Ok guys, here you go, a thread devoted entirely to the release of my own ship models and the discussion of SoA2, specifically topics which have been pseudo-banned (i.e.Borg). Feel free to download my ship(s) and test them, then post criticisms and suggestions (constructive please) so I can improve my models and make them better. This thread in no way is designed to detract from SoA2, it's just another place we can talk.

The effects I did not create, I just used it. But like wise I am sure like all effects are created by changing the current texture file. Um, lol, my mod is totally not ready as I am using models made by others, I do not have the tools to create my own models, but likewise, I do know how if I had them and so I am just waiting on the release of other made star trek models and other tuned effects made by other people. I'm more into coding and as of right now I am tempting to create a stationed "space mine" a request by Ead a player over teamspeak. So far, my tempts is only by deploying a "Turret" and then having it stationed unable to move, and then set the range of its own weapon to like 10.000000 this way any passing ship would be destroyed.

Although this is not a space mine, its just another turret if you really look at it. So, I decided to deploy it as a "Seeker Space Mine" basicly, by deploying the new ship, it would seek out the enemy on its own by using the "Explore ability" from the scout ship. Now problem with this one is that it does not attack any ships unless provoke to attack, and not to mention the ship remains on exploring and does not stop to keep the attack up. Other words, the "Space Mine" is kinda out of my abilitys to create at the moment.

In my mod, its a "Star Trek" one but its more based on "Time" otherwords, realism to it. If you are building a battleship for instance, it will take much time for contruction. This is why in this mod, its important to expand and build more ship yards due to the limited of logicits you can have per planet and tactical. As I succeed in doing something, I'll show it off in videos for you all give you ideas for your selfs.

With the help of videz ive started work on my mod. We are creating a campaign. The biggest problem we are having is being completely new to ship design, moding and what not.

Okay, I'm not entirely happy with it, but you guys have been patient, so here's my attempt at the excelsior, rough version, complete with effects by a team effort of yours truly and Admiral Cobbs. The excelsior replaces your Kol, oh and the borg cube replaces your colony frigate, except it has no harpoints :p . Oh well, I got distracted this weekend with a meeting, and then I started designing my new snowboard, and you know how it is... Whatever, here you go. Expect a much more polished version of the excelsior later! Tada!

The Excelsior is fantastic. It looks and sounds great. I can not wait for your next model. I'd like to humbly suggest the Akira as a replacement for the TEC carrier, since its supposed to be a "carrier gunship" anyway. But I'm sure I'll enjoy whatever ship you choose.

how about a little something that changes TEC fighters/bombers into Federation/Maqui fighters, would add well with what you have released (though i havent used any of it yet, will wait untill there is enough to play a game with). A little off pace, probebly wouldnt conflict with the Stress Team, but a good add all around. Just another 2 cents.

While I think redoing the fighters would look really great(especially if, when they attack, it could show as much splash damage to the enemy shields as they did to the Cards' ships in the SOA episode) I think that another ship would enhance my playing experience more right now. So far, my fleet looks rather bland with just 2 class types (I refuse to build any other TEC ships). Not a complaint of course, I am so grateful for the mods we have. Rather, a suggestion that a new class would, in my opinion, add more to the playing experience than a fighter redesign. /shameless lobbying for a new ship

i just looked at the pic for the miranda. SWEET!! I'm new to the game just got it this week. if anyone has any sugestions on playing let me know. once i get my feet wet playing sins im gona start downloading modles. pics of oberth please. if you do the galxy it would be awsome if the drive secton could detach from the soucer.

Glorious! Love the torpedo effects too. What's your next project? That Galaxy/Nebula pack you were talking about?

So I'm now tweaking the Excelsior to make it a little more cinematic, and I've run into a slight complication. What I'm trying to do is to replace one of the torpedo weapons with a second phaser that fires three 0.3-second bursts alongside the more powerful phaser that fires in longer, one-second bursts in order to reflect the varying phaser blast durations seen in the show. (Two full seconds is way too long, by the way - if you watch the SoA battle scenes, rarely does a phaser beam last longer than half a second. They max out around one second.) Anyway, the problem I'm having is that I guess the third weapon hardpoint set is tied to the torpedo tubes. Is there any way to make a second weapon fire from the same hardpoints as the first?

Okay just finished a mission with the mod. The excelsior was awesome. I thought the mirande was supposed to have beams too. Oh well. You guys are doing a great job. I'll bee looking for the next ship.

If you want to fire two weapons form the same place you will need two sets of hardpoints at that location. I have done this a couple of times just by editing the .mesh files in notepad.

It's not about the technical authenticity, it's about the aesthetics. I like the game to look as much like the show as possible, and phaser beams that last two to four times as long throws that off. Besides, when you've got a dozen ships all firing at once, it's ugly to just have a line connecting them to their targets half of the time.

Sigh, sorry for the lack of communication, guys. It's been a while since I've had time to do anything. Some of you are going to be scratching your heads at this one (actually probably all of you) but I've been modeling a Sabre instead of a Galaxy or Akira or Sovereign. Why? I dunno... It is my favorite ship, and i thought it would be sweet to make. I also want to look into making it a more permanent scout for maps w/ like a hundred star systems(Admiral Cobbs has got a sweet one made, if he hasn't released it yet). I want the Sabre to be as it was meant to be, a scout that can act independently way the heck away from your empire, so I'm going to give it moderate shields/weapons and sweet scouting abilities like different classes of probes and passive/active scanners for incoming warp signatures and the like. Finals, parties, and good weather have been methodically eating away at my time, but I'll try and get this to you guys as soon as possible!

You know i dont know if anyone had not notice in that video but DO NONE of them damn ships have shields????? LOL every ship is being blown up in one shot! or say the least about 90% of all of them are even a GALAXY was destroyed...Oh! not to mention, one defiant gets blow up with no problems, and then another comes by and it has shields!! dodgeing and everything, yeah its the shit now... lol, DS9 has shield..wait in the middle of the damn station, yeah that video sucks. =)
