, but im rather hestitant to invest in a game i literally know nothing about, just to be part of a beta test.

Generally we run our betas in phases, and more people are brought in at each phase's start (in between, the orders just queue up). Can't say for certain that'll be the case here, but it's been that way with all our games in the past.

We've been tantalized with a Summer beta. Can we expect something soon, or is late summer looking like a better estimate.

Yes, I understand that the beta release date will primarily be decided by the developers not the publishers and as such, Stardock may not have any more information that we the everyman, but can someone throw us a bone?

my bet would be that the beta starts together with Phase 2 of Impulse in mid-august which adds a matchmaking system to Impulse.

I hope not, that would blow away over a month of testing from the school kiddies who did well on their report cards and got mom or dad to go along with the preorder shenanigans. My guess is it starts in July, as that's when everyone including the college set (if they get summers off) get out of school for a while.

Beta will be great to get into and see what the game is like while trying to help it become a better game with less bugs and what not.
