What they mean by different classes is different size ships of the same race.
AFAIK the game is going to ship with only one ship per race. I think Brad means that eventually the community would allow multiple ships per race to exist. But I don't think they are doing more than the current roster of ships.
I've been told my whole life how serious it all is, how expensive it is, oh... the "risk". My most harsh critizisms are almost always based on that, and the many many games that get made that appear to be made by monkeys. And then the "we'd never consider you, you've only been doing this for 30 years. But this 22-year-old who just graduated from the Devry School of Game Design... He looks great to us. No risk there!

Here's my opinion! Trandal: While I agree that the Trandal ship is underpowered, I have the most fun playing it. It feels like the ship I have most control of. Its gameplay is more fast paced and adaptable. And unlike most other ships, both primary and secondary abilities are used almost equally throughout engagement. Scryve:<
I have yet to see a build of the game? How can I get my hands on one? How will I know when one came out? And in addition, how will I know about voice chats? I plugged into discord but it doesn't really notify me of anything? What will I do if I can't keep my eye on it at all times?
I see that you're a camper. That means you will get access to a build sooner rather th

Curation is required in order to make sure ship designs are not absolute crap. There could be penis ships and incredibly unbalanced ships, or just ships that aren't at all fun to play with or against. But I wouldn't like to see resources going into curating that. So yes, I do believe (and agree with some others here) that the main focus should be on the official roster.

Most of the info is communicated through Discord sporadically when Frogboy makes an appearance. I think it's been established that more keys will be provided soon (not sure how soon, but I would be willing to bet several weeks at most). Anyway, we don't bite on Discord, and you can read impressions from current key holders, in addition to being kept in the loop.
I've skimmed everything currently in the vault, but are there other things founders have access to at this time?
Hey Brian :) Currently there is not much else going on in terms of data. However, there is some discussion going on in the Skype channel occasionally. A small number of Founders also hold keys and discuss game specifics with the devs on a dedicated Discord channel

Yes, that would be the game. I actually replayed it very recently. Still an excellent game. If you decide to give it a go, make sure to keep notes of everything you learn throughout the game. Otherwise you'll lose direction and fail miserably :P

Haha, seriously? I never said anything should be added automatically. In fact I proposed the player should have total control over what information they consider valuable (similar to Orwell). Quest logs detract from the game, but *physically leaving* the game in search of notes you keep elsewhere doesn't? I beg to differ....
It would get far too busy to look at. Unless you complete each 'quest' as you get it and then you may as well be on rails. But Alverez you say, we can just have an option to hide markers. Now I have a quest log full of garbage that I feel obligated to do. I want to explore a universe, not be lead around like a puppy on a walk.
As you can easily see, my text file is already littered with in
@DarkGildon - we're in agreement, except for the exact coordinates being given to the player. Don't you find yourself, when playing a modern RPG, just heading straight for the waypoint, without paying much attention to where I'm going or what's going on while I'm getting there, or even what I'm passing up? I did that in Skyrim, Fallout 4, WoW (current day, it used to be much different), Witcher 3, most recently Mass
Thoughtful post. And I completely agree. I don't want to have to keep a binder, like I used to. It's one of my best gaming memories as a child, but certainly not something I want to repeat at 35. Also, today's kids won't do that, either. It was a different time. There's been a lot of talk of annotated maps. I think they're going with that. Also, built into Star Control is a ve
Brad, really the main thing I'd like to hear your philosophy on, I posted in a different thread, but I'm adding here because it matters to me more than anything else that's still outstanding (since you've already nailed the basic foundations): It's what I'm always referring to - whether it be asking about "mysteries" or "hand-holding" or the "quest system" or "map markers" or whatever - I finally have a g

Hello there. I am a 30 year old guy from Israel. I cannot begin to describe how excited I was to learn about SCO's existence. I recently started replaying SCII and this has made me even more excited. Today I finally became a founder. It is now 5 AM here, which is a shame since I need to wake up in just over a couple of hours, but this is the result of reading up on most of the vault's info. I am just about to finish up my Computer Science degree and am

I was hoping to see a GDC reveal, as that was the original plan according to the tentative schedule. I recently started replaying SCII and I am very excited for this game. However, the lack of updates is somewhat worrying. I can see the term that is used for paying for the game is "pre-order" which means very high confidence in deliverability, but cancelling the unveiling plans makes me sad. Can any of you shed light on progress? I am aware of the NDA.
