Ever played a game where you knew...just knew that if you could have talked to the developers even a week or two before they went gold that they could have made the game so much better?

With Sins of a Solar Empire that is exactly what you'll be able to do! Users who pre-order the game will be given access to the beta. No non-disclosures. You don't like what we're doing, you're free to howl from the rooftops about it. Our job (at Ironclad and Stardock) is to make sure that the final game is as good as we can make it.

By pre-ordering and being in the beta, you can let us know what things you think needs to be tweaked. What game mechanics need refinement or even what additions you think the game makes.

That way, the final game is not just more reliable and stable but also has the balancing and tweaking that normally gamers have to wait to some post release "patch" (for those games that even do address balance after release).

The first beta is due out after the New Year (think January).

We look forward to seeing you!  Just click on the store link to pre-order. You can download it or you can have the final version sent to you in its retail box form (and still download it).

The campaign wasn't included in the public beta for GC2. My personal guess is the same thing will go for Sins.

hot damn...

isnt that a bit... much... for a preorder???
theres still a year to go, and we aren't sure how the game'll run yet!!!

The preorder is the full price of the game. There is no preorder box at retail--all the preorders here will be fulfilled by us directly.

A campaign hasn't been decided upon yet. The resources may go into the sandbox game instead.

So, If we preorder in Januari, we still get in the beta? And to add to p5y, how much for shipping it to the rest of europe?

No, that's just a placeholder until the final box is done (which won't be until much closer to release).

The final game will be at retail as well, but you can only get into the beta by pre-ordering direct from Stardock.

Usually the way we work is is that those who pre-order before the beta and for a couple weeks after it starts will gain access to it (at which time your credit card will be charged). After that period, the beta will close again until its next phase. So if you miss the first part, you'll have to wait until the next one (which could be several months distant).

If you order a boxed copy direct, then shipping is usually $5 in North America and $10 for the rest of the world. Please note that we are only selling the English language version of the game direct.

Any other questions, just post here.

2 questions:

1. The checkout page doesn't mention any shipping cost even with the CD version. You don't plan to add that on later do you?

2. You have the paypal logo stamped on your page but don't seem to give a way to use it. Am I missing something?

PayPal doesn't support the 'Buy now, get charged later' thing, so it isn't an option for preorders. It can be used to buy products after release, though.

1) Shipping is $5 in North America and $10 everywhere else. I'll ask the powers that be to indicate that on the Store page.

2) Yeah, as Kryo said, PayPal doesn't support pre-orders. It may be possible to use PayPal for a time after the beta starts, but it'll depend on how things work out.

Is there any way of using TG.net tokens to preorder?

Not yet, but there will be soon (it's what I've been working on today).   It will be a 5 token purchase.

Greetings,

Sins is now available for pre-order via TotalGaming.net. Please note that tokens may be used for the digital version only. We're not able to offer boxed versions via tokens.
