Well, I think I figgered out why that one game didn't post to the Metaverse ... my error, more than likely. I had restarted a Metaverse game (I'm sure it was!) because I made a dumb selection error with the mouse (don't ask) and apparently when I restarted what I thought was a new Metaverse game, I was in such a huff I started a regular game. I think this is so because when I got to the same level of shipbuilding in the following game, none of the ships I had created in the supposed Metaverse game were there. Since I think, not sure, that I gave the ships unique names in that game, they were categorized as metaverse designs or regular designs... Anyhoo, when I completed another game, it posted fine. Just thought it might make some good trivia for a "I stepped on my ***** more spectacularly than you did, ha-ha-ha" post.

ElWhop0, Brogan and Krankher -- I see that you managed to submit some nice games this weekend -- huzzah!

Brogan, what are the stats on your Viking Confederation, if you don't mind me asking? My custom race, The Rich Rabbits, are Super Breeder, Speed +2 and a mix of Economics/Morale (can't recall the numbers). Not a very creative name, mind you, but it suits them. They also seem to do quite well when they're my opponents, which is both good and bad.

Would be nice to get us a few new people for our empire. Anybody interested?

I only play for a short time each day and sometimes I miss a day or two, so it takes me at least a month to complete a gigantic game.

It's good to see another empire starting to come together and look like it will be a success. I just want to remind folks about the ongoing vote for two new Metaverse Council (MVC) councilors.

Your vote in this matter will be greatly appreciated. See the Voting for MVC Councilors starts Now thread for details.

Also, over and above simply voting for councilors, the MVC wants and needs the participation of all that are interested in the success of the metaverse. We need your ideas, your support and your approval.

I'm not sure how much, or how little, folks in general know about the MVC and what it is we're trying to do. This is not really the place to go into all that anyway. If you don't already know, just do a search on Council or MVC and you'll find plently of threads that will lead you in the right direction.

Also, this empire needs a forum banner. I've worked up a couple recently for the HCH and the Tyranny. Any ideas for icons to go beside the empire name? Something that's recognizable at about 32 pixels high, btw.

ghostwes, my former emporer got banned so I guess I need to find a new home. I was born almost exactly in the middle of the '60s. If you'll accept a (former?) score-scoffer into the fold, I'd like to join.

And I guess I should mention that I'm one of the first at-large reps to the MVC, although I've been on informal hiatus recently b/c real life hit a most unpleasant and demanding stretch. I haven't had time to stay caught up with the current election threads, but I do encourage folks to vote.

Yes I did vote. I like to do simple stuff. I need motivation though. I'm such a sensitive artiste! If a simple pic is needed, I could try and do something, if I had an idea to work with. The scrooge toon pic is so cute tho! I like it!

I just keep it in a text file along with my AltMeta banner. I took the code from the AltMeta banner and repurposed it for the empire banner, then stuck them both together. There's no blockquote feature here, so you'll have to painstakingly replace all of the angle brackets ( { and } ) with square brackets ( [ and ] ) to make it work.

There is no signature file, unfortunately, you just have to paste it in every time.

The lamentably fierce Wheel of Fire had founded the Empire of Standards, which I joined largely b/c I'm a grammar nanny and a (lapsing?) scorescoffer.

My scores are aging like the rest of us, but I'll probably get a new gigantic game finished in a couple-few weeks. I'd've had about 19k more if I hadn't gotten all snarled up in nickname changes and serial # problems.



p.s. To ghostwes: the banner stuff is HTML tags folks add manually to messages. The forum doesn't support sig files. You can get tags for your Altmeta banner from your character page over there (although I can't seem to get mine to switch to a Thalan background just now).

Hmm, well that part worked, at least. Will have to keep working on this, I guess.

Marshall, I hate to be a bother, but there seems to be a slight problem with the image. The white horizontal lines that cover the top half of the image seem to go over the character's upper face, where you probably intended the face to be on top. If it's not easy to fix, not a problem.

I've been desperately attempting to win a game using the Dominion of Korx, for a Gerontocracy score, my racial victory medal, and also for the ongoing "loser" contest, but I just cannot win with them to save my life. Not sure what my problem is, heh. I think I've given up on four games with them so far.

Here's an alternate banner for you with Scrooge on top of the gloss layer.

The last time I played the Korx, Diplomacy was still a powerful attribute, and I was able to build up enough of a military to fend off the inevitable assault. It helps to have other evil factions in the game for the good guys to kick around, but don't let yourself become too much weaker than them, or they will gun for you early. Try to start fights between other factions. Also, as I do with all evil factions, I built the Mind Control Center very early. Its econ boost always seems to kick in just in time.
