the game slows to a crawl when i get in a combat sequence (about 1 frame per 2 min).

program bug in Galactic Civilizations I Stardock Forums

when i come to a ship combat scene the computer slows down to about 1 frame every 2 min (extremely slow). I tried to download the last driver for my video and sound card and the patch 1.03 but that did not help. Anyone had that problem to and how did you fix it ?
