Welcome all! The Galactic Senate will be our new meeting room to decide on metaverse matters! This means that this is it's sole function...for now. This may change. This is not a slander thread like the Galactic Council one. There is no tolerance for profanity and swearing.
The leader of the senate will be voted upon once every 3 weeks! When the leader's term is up, he may be elected as many times as the voters want...unlimited! You may vote for yourself!
If the leader of the Senate does something inappropriate on this thread, then he will be immediately ousted and his throat will be slit with a razor. Then we'll rip his heart out and "The Legions of Darkness" (The Raiders special forces) will feast on it!
To be elected, one must have at least 12 the most votes! You may only vote for 1 person each ELECTION!
All issues must be brought to attention by either a senator or overlord of an empire! A citizen may bring up an issue, but it will not be voted on until a senator or overlord formally proposes it. To be considered a senator or overlord, you must have at least one other person in your empire besides yourself and you must have senator status!
That's all there is to say....now let's get started!

AMENDMENTS:
1. Anyone who is a senator in more than 1 empire counts as 2 votes but NOT 2 people! If you wish to be counted as a "Super" Senator, you must send me a PM telling me which empires you're a senator in.
2. The leader of the 1st place empire counts as 3 votes!
3. Free beer for all in attendance, but not to excess.
4. To pass anything, it must receive at least 12 6 votes, but if the nos outweigh the yeses, then it does not get passed.

Sorry, I now see you are Dsip   However you do realize that with the other people here, no matter what, it will get passed, cause we are all "super senators"

If we actually want to accomplish something, there's a framework already in place. It's been mentioned a couple of times recently. The Metaverse Council still has some pull with the Devs. Not a lot, but it's the semi-official channel that remains available to us humble mortals.

Mumblefratz, neilo, TheGreatEmperor and a handful of other select veterans are members. Even if they haven't had a council meeting in a while, it's still a viable way to be heard. That is, until it's eventually dismantled.

This "senate" and the other pseudo "council" are all good and well, but if you have real concerns, remember that there's still a real body of members with at least some pull that can actually get stuff done. They've accomplished real goals and brought our voices to Stardock in an organized and recognized way. If we don't use it, we'll certainly lose it.

I'm interested in participating in the MVC, if it can be brought back from the dead.

Im all for reigniting the MVC. There needs to be some dust brushed aside for sure, many members of the MVC are either no longer playing or not as interested as they were. I'm sure we could use you in the MVC KP, especially since the MVC has no Kzinti representation it would seem only natural.

What issues or goals had you in mind to address or achieve DSep?

I'm also on the MVC. Really, it doesn't seem like there are major issues that we need to address at the current time however... and the improvements Stardock has coming down the pipe for TA solve several of the concerns other people had.

My guess is that the MVC will actually have plenty to do in about a year, when the interest in TA is starting to fade and GalCiv II starts to have less of an active following.

Nothing in here seems serious.

I guess we should start campaigning then.  :) 

By now, most people will know my platform. If elected, I promise firm leadership with total disregard for those pesky suggestions that seem to clog up the tyranny process.

Campaign funds and bribes will be accepted and hey, you might even get your idea moved to the front of the line if the BCs are good.  ;)

Things have already been started. What is the point of two councils to further the MV. If your serious about these matters then lets get the whole council together and whoever else is interested in being a part of it, like yourself DSep and KP and discuss what goals we wish to achieve.

Sporing races in games and voting on leaders is not being serious.

I agree with you Wyndstar, after the shine of TA has been washed off there might actually be a call for the council to help promote and keep alive the MV. With any luck the MVL will still be going strong but id like to do something like the MVL but with the TA tournaments......

I'm placing my 2 votes for SethPenguin to run this council. For a little green lizard guy he is turning into quite the evil Dictator! Sorry Motti, I was going to vote for you but I figured it would be far more damaging to this council if SethPenguin was elected.

I made an Empire just for the occasion, coupled with my two senators(if Firebender and Alcadeias are still senators) in the Tyranny, that should make 3 votes.

I nominate... Playjeff! My 3 votes to him, this senate needs a bit more flavour.
