ign's review was very reasonable. they cited the actual issues with the game instead of bitching about no single player. i agree with the point they made that all the research is either limited or to inexpensive, as all players will research it all before the end of the game. there should be a greater reward to whoever researches the super weapon for that faction first, for example. i also agreed that the ai needs to surrender earlier. don't get me wrong, sins is an amazing game. i was a huge supreme commander fan, and this is superior to that. i was just highlighting what reviewers said and gave my opinion on what stardock should include in later patches.

You guys have got to be proud of how well Sins is being received... There just aren't many games out there that receive the kind of unanimous praise that this game is getting... It deserves every bit of praise, too. Congrats.

So, I'd have to agree with the reviews I've seen: They made a great game, but forgot the cheese: single player campaign introducing one new level of tech for a race at a time, with video story bits that unlock as you finish pieces of the single player game. Do that and you graduate from off brand to Blizzard quality. Bonus: you can skip building the tutorial. Minus: cinematic department cost. Level design wouldn't be any more than than the existing level design.

The story is there: Can easily start with vasari invasion, continue with Tec response, and finish with advent incursion. 30 levels, 9-12 more cinematics and voila, perfect game. That's what gets all the non complicated gamers playing.

i'm curious as to why people are saying this is a great game.


it isn't.

this comes after i have played the game for 24 hours, 3 different races in a variety of scenarios. flat out, this game sucks. why? simply because the game is totally unplayable no matter what is done. it is impossible for me to have won ANY of the 5 different maps that i've tried out as i cannot get anywhere past a few initial solar systems before being vastly overwhelmed and annihilated. no matter how many capital ships i might have (or total ships period), i always STILL get vastly overwhelmed and my entire fleet destroyed. now i'm not stupid, i've played games like this in the past and have always done very, very well in them, but this is the sole exception.

graphics-wise the game is freakin' sweet, so much kudos to your art department. but for terms of playability, i wish to high heaven that Best Buy had a return policy that allows opened and played games to be returned. how i wish i had waited for the demo and not wasted the money i did on this.

shda5582 - I would suggest spending more time to learn what you're doing and how to maximize the strengths and weaknesses of each race. As FrznMD said, just because you're having trouble doesn't mean Sins sucks. ;) 

There's a lot of existing threads on these forums that can help you out.

I did,

The game does not suck beccause of the mechanics.

My friends and I played this on the weekend at a LAN, and never played a stardock game, they were able to play it in no time.

Also, I thought America don't have returns policy?

Anyway, I'm surprised you guys haven't uploaded the UGO review I provided. They gave you all a 95%, since that's what a score of A equals.

As an RTS game I give it an 7 or 8 all the game needs is a a few tweaks here and there, but it is pretty polished. As a 4X this game pretty much suck compared to other 4X games. The 4X elements in this game is either shallow or non existent.

Well considering that most 4x games have been turn based affairs, I'm not sure I see your point. But meh, to each his own.

Turn based or not my point is the 4X part of the game is so basic or broken I'm not even sure if it should even be considered a 4X game. The game does not focus on diplomacy or empire building, in the end the game ends up being get the most territory by force and the biggest army wins. Well at least thats how its working for me, I could never win by cultural influence or by diplomacy.
