Hi all and Welcome to The Metaverse League.

This thread is dedicated to the signing up of players to the League.

If your reading about the League for the first time please have a look at the
"The Metaverse League" thread to get up to speed with what the league is about.

Please post you character name that you wish to play as in this thread. It may be a new character, an old one or even one aligned to an empire. Look to the current round thread at the time for game parameters and to the "Metaverse League" thread for all your queries, also if you need help, leave a post and we will be more than happy to answer you.

I think I covered this by posting in the other thread, just trying to play by the rules here.

I'd like join the MVL using my secondary character a.k. a. Captain Oblivious, that I use for fooling around and testing things.

Looking forward for a chance to try this out.

Just to give a heads up that for the next round (MVL round 10) I will be out since I'm on holiday for 3 weeks in July.

Very likely I'll rejoin for round 11.

EDIT: looks like I was still in time for round 10, thanks to Silverbeacher for reminding me!

I'm interested in joining the MVL. I have been playing GalCivII since it's release, but have just recently started browsing the forums. Until just a few weeks ago, I thought the Metaverse was for multiplayer ;)

The character that I'd like to use is RhetoricalSun.

Nope, no multiplayer, which is one reason the MVL was formed. :) We are currently only a week and a half into the current round (they run for about a month), so I think you should be able to join in immediately.

If the current commissioner, SilverBeacher, doesnt respond quickly, then one of us other League admins will assign you to a team.

Check out the Round 10 link for the round settings.

I'm glad I can play a part :) This seems to be a lot like the GOTM for Civilization, and seems to be a fun way to get pushed out of my comfort zone.

I looked at the settings for Round 10, and I have to say that I had quite a shock. I have never had a diplomatic victory before (I usually do conquest, or if I get lazy, influence), and have never played on a map set up quite this way. I usually go for abundant on everything :)

As for the nickname, I can't claim full originality. It's actually the name of a color of a solid surface counter-top product that I use at work. I would love to meet the guys that come up with the names for color ;)

Conjunction Junction was part of a series of saturday morning public service ads run in the 80s in a vain attempt to make up for america's pathetic educational system, teaching children about such basic things as grammatical conjuctions and the number 3. you know, because who needs teachers anyway. examples:

I didnt notice anything in regards to that, but really, that should only annoy you if you believe magic is real.  :LOL: And you better not disagree with me, or I'll put a hex on you...

Is this for 'good' players only or can a 'noob' join as well? I've played the game since its release but never on metaverse and i hardly ever finish a game because i'm never really satisfied with whatever galaxy settings i choose, so i usually start a new game instead of loading up an older one. So i thought this might be the right thing for me as the settings in the MVL are predefined - plus with the teams and stuff, there's a real 'reason' to continue and finish a game. This probably all sounds stupid but that's me ;p

So what do you think?

i don't think it sounds stupid at all; in fact, that's very much how i was before starting to play in the MVL. so let me be the first to say, welcome aboard! Silverbeacher should be along some time today to also greet you and assign you to a team.

cool! :) but i think i'll have to wait till monday for stardock to delete my character - i accidentally entered the serial of the original game when creating it, instead of the toa serial... does anyone know if that matters?

i don't believe it should matter. AFAIK they're actually the same basic serial number, with a suffix to identify which version of the game it is. that shouldn't matter at all for creating an MV character. i know i created mine with my DA serial, but i've been able to submit TA games without having to make any changes and updates.

also, you're allowed to use whatever version of the game you prefer in MV games.
