I noticed that this is also an issue in Start8. A co-worker has it installed on her Surface Pro 3 and it does the same thing.

Clicking on blank space closes the start menu in Start Menu Products Stardock Forums

I've found an issue with Start10 where the start menu closes when I left click 3 times on the empty space underneath pinned shortcuts. The issue does not occur if you on the right column or near the user name at the top of the menu. It is strictly contained in the area that I've highlighted in green on the sample picture. To replicate the issue, you can set Configuration to allow space for 20 large icons and click in the area that has "settings" and "microsoft edge

I have this issue as well; open the start menu, right click on the blank area and it says "configure start10" then left click on the blank space again and the start menu closes itself. Also if you are viewing the start menu and left click on any blank area of the menu 3 times, the start menu closes as if you pressed the windows key. It will also auto-close itself the same way if you leave it untouched for a short time which I don't like either.

Ok, so that worked by INCREASING the number for "Allocate room for at least ## large icons" under Style > Configure. The default of 10 was not enough and reducing it to 0 had no change either. Had to increase it to 15 or more raised the height of the start menu.

Something missing from Start10 from my Windows 7 menu is the automatic height adjusting that happens when you have lots of pinned shortcuts. I can't see more than 14 with Modern Style, or 17.5 with Windows 7 Style. The new Windows 10 start menu lets you manually resize the width and height; that would work too if possible. I typically have an average of 24 or more shortcuts pinned to the start menu. If this is a bug, then please fix, otherwise could I make this a
