What do you like about Sins?

What do you like about Sins?

So we don't accidently remove it

Hey all you space rats!,

As weird as it may seem, it'd be great if everyone could post here all the things they like about Sins since we are now focusing on non-technical issues. The reason for this is we don't want to accidently remove the cool, fun and exciting stuff as we go about adding in new features, fixing bugs, balancing and trying out ideas. If you don't let us know we have no idea what IS working (the other threads are already giving a great idea of what isn't working ).

Thanks for all your help,
Blair

-The whole zoom-in and zoom-out aspect.

-Opening theme music fits the game perfectly and puts you in the mood for 'galactic conquest'.

-Watching fighters/bombers explode.

-Multiple weapons systems on cap ships.

-Cap ship leveing system, unique abilities, and designs (Love the akkan).

-Shields! I just love watching those shields take a pounding.

-The backrounds look great, I especially like the dark green/black ones.

-Ships should have a little more maneuvering power(sorry had to sneak that in there.)

I like that it'll run on my laptop, and that it doesn't need a cd to do that. I like that a lot. Oh, and I also like that it looks gorgeous on high. Great job making it require so little, yet be able to deliver so much prettiness. Oh, and I hope you don't get angry that I have the music in mp3 on my ipod, but me likes very much.

I like the background of Sins, the story and the races is what hooked me at first.

I like the way its organize, and I love the way the game draws me in to it. The music score is good, the graphics are good the battle scenes are not sub-par(but could be better).

The game manages itself well and isnt as cumbersome as it appears at first. I think the pip system on the side could be modernized a bit.

I like the way fleets can decide things for themselves, although I would like to see somekind of automatic patrol order(Like the explore order for the Scout) so they roam on their own protecting border planets from threats.

I also like the way the planet and space systems are designed. Though the planet ones could use a little improvement.

The game is still too slow for viable online play(and competitve online play). If the game balances itself well and fits typical time constraints then it will be great to play online and off.

I totally agree with what everyone liked above me. Here's a few things I didn't see...

1) Voice acting. I really like it right now. The chatter before a jump and the notifications of battle all sound excellent along with the other speech.

2) Performance. This thing churns out eye candy and does with style, no hickups or long load screens.

3)Copy protection. Almost none to speak of. After reading an article about Stardock I purchased GalCiv2 partly for that very reason and GalCiv2 led me to Sins which continues the the trend of non-invasive trust.

4)Beta for all pre-orders. Its so awesome that I am playing this game months before its release rather than pining away like the sucker I usually am .

5)AI. While it has some issues it also has some high points. They have personality. I see some AI going heavy military and others rushing out their propaganda towers. And then (even though repetitive) they talk to you, make you angry with their snide remarks and give you a much better reason to crush them into dust than any other RTS in skirmish mode. And their weak pleas of "Im not completely useless" amuse me.

6)Developers who read their forums and not only that, they interact with their consumers. This really has made me feel quite happy that I gave you money .

That's a very important remark.

Simply said, the gals/guys from Ironclad rule. The Stardockians rule too of course, but since they're already our Overlords, they don't need mentioning.

The devs have quite a lot of patience. They always respond very friendly, even when they were attacked in certain posts and the game was put down.

So to repeat it again it can't be repeated nearly enough the devs are one of the things you just have to like about Sins.

Yeah, long live the Devs!

I agree with all the likes here.

And will reiterate the ones that just knocked me over upon playing (and replaying):

The graphics and UI - award winning.
Game scale - both graphically and play
Zoom to cursor!
The empire management tree on the left - genius.
Specialized ships. Venteran ships/crews.
All the attention to detail. Really shows the love of labor, that extra mile (hours) put in to get something just right.

And outside of playing . . .
The consistent and professional attitude and attention by everyone working on this product. This is/will be my first Stardock/Ironclad product. Sign me up for the next one.

Time for some positive feedback I guess

- The visual effects i.e. lighting, shields, phase jumps, explosions.
- Planets (though they do rotate a little too fast, I sure wouldn't want to live there)
- End of game stats like your spending of resources vs time.
- By having multiple gravity wells you have a strategic element to a space RTS because you have to plan your moves.
- Having NPC forces so resources cannot be simply taken over with 1 small ship
- The interface is very good, I can't say I have got the hang of it yet but I've not used it much. It is clear though that it can handle complex commands with minimal hassle.
- Depth this game has depth I hate to think how many combinations of ships + abilites there could be with 3 races.
- Music is good
- Tutorials were good
- In game battle chatter + events
- Random solar systems

I love the detail that's on the ships & planets, but I would also like to see even higher res LOD textures for when you're zoomed in on a cap ship or plant as close as you can go.

I love the pacing. I love the fact that I am playing an RTS, and thus not waiting for my turn button to reset, but at the same time am not rushed into defeat by a lack of super stressful immediacy.

Playing Sins can be dramatic at times, but its also very comfy.

Thats right, its a Comfy RTS/4X.

-After the Vasari has arrived, space battles has become so much more colorful, with all the bullets, plasma, waves, pulse beams and what not

-Vasari skins OMG great job, love there stile and the reflections on the hulls
-Also if you look closely on the "Jarrasul" capital ship you see a small city love the small details, and im sure i havent discovered everything yet.

-Game speed is also perfect now, the now Normal speed is just right and the fast is good for those who want a quick game.

-The Vasari music... :D love it, its dark, cold and fits the Vasari very well.

the AI isnt on par with a player character, but yes the way you can bowl over AI from any range with ease is a proof of concept. you can even bridge two sides of a 100 planet solar system with ease, if you can get your arkaton there.

What I like most about Sins is the highly interactive development process between the developers and the end users. In my opinion this singular fact has established the broad foundation for success that this title will enjoy after its public release.
i would really like sins the way it is plus maybe a see through research interface so i can see actions and incoming threats at any given time without having to fill the whole screen to a different window.

I can also say that i really like the Vasari even tho i expected them to be different
All hail the Vasari!!!

I just got the beta today and played through a 1v1 vs. the computer.

On my first impressions...I REALLY like the blend between automation and micromanagement. I love how fleets to go business without me having to babysit them, I like how they defend systems without babysitting, etc.

I also like how involved Stardock is with player feedback. Very nice! I'll be posting more.

Love the touches on settled planets, the civilian ships buzzing around, in orbit. I'm a big fan of small polishing touches like that.

I really like the merchant fleets...good touch to attack trade routes.

Awesome beta...best, most complete, most stable I've ever seen!
