Ever played a game where you knew...just knew that if you could have talked to the developers even a week or two before they went gold that they could have made the game so much better?

With Sins of a Solar Empire that is exactly what you'll be able to do! Users who pre-order the game will be given access to the beta. No non-disclosures. You don't like what we're doing, you're free to howl from the rooftops about it. Our job (at Ironclad and Stardock) is to make sure that the final game is as good as we can make it.

By pre-ordering and being in the beta, you can let us know what things you think needs to be tweaked. What game mechanics need refinement or even what additions you think the game makes.

That way, the final game is not just more reliable and stable but also has the balancing and tweaking that normally gamers have to wait to some post release "patch" (for those games that even do address balance after release).

The first beta is due out after the New Year (think January).

We look forward to seeing you!  Just click on the store link to pre-order. You can download it or you can have the final version sent to you in its retail box form (and still download it).

Should I be concerned that I haven't received any sort of email confirmation of my order?

If you're unsure of the status of your preorder, just contact [email protected] and they can look it up for you.

You should have gotten an email, so please check that messages from stardock.com arent' getting filtered. [email protected] can check on pre-orders for you; if you purchased via Tokens then I can check also.

Have system requirements been released yet, I know I will need to upgrade I just want to know how much before I pre-order.
Not yet. What's your system like?

Please note that we are only selling the English language version of the game direct.

You're going to release the game in multiple languages? I'll take english any day, but i'm quite sure the Germans don't.

What Yarlen said

What they're really saying is that they can't understand foreign input.

After all, comments in German aren't really that helpful. Maybe just a little bit. . .

We're looking at Polish, Russian, German and French language versions right now, though this may (and probably will) change.

Stardock will be handling the localization so that we can keep tabs on quality and make sure it's done right. I personally have a very high standard in mind for Sins, so I'm not handing off anything to a 3rd party that may impact the play experience.

A campaign hasn't been decided upon yet. The resources may go into the sandbox game instead.

I think that would be a very wise choice.

You have no chance to survive make your time?

hmmm, it seems editing posts in Opera Explorer is impossible....

....just outta curiosity....is that the final design for the boxart?

No, that's just a placeholder until the final box is done (which won't be until much closer to release).

to bad, I like this one. It's better then any most boxes i've got on my shelf, maybe with the exception of 'C&C The first decade' and 'Neverwinter Nights 2 (lawfull good)'

'Neverwinter Nights 2

dammit, I dont have the required Direct 3D needed for that game

butt, frick, and darnit (with their generic twins mixed in)

There is not enough detail about the game for me to pre-order,but I'm very interested.I think the devs should copy these kind of gameplay examples if they want higher pre-orders.

This type of gameplay example will start showing up next year. It's too soon right now to put those together and really show off all that the final game will offer. We're still very far off from release.

Greetings,

Sins is now available for pre-order via TotalGaming.net. Please note that tokens may be used for the digital version only. We're not able to offer boxed versions via tokens.

Boo.

question, this might have been said somewhere, but what does [Download + CD] mean?
does that mean we order and get the download on the same day, and the CD after a week or two? (although for 10$ s&h, i'd expect is in 2 days)

ps. Do we have to pay double VAT over it in non-us countries?

Yes, you get the digital download on release and we also ship a retail box copy to you. Shipping is done via USPS. I have no idea on VAT, but I think you only get tagged once.

So is this offer going to be valid up until the game goes gold or will it stop being offered before then?

Hmm?  Not sure I follow.  After Sins goes gold, we'll continue to sell it with the same options.

You can download it while you wait for them to ship the CD. This is a standard option.

Am I correct?
