The really scary part of this senario is that the way the govt plans to calculate our milage is to put a GPS unit in each of our cars and keep track of our whereabouts. This is frightening!
Even more ridiculous if that's what they're thinking. Really makes you wonder how they think that could be a good idea as opposed to just taxing tires (which share the common factor with gas in that they are worn/consumed based on how much you drive) or something similar. It would be a pointless change that wouldn't do much but add all sorts of new bureaucracy and paperwork (How many miles did you drive this year? Prove it or get audited!). People already pay for how much they drive by how much gas they use; the current system even has the advantage that heavier vehicles (which cause more damage to asphalt road surfaces) generally use more gas so those people pay more per mile to keep the roads up. Linking it to fuel consumption as it is now is
I am curious about the europe and england price though, is it due to higher taxes perhaps? Or just to "simplify" prices?
Kalypso sets the prices for Entrenchment in the regions they cover, not us.
That's the price the devs set for the PC version.
Linux is already a 10 digit $$ market
Maybe so, but redhat and similar companies selling support services to large corporations (that being where all that money comes from) is very different from there being any significant amount of profitable consumer software.
53 jobs are NOT going to put 1.2 million back into the local economy.
Even with your incredibly conservative $50k per figure, that's $2.6m per year in wages. Much of which will end up going to local stores, local apartments, local real estate, etc. This is contrasted with the state basically agreeing to take reduced tax income from those people; ignoring the property taxes, sales taxes, etc., that these new Michigan residents would be paying, the state
In other words, if that was the case the government would have gotten most if not all of the extra employee income/payroll taxes without needing to offer the bait.
Not if he'd opted to build the new studio in another state or move the entire company to a lower-tax locale. The state recognized they had a lot more to gain by giving some incentive to stay put; if they hadn't granted the break, they'd be getting nothing more at all (if not much less). <
Consider for a moment that those 50+ new employees will be paying Michigan state income taxes and bringing the state back well more than the tax break value over the ten year span. The state isn't doing this for charity. Even placing everyone at the bottom end of the software dev payscale, we're talking hundreds of thousands of dollars net gain for the state , just for the term of the tax breaks. Most likely much more, and after the ten years are up, even more still. And if th
Brad first wrote the GalCiv stories back in the early 90's or before, previous even to the OS/2 versions of the game, AFAIK.
You don't get a serial for this until the beta is out, if that's what you're asking.
Considering he posted this in the global PC Gaming forum, it's not clear at all which game he bought. But yes, if it happened to be Elemental then there won't be a serial until Juneish when the beta begins.
Yes, they are only barely worth the money put into them
A major studio with a AAA title finding it's only barely worth it isn't going to be a big motivator for smaller companies to attempt the same. Expecting paper-thin margins at best doesn't get massive new undertakings approved.
There are already a dozen different direct download methods, steam being the most used/popular. The reason it is popular is not because its forced on people
You seem to be forgetting that Valve got its first few million Steam users by buying out CounterStrike and making Steam mandatory for CS players.
I agree with your notion that the buyout of SD is far more likely than Steam but you never know.
Brad has turned down buyout offers in the p
I know that it will be optionnal. Maybe I have misuderstood what the OP says.
Yeah, reading it myself, Brad's statement might be a bit unclear but it certainly seems more to me that he means "up to date on updates" in a knowledge sense, not a patching sense. I'd imagine Impulse would still need to do any actual updating.

Ubisoft retail copies of PM04 did not have serials. As such they can only be updated via standalone patches, which can be found at fileplanet or other third-party sites.
Sorry, but the issue you're experiencing is because your video card does not support Shader Model 2, which the game requires. If you cannot or do not wish to upgrade or play on another machine and purchased direct, you can contact for a refund. If you purchased the game at retail and the store will not take it back, see here for details on getting a refund from us.
We have a 90-95% incumbency rate in this country.
It's getting to the point where I'd say we should just flat-out prohibit reelection to the same office for all federal positions, period.
Since Stardock have the source of sins, why not compile it for 64 bits... don't need to optimize the code, allow us only to go over the ram limit from 32 bits application...
This was noted by Blair or Craig over on the Sins site, but having two different versions of the game would screw up the RNG's predictability and lead to a whole new boat of sync issues.
Nonsense. The biggest strength of the consoles is that they're a single, consistent platform with identical hardware. Switching to PCs might save hardware development costs, but it'd bring with it a boatload of new software development costs as well as support costs (imagine millions of people complaining they can't play Gears of War 14 because they have integrated graphics). I'd say this is just a case of the guy talking up his own platform.
It seems it does conver 1-1 in some items, and in others it does the right conversion.. for instance for supreme commander: forged alliance it does 1-1
Only if the publisher's contract dictates special pricing does it do it, in which case it's out of our control (the only alternative would be to not sell that product at all). Otherwise everything is simply at current exchange.
I do believe that was his point.
Lets not forget that Lead, or Gold, is only a few atomic points below Uranium.
Feel free to try "upgrading" those into fissile Uranium and let me know how that goes. I'll stick with my AR-15 :p
I downloaded it and made an avatar when they put it out a couple of weeks ago, but haven't really had the time to play xBox lately or to look into the rest of the new UI much.
I am assuming that it is just like the game asteroids, or am I mistaken?
Sort of, though here you're fixed at the bottom of the screen (can move left and right) and the asteroids just come down at you from above.
