The American Dream to Democrats is that we sit down and shut up and let the government take control and tell us what we have to do with our money, social security, and the way we live. We left England to be free from such government. John Kerry is a socialist, the number one liberal, and a liar. Being number one means that he is so far left that he is an exremist. John Edwards is the number four liberal in this country, I don't think that the democratic party did their home work before picking out a cannidate. If they had... they would not have picked such an extrimist. I believe the only reason that they did pick him was because Howard Dean during the third caucus, made John Kerry look like a mild little boy sitting straight up at the dinner table. We all know that Kerry is a flip-flopper, he swings with the political wind, but nobody knows how much of an exreme socialist he is. Most democrats don't even know why they are a democrat. Maybe because their parents were or because "that's their heritage." I dare people to really research why they are democrats, and most democrats, if they look up socialisim, well find out who they really are!

Here is a question, Rickyrod, how was it that the U.S. knew Saddam had weapons of mass destruction?

Okay, we knew that he had chemical agents at one point because WE gave him some in the early 80's. Now evidence is surfacing that he did destroy the mass of those weapons in '91 and any residual shortly after 2000 (some are saying 2001).
But what is important is not that he had them but that Bush told us that we were in immediate danger of him using them against us when, in fact, they had been destroyed. Remember all the false "intelligence" the Americans were suddenly being given that Saddam was trying to get "yellow cake" from Niger, remember when Colin Powell told us a canister that was actually used for other weaponary purposes could be used for biological warfare? All were mistruths. All were incorrect. There is a compoundance of actions that shows this admin. tried very hard to make a case for this war that many people bought in to that was and is FALSE. Al - Queda links? False. "Freed a nation", um, from the puppet dictator we put in place, only to put a new puppet government in place? er..okay, true. Also true is the fact that we did drive out the terrorists, we put all our troops in Iraq like a big red bulls eye and the terrorists are driving out for 'em, molotov cocktail in hand!

So Bush stands by what he says, and you can stand by what he says, but as for me, I like to go with the facts, not what I'm being force fed. There is hope for you, however, someday, you'll puke, instead of regurgitating all these things we're told, and you'll feel much better!

I dare people to really research why they are democrats

I used to be a Republican. Then I received my education and switched to the Democrat party. One of the key factors for me at the time was Ronald Reagan selling weapons to terrorists in order to surreptitiously disobey Congress and give money to the Honduran "Freedom Fighters," a group some might define as terrorists. Members of Congress had gone on multiple trips to Central America and made a determination that the "Freedom Fighters" were committing atrocities and that we did not want to associate ourselves with them or fund them any longer. So they cut funding. Reagan then gave them funds from his executive resources. Then Congress passed a law that he was not to give them any funds whatsoever. Then Col. North set up the scheme where weapons were sold to the very people who less than a decade ago stormed our embassy in Tehran and take the money he made in selling to the terrorists and give it to more terrorists.

So basically, I am a democrat because I support fighting terrorists, not creating them. Who got us into bed with Saddam? Ronald Reagan.

Another reason I became a Democrat is in the 80's I became concerned with the burgeoning deficits. I used to be a Republican because I support fiscal responsibility. Now that I why I have changed over to the Democratic party. They have proven themselves to be better stewards fiscally.

Another reason I support the Democratic ticket is I am concerned about the environment. Do I even need to explain why anyone who is concerned about the environment finds the Democrats support that issue more?

Another reason I support Kerry is I am a proud American who served my country for 8 years. It disgusts me that Bush shirked his responsibilities and didn't show up for a year. I also admire Kerry's courage in volunteering to go when he didn't have to. I am ashamed of Bush's temerity in pulling strings because he was afraid to face the danger.

I also support the Democrats because I come from a family of teachers. I believe education should be a priority. Bush says he wants to be the education president, but it seems he provides mandates without funding. Instead, he threatens to withdraw funding if students do not perform.

So, to summarize, I'm against terrorism, I'm for fiscal responsibility, I want to protect the environment, I'm a vet who respects actual military service (rather than shirking obligations), I admire courage, and want education to be a priority and you think that makes me a socialist?

Even if I were a socialist, what is so wrong? Tell me about how bad things are in Norway. Have you ever traveled to a socialist country? Do you have any idea what you are even talking about?

ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!!! This is the United States of America! Not the USSR, not Cuba, not North Korea, the USA. We are not parts of a machine without souls. We have thoughts and ideas. Unless of course, we are extreme leftists who believe the government should run our lives while we sit around and complain about it.

There is no proof he didn't go. The documents were destroyed. Read the news!!!! John Kerry went alright, and I commend him for that, but I lost all respect when he came home and spit on the very men he served with.

I do know what I'm talking about. I am an American first, a Republican second. If the Democratic candidate was a better choice, then so be it. But he's not. Try seeing the world outside the tunnel.

What is wrong with socialism is it leads to big government control and civil rights abuses of the individual.

I once was a socialist, but then I awoke to the fact that I shouldn't trust the government to solve my problems. The government is an inefficient steward of resources, and as the information relayed to the majority of voters is political spin, rather than factual analysis, the government often remains without accountability.

I have a very real, frightening experience with socialist minded individuals in our former home state. As a result, we had to leave the state immediately to preserve our family, and give up everything but three changes of clothing and one personal item apiece (my one personal item, my guitar, was sold for food).

So don't preach to me about the benefits of a socialist system. I have seen the very real and painful downsides.

I see. You define socialism as a system where government runs people's lives and the citizens sit around and complain about it. No wonder you would think it is so terrible to be a socialist. I define socialism to be a system where there is more intense government regulation and involvement in the market. The government gets involved in regulating the market in an effort to more equitably distribute wealth. You actually can have socialism without extreme violation of civil rights. Most reasonable people would call the former USSR and Cuba communist states. I would say North Korea pretends to be communist, but really it is a dictatorship. Norway is a good example of a socialist country. Do you think a majority of citizens are complaining in Norway about the government running their lives?

You wrote this response (with your five exclamation points) as a reply to my assertion the democrats are more fiscally responsible. Raising the taxes slightly on the wealthiest Americans would generate increased revenue for the federal government. If we maintained the same level of spending, but had more revenue, then the budget deficit would fall. Your reply is thus illogical. Mommaern, the fact I have to explain this to you and that your response is illogical (albiet passionate) only strengthens my point that the conservatives no longer represent financial wisdom.

Would you agree the Oklahoma City Bombing was an act of terror? What religion went radical there? Timothy McVeigh wasn't created by America?

The sad reality is, there are very real and painful downsides of any system of government. Just because you had a bad experience with a socialist system doesn't mean you might not have had a worse experience under a capitalist system. Using anecdotal evidence is indeed evidence, but it is the weakest kind of argument. You bring up your tale of woe under socialism, and I bring up Steinbeck's, The Grapes of Wrath, or Sinclair's, The Jungle.

I am certainly not "preaching" socialism. What did I write that gave you the impression I was preaching the benefits of socialism?

Timothy McVeigh wasn't created by America?

What the hell, wake up, America did not create Timothy McVeigh, McVeigh created his own terrorist self, are you saying America is guilty by association because Timmy went Whacko because of Waco, and that he is American, not going to even go further because I would only get more angry at such a rash and ignorant question.

On Terrorism, not just religion but politics make up a terrorist, who wishes to make his point by committing acts of terror, hence the name, acts of terror are one in which innocent people are harmed simply because the are associated, loosely or closely, to the target the Terrorist wants to hit.

All I have to say on Bush's Guard record is that if he was AWOL for a year he would have been deemed a deserter and persecuted to the full extent of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, hence he was neither demoted, nor punished in anyway by the Uniform Code of Military Justice, he was clearly from a LOGIC standpoint not AWOL, some other Military Veterans, besides myself can make this more clear and eloquent than I, but from my dealings with AWOL is that there is only a limited amount of time before you are declared a Deserter, for Active Duty it was and still is 30 Days After the initial AWOL date, for the National Guard they still have to enforce the AWOL penalties because that individual did sign a Contract voluntarily with the State in which they signed up with. The Uniform Code of Military Justice applies to all Military whether Active, Reserve or Guard, not to mention for Guardsmen there are probably additional rules added onto it. Look up the U C M J and read its rules and punishments for personnel who are AWOL.

All I have to say on Kerry is he made my Uncle, my Friends, and my Family's friends, returning from Vietnam, seem like complete criminals, and were treated as such when they returned home, and for that if any is reason enough for me to not VOTE for him. I won't even go into some of the EXTRA emotional trauma or harm done to these veterans that they received when they came home to such an environment.
