With all the politcs of today don't you miss Ronald Reagan? I mean not only was he articulate, funny and smart, he was entertaining as well. Maybe his acting career helped him there some but he was genuinely just a pretty well liked guy no matter your politics.

Here's a few of his words he left behind to remember him by:

By the way, as many crimes were committed
trying to expunge Communism than Communism itself. Case in point -
Korean War and Vietnam Conflict .... how many of our troops died or
were changed forever by those engagements? The good ol' US going to
faraway lands to fight those evil Communists (unsuccessfully) when we
should have just minded our own business.YOu are
confusing issues. First, who determines that one life is more important
than another? After all, the communist started both conflicts. And they
were and are still killing thousands. The killing done on the other
side was to prevent the spread of it. One successful, the other not.
However the deaths were not caused by trying to stop the communism, but
by the communism itself.Your statement could just as easily
have been made about Nazi Germany. Look how many lives were lost trying
to stop the spread? If we had failed, I guess there would be many today
equating the action to stop it with the action to spread it. A nice
propaganda coup, but hardly an honest comparison.

No my friend (and I call you that because you seem to be in the minority of the people who disagree with who actually seems intelligent), but you are confusing the issue.

The US did not enter WWII until we were attacked by the Japanese and subsequently had war declared on us by Germany. We stayed out of both World Wars until it became apparent that we had to go in. Vietnam was abandoned by the French because they saw it was a losing cause - yet, the French are still bashed for their military shortfalls (although the Italians have a far sketchier history).

Bottom line, we had no business in Korea or Vietnam, or Iraq for that matter. If we continue to be the world's "peacekeeper" (aka, bullies) the U.S. empire will follow all the great ones in history and crumble. GW is making sure of that!!!

And you use the word "atheistic" as if it is wrong .... and it is "radical and extreme" to deny god?

3) Yeah, I belive in freedom of religion. I also believe in the freedom to deny that god exists, that the bible is crap written by human beings trying to keep people in line, etc., etc. So, freedom of religion extends to freedom to believe that religion sucks.

I realize from reading this you're talking about individual freedom to believe or deny God. But that's not what I've been talking about on this blog...I'm discussing atheistic Communism.

So, yes, I think it's not only wrong but a grave injustice for merciless tyrants of countries like Cuba, North Korea, N. Vietnam and China to impose atheistic Communism on its people.

Those who impose Atheistic Communism upon another deny that individual his freedom of religion. Are you ok with this?

I grew up Christian, drank the kool-aid, tried it again as an adult and guess what, it is just as accurate as any other mythology. And this is America, so I "should" be able to express that thought without repression. Yes?

Yes...expressing your discontent, malcontent and hatred of Christianity is an acceptable practice here in the US. In fact, you have expressed that thought and will be cheered by many when you do.

On the other hand, Christians are increasingly denied their First Amendment rights (no prayer, no crosses, no Christmas trees, no Christian symbols) and if the Dems win big in November, the hate crimes law they pass will effectively shut us up.

I as a Christian will be severely rebuked if I express my religious beliefs about the Jews, the Muslims, Islam, or homosexuality.

A simple question if i may, why Regan? What did he do for you that was so great?Under Reagan's leadership, America was respected around the world. Reagan truly served the people. No other President has done so since. I think he championed conservative principles and led from inner strength and character that didn't change with the political wind. He respected God, loved our country, was truly patriotic, and understood the importance of a strong family. For Reagan all life was sacred. All that just came naturally...as well as did his work in the COld War struggle for freedom. Margaret Thatcher, another one of my favorite politicos, credited him with winning the Cold War "without firing a shot".

Sorry, i'm from the North East of England, she pretty much destroyed all industry up there and plunged most of us into border-line poverty for several years, so i was raised being to dislike her and anything conservative.

That i realise is wrong now bering slightly older (and ever so slightly wiser), but the name still gives me shivers!

Well Regan and the Cold War is probably something i should look into more, a lot of people bring up Regan as being their favourite President you see, and i've never gotten around to asking them so i figured i'd take this opportunity to ask you lula.

From what i know of the cold war it was essentially a combiniation of America's pressure on the Soviet Union, and the internal pressure exerted from kremlin itself, that lead to it's collapse.

A case in point of this was the Agricultural Industry failing to produce enough grain that they reported they were, grain deficits are not a good thing for an economy trying to compete for global leader.

When it comes to religion and the way Communisim handled it. Well i'd have to agree entirely that it was a shambles and that the any society that restricts people from believing in something is wrong at a fundemental level.

Unfortunately, there are way too many people who do not understand this.

Take Cuba for example.

It's a Communist country that began under the dictatorship of Fidel Castro Ruz who took office at gunpoint.

He stole over 6,000 American owned businesses as well as confiscated 341 elementary and secondary schools including the Catholic University of Santo Thomas de Villaneuva from the Catholic Church.
