Would you care to run it on Very Slow tech for me? 

It looks like I should have my desktop up and running again inside two weeks, so I'll probably hold off on starting anything until then.  But I'm taking recommendations on tech speed for my next few games in the pipeline-especially that one where I can't research, that's going to be loads of fun!

Not this one, since i want to try this game as a type of continuous game (i expect and hope for a game length of about 20 years), but the terran diplo game i will though.

It can be.  The same AI's keep trying to extort money and send threats, but they appear to be empty ones.  I built my two huge fighters and fleeted them with huge empty hulls (with engines, ofc).  I went looking for a fight, but the ones with the biggest mouths didn't declare.  I went with attacking the closest enemy, the Torians.  

On paper, they should be wiping the floor with my limp and dying body.  In reality, I have their ass and am packaging it up for return delivery.  I've lost a total of one planet and have gained 7 so far.  My main limitation is distance to target with my slow transports.  I need more tech in pretty much everything, but the Torians have been kind enough to leave some behind at every planet I've taken.  

Their fighters in route have taken several of my fully loaded transports down before they could strike.  If I had better sensor tech, I'd be able to see them before choosing my path.  Those are the breaks.

My empty hulls aren't gaining as much experience as they did in my other game, but that makes sense.  The fighters I'm up against are considerably weaker.  I also don't have the engine and miniaturization tech move around very well.  Those things will change as time goes on.

The AI have been taking the minors out for some weeks and I haven't even met them all.  Hopefully, they'll leave some for me.  

Year 2 will be closing soon and I'm still in last place in everything except economy and population.  I'm not first in any stat, but I'll be climbing the ladder as I take more planets.

My focus for now is to get my empty hulls leveled up so they can be upgraded to fighters.  Gaining planets and tech along the way is a nice bonus.

 

LOL.  In my case, it's more like Raj and Howard circling each other in the Big Bang Theory, talking the big talk, but never landing a punch.  I finally pulled the trigger toward the latter part of year 2 and even then, it wasn't exactly spectacular.  

It's more realistic than an all out slugfest though, and in many ways, more fun.  The AI have somewhat of a chance to do some damage even if the final outcome can be pretty much taken for granted.  

This is likely going to be a long game.

Thanks Mina!! I had been looking for a new avatar for a while, it needed to be both evil and yet still look amazing! I think this fits the bill perfectly, also, it brings focus to the eye much like the ToE avatar does.

 May I run this by you all and then you all can chew on the bone! Tell me what you think?

I know you are looking for different ways to play but have you ever consider playing as a good.  If you wanted to, you may take a new or low level character and join my little Empire.

 My goal is being active, not the score itself, anyway you may remove your character any time you want because it will not bother me one way or another.   Also it would help me to get some answers on how to improve on my longer games as being good and not my one hour cheese games ( with help of AutoHotKey) I have been playing, Your insight on the game is a lot better than mine and the advice would help the new players on my empire thread running as good characters plus the activity would be a bonus for both of us.

Maybe by doing this will stir up much needed talk.

I'm not playing for score at all, just for fun, but in particular in new and different ways. That being sad, i'm still going to have to do that within the confines of tyranny and treachery.

Played out my latest game, it's a reply of the game i was talking about in the Game Thread. I won't post about in there, that thread has got some great activity going, and my game wasn't anything to write home about.

I played with these rules. Never attack anyone and seek out friendship where possible.
I ended up with an alliance victory in 5 years. i could have turned on my many ally's, which by games end were,
Drath, Arceans, Drengin and Yor, but i wanted to adhere to my policy of attacking no-one.

Only player i took out was the Korx. The Altarians and Torians surrended to me and the Iconians and Terrans surrendered to the Drath.

Was a good game but was starting to drag on. time to take a little break and play some Anno 2070 i think!

I finished my "good" game too.  It was basically a love fest from the start and dragged on later when the Drengin and Thalans didn't want to ally with me.  I finally stopped trying and just wiped them out.  Mine was only 3 years compared to your 5.  I think I would have pulled some hair out if mine went to 5.

 

Yeah, the idea was to the let the game dictate the direction, and that coupled with my rule about not attacking anyone, really opened the door for some very boring periods. I think i went about 18months doing nothing but building out planets and shoring up my navy.

Im into Anno 2070 atm, but i want to try TA again, i may use some of mods (which would make it sheat flag) to make the game more appealing.

I cannot post without mentioning Mumbles 1.2M ZYW....WOW, what an effort!

The one thing I want for GC3 is a Mod Metaverse.

Agreed. We tried to do something like this with the MVC just after the Altmeta was done, but by then the community had already subsided.

Love to see it happen in GC3, but at this point, i'd settle for GC3 in any form. Perhaps after FE fails they might visit GalCiv again.

Hello, new to the metaverse (only have two games under my belt). I tend to win through cultural victories but I often go EVIL during my games, both metaverse AND non-metaverse. Warning, as you can see by my avatar, I like the ponies.

ponies arn't for eating, they are for corrupting people with cuteness, no one ever suspects the cute ponies as being unholy forces of evil.

For any old heads reading, i started playing some shits and giggels games the other day. I was trying to create the weakest race i possibly could and see how i could go in winning the game, no cheese plays at all.
Wiped out 3 times already....will try again after i install Win8.

Been fun though...

I install GC2 with the intent of actually playing a game....but mostly, I just end up spending time in the Ship Builder.
