The High Command Hegemony

An Important message from the High Command Hegemony!

The High Command is looking for players to join its empire. My empire is new, no more than a week old, but looking for domination. Anyone who wants to join is welcome, and anyone who posts points I'll make a Senator. For domination through logic, join the High Command Hegemony!

Hi. I like the Empire Logo but someone else could come up with a better one or polish the one we have now. Unluckily I'm not much of an artist (just ask my old kindergarten teacher).
The screenshots idea is great, as I am not participating in the beta either, not credit card for me right now
I agree about the minors, they were really great in GCI, I'd like they would do more in this game but as already said somewhere else in the forums, they were nerved because they were to powerfull in GCI.
Let's keep working for that 3 million mark. I hope to submit a game today (but i don't know how the score will be, I'm already in the 8th year in th game).

Re miners, its the opposite in DA - the factories have been nerfed to provide incentive to mine, and to use a new Industrial Production Improvement - the Power generators (three levels - Fusion (+10%), Anti-Matter (+20%) and Quantum (+30%). They are still balancing everything - a tricky job due to the huge number of new features, but so far the miners are shaping up nicely.

There have been a few crashes - one notable type they are beavering away try to track down at the moment - but so far I am very very impressed. There is a massive number of new features, and to have so few crashes is a real pat on the back for the dev teams. They are doing their usual great job.

I'll try to time out this weekend and get a few screen shots for you.

Hey everyone, I just checked our score and we broke 3 million!

I do like the logo, lord knows I could not do any better. I guess the only thing about the logo I do not really care for is the bright Icon with the triangle, it does not really fit in my opinion.

As far as the slogan, I like "Our logic is undeniable" as stated in previous posts by other members. However, I am also a bit dark at heart so I would have to go with something like...

Absolute Logic through Mass Chaos.

Way to go everyone on reaching the 3 million mark! May the next 3 million be just as fun!

Hi! I went ahead and changed the empire slogan to "Our Logic is Undeniable," it seems like the one most of you guys like.

The next 3 million should be a lot of fun, since it will be the harder fought 3 million; I like to think the harder the better.

Well, it looks like The Overmind is collapsing, so we won't have to worry about them. The Orcas and the Diplomats are a good 3 million away, so I guess we are going to have to dig and play hard. If anyone wants to join our cause and join a growing community, come join the High Command Hegemony!

Our Logic is Undeniable!

Hello fellow members of Hegemony. I imagine I may have the lowest point total submitted to the empire - but I will continue to add more scores as I learn how to do more than just avoid anihilation. I have adopted a logo based on an old War of the Worlds TV pilot that never made it (by George Pal). Hopefully I will do the Martians proud.

Hail Senators of the HCH!!

Brezelius sends his greetings. The Martians have determined that they would like to see a competition among the members of the empire. Our humble opinion is that we could pick a weekend in which all members would try to submit a game(s). The charater earning the most points during that weekend would be recognized. This might cause a jump in the empire's point total bringing more glory and perhps new members to the High Command Hegemony. Does this sound like a good idea? Please give your imput!

Sounds like an interesting idea. What do you people think of it?
I'd like to take part in such an event.
Greetings to you all.

I *like* the idea! I wonder if we can also get some prize/s into the mix? Total Gaming memberships/renewals anyone?

Sounds like a good idea to me.

Just a couple of draw backs.

First, not all of us have off during the weekends, or our weekends are actually during the weekdays. Secondly, some of us have several games nearing completion. If I complete all 5 games I am currently running, which I did not start on said weekend, would that give me an unfair advantage?

Just a thought.

Good point Quixen. Maybe we can make it in a whole week, not only a weekend, and limit it to one, or any number of games we agree, per person. We can make it so that even if you send more than one game, only the best score we'll be counted. That way people are encouraged to send games but we don't penalize people who can't send more than one. But then we make it into a quasi competition of who is best playing GalCiv2 and the people who are at the top of the Metaverse will just win. Someone can think of something?

Jeff Graw, it's true some prizes would add something nice to the mix. I see only one little problem, since TG has, as of now, not yet decided to sponsor this competition (we'd really need a name by the way) we have to see how we can pay for the prizes. Right now donations come to my mind. If some people donate we can pool it in a PayPal account and then buy the prize for the winner. If someone else has another idea as how to pay for the prizes and/or some other prizes (that might not involve money) then please express yourself.

Another point would be when the competition should be. If it were for me, I'd say let's do it in January. I have college examinations starting tomorrow 'till the 22. of December, then comes Christmas and then I'm going to Berlin for the new year with my GF and some friends. So I'll not be able to play untill at least the 3. of January. But anyway, it shoud be when everybody agrees.

And the last point, is there anybody who can programm here? I think it is possible to work with the RSS feeds of the Metaverse to make a ranking (like the alternative metaverse created by kryo), otherwise we'd have to do it manually
Well, that was a long post.

Greetings to you all.

Ugh. Remind me NEVER to limit my victory options to "conquest" again. Especially on a gigantic map. I'd have won ages ago through complete cultural saturation of the universe or by holding together a fragile alliance of bickering allies or by researching the unknowable, but instead I had to waste countless billions of lives, massacre my tried and true allies, and plunge the galaxy into an orgy of blood for the sake of gratifying my insatiable ego. I spent dozens of turns doing the tedious job of a logistics officer, moving hundreds of taskforces and troop ships into position like some scifi version of the German military planners of WWI setting troop train schedules. Never again.

For those of you who enjoy conquest victories, how do you deal with the mind numbing logistics and tedium of destroying thousands of ships? Is there a simpler way to do all this that I'm missing?

Well, on a positive note, I earned a fracking lot of points for this one stupid game, so we can all reap the benefits. Glory to the High Command Hegemony! Glory!

Hail HCH and good day. Instabattles is a good way to shorten this up. In game, go into the menu, then interface. In the Battle Legnth box set it to Instant Battle. You don't get to see the ships fighting but the amount of time saved in incredible. This works for space battle with ships and destroying ships guarding planets. Hope this helps!

It does start to get a bit dull when you're about halfway through and you realize that there is nothing left that can can stop you. I've played gigantic conquest twice now, and I doubt I'll put myself through it again. I don't know why I thought it would be more fun the second time...

Anyway, if the engine components in regular GC2 get made as large as the ones in the DA beta, thus drastically reducing speed across the board, I don't think any kind of gigantic game will be much fun.

Fuels Chief -- Thanks for the tip. I'll absolutely do that... Part of the boredom was waiting for combat lags to resolve themselves. I like watching my death beams and other assorted kick-ass weaponry disolve enemy ships but in a game where you literally have to destroy thousands of enemy ships, you just don't need to see the sparklers every time...

MarshallONeil -- I've been following the (heated) discussion about speed on other threads and I think I understand where the developers are coming from. But on a gigantic map it adds to the German military planning factor in a major way. It's sad to admit, but I just don't have that kind of patience. Ever read Haldeman's Forever War? They'd send taskforces out to take enemy planets realizing that it would take decades for the troops to reach their objective and when they did they faced an enemy that had years to develop more advanced weaponry. I think of that story every time this subject comes up. Makes for good scifi, but not so much for gaming...

Yes; my favorite part was that because of the relativistic nature of the war, nobody was ever sure who had really fired the first shots.

Berzelius: I like the idea of a competition among us! I think it should be week long competition and if we do it, it should be sometime in January because of the holiday season. To be fair, like Kudlelv said, we should only count the highest scoring game each person submits. But also to be fair to the ones playing for fun, we could also have a competition for the most number of quality games submitted, I would like some better ideas for this though.

As for prizes, I really don't have any ideas at this point, I'll let you guys decide on that   .

Cumberburg: Congratulations on your game! I always like to leave my victory options open in case I get stuck in a situation that you describe. Fuels Chief's advice to help that problem is the way to go if you want to go the conquest route, but it will still take sometime.

Best of luck,
AlexAtticus

Hi all! Thank you for the invite. I play mostly Tiney, but have been getting larger and larger as I grow more comfortable with my increasingly hard difficulty levels.

Can Anybody point me to a good suicidal or obsene guide?
