Classic movie moments

Classic movie moments

Hi all

what classic movie moments do you remember?

here are my favourites; and the winner is...

Action - Terminator 2, Terminator takes sunglasses from barkeeper.

Commedy - Steve martin gets whipped across the legs by Michael Cane in Dirty Rotten Scoundrils while pretending to be a cripple.

Inspirational - In the movie Amistad, prisoner 'C.K' stands up in court and says "give us, us free".

That movie (Amistad) moment gives me chills just thinking about it, oh and that actor (who is he by the way?), i saw him recently in Blood Diamond, and i will give particular mention to the scene where he kills the slave mine camp master - such pure raw emotion in that scene it is beyond scary, i will be waiting to see what shows he will be in next!

Yep, it's the holy grail of space battles, you get to see a fairly well sustained battle sequence with fantastic graphics supported by the Starwars sized budget -instead of the typical quick flashes of battle sequence in most other space battle movie scenes.

I don't know about that, I thought the space battle in Serenity was much better.

Comedy-wise, the two best "screams" have to be:

1. Cameron in Ferris Bueller after he sees the mileage on the car.

2. Daniel Stern in Home Alone when the tarantula is placed square on his face. That scream is bloodcurdling.

The first thing that is funny about that whole deal with the car, is the fact they think having the car in reverse will take mileage of the clock!!! Something i'd expect from a Monty Python movie...

The car being smashed to bits...sad...as is the roof being cut of the viper in The Nutty Professor.

One of my favorite scenes from Patton:

(Russian General speaks to an interpretor)

Interpretor: General Zhukov wants to know if you'd like to share a vodka.

Patton: Tell him there is no way in hell I'm sharing a drink with some Russian S.O.B. Go on, tell him...word for word.

(Interpretor relays message to Zhukov, who suddenly looks VERY cheesed off, then speaks to the interpretor.)

Interpretor: General Zhukov says he thinks you're a S.O.B, too."

Patton: (pause) Well in that case tell him two S.O.B's are gonna share a drink!

Serenity space battle was good, but too quick to best starwars in my opinion. It was also a little illogical that a group of mindless deseased savages could somehow form an offensive fleet out of space junk that could challenge the established military??

Well, they didn't really challenge the military as a group, just those ships that happened to have gathered at that area. Plus, the military did beat them.

In any case, it was a bit short. I've never been terrible fond of the Sith battle, I think that Battlestar does the whole capitol ships and fighters job much better.

Fair comment

hehehe yea.... even dissconnecting the speedo cable from the gearbox and winding it in reverse will not work.

One of my favorite scenes from Patton:

I think my favourite military commander (of the movies) was that general in... in... oh i seem to have forgotten the name of the movie? The russion general anyway in that movie featuring a russian sniper during the battle of Leningrad.

My favourite line from the general "you lost half your men! well loose the other half then, better yet, loose yourself" (slams phone down).

Thats General kruschev....as in future premier kruschev i think...that was a funny line though

Ah i just remembered a brilliant movie moment....

Startrek First Contact, The deflector dish is cut away from Enterprise with borg drones on it, Worf say's "assimilate this" and blows it up!

Later they cleverly used the first contact incident to create a borg episode for the Enterprise series.

Re-opening the SpaceShips "battle" scene file;

1) Voyager's Dragon's Tooth episode has a very intense "escaping" combo which last a mere 40+ seconds and, tops anything i've ever seen in hundreds of movies and other TeeVee shows.

2) X-Files UFO leaves Earth from Antarctica ice-cap.

3) Close Encounters/3rd/Kind Alien-mother-ship slowly hovering above Devil's peak to gently place itself on a makeshift tarmac and then, starts its colored music cues. Astonishing.

4) One sentence; Riker's Enterprise (Warp 15??, what!) from the future.

Yup, sums it up. Nothing else.

Voyager had such outstanding sci fi effects that they could easily have no script, have the characters sit around and play cards every episode and people would still watch it!

I remember trying to hire voyager series at the video store when it was still running - you would have to climb over the bodies of 100 people to get to it!! not the same at all with this new 'Enterprise' series, new episodes just gathered dust in the video store .... the store got about 5 cd's in and then stopped bying any more after that. Yes Enterprise is ok but when compared to voyager it is nothing.

2) X-Files UFO leaves Earth from Antarctica ice-cap.

I found the whole Alien angle in X files to be a bit of an excercise of futility - not quite as pathetically futile as Dark Skies series tho!

To mix things up, this one's from a Tee Vee show.

Right at the end of the Enterprise episode In a Mirror, Darkly,
when Hoshi proclaims herself Empress. That grin is deliciously evil.

Pretty much the last part of Jimmy Stewarts speech while filibustering congress in Mr. Smith Goes To Washington and talking to the corrupt senator about lost causes.Brings a tear to me I it does!

1:the scene from Godzilla vs Hedorah where Godzilla flies using his atomic breath and the scene were he is ripping Hedorah (A.K.A The Smog Monster) into shreads.
2:the Spinosaurus and T-rex fight and the Spinosaur boat attack from Jurassic Park III.
