I recently ready a thread wondering why Republicans are resorting to actors to get politicians. Let’s first look at the mentality of the two types of celebrities.
The Democratic leaning celebrities when ask to put their money where their mouth is are more willing to do so. Most will support a political point of view or their politician by giving money (or making money). Barbara Striesan, Michael Moore, Alex Baldwin, or Tim Robins are examples of theses types. Projects like F 9/11, rewriting history with the Showtime Reagan movie, or the failing Air America Radio Talk show shows how their belief that money, time, and press releases are how they influence politics.
The Republican leaning celebrities when asked to put up or shut up are more likely to respond that way. They are more ready to actually enter political arena. Sunny Bonneo, Thomas Thompson, Arnold Swartinhager, Ronald Reagan and even Charlton Hesston (Through NRA president) are examples.
When rubber meets the road Republicans Actors are more willing to put their feet into the fire. Is this good or bad? I’m not sure, I’m just pointing out a fact. But an example of Democrats not able to stand the political heat is Michael Moore deciding to write his article about the RNC for USA today two miles away from the RNC convention after the first day (must of been a real in-depth article).
