I understand the concept... I only wish that when a ship wakes up some popup opens, or it could be that the ship flashes or changes colour.

Will do immediately. Thx in advance.
Yes, there was something similar in GC I. They would start getting outrageous bonuses... do rip 'em or ally with them!
I have not been able to submit a game yet. I have completed 2 games in the final version (I was in the beta but never sumbitted anything there). The error I got in my last sumbission is "(16) The result of this game cannto be submitted to the metaverse". I triple checked my account and password and te issue should be elsewhere, as the Meta is recognizing my name and access. Please help me... I won at "normal" a
I am currently very well positioned in my 1st game with 4 opponents at Normal. I think I could even be in a much better shape if I didn't "try" some things that I would never again, like NOT specializing my planets, building a couple ships just to see how they look like, etc. I started with Normal because I was so impressed by of the comments on how tough the AI would be. Anyhow, I still need to finish the game. I am
As a first thing, thanks a lot. to Stardock but also to all the GC fans!! I haven't been around for a while, so most of my thoughts were already pointed out. Here are my suggestions (or you can consider them my votes): - Individual ship data are currently not visible in the fleets.Should be fixed. - Auto-launch for ships should be available. - It should be possible to select the tile where thr ships pop out. - Autopilot should give an estimation of the
Same issue with Decay.ca. Strange enough, I was playing the Beta with no probs at all . IBM Thinkpad T41, 1GB, Operating System : Windows XP Service Pack 1 - (2600.xpsp2.050301-1526) Video Card : ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9000 Sound Card : SoundMAX Digital Audio DirectX version : 4.09.00.0904
I tried other 3 times, switching servers too, same situation. Bad luck, I'll go home without downloading (its 9.30 pm here and I hoped to use the office connection to speed up things...). Will change my plans for the night. (my wife will be happy btw) Ok. let's give the latest try... IT WORKED!!!! (and I already phoned home to save a dish of spaghetti for me...) Now its play time!
I'm stuck at 87% of the downloading... (5.56 out of 6.37 MB). Oh no... here it failed: -- [Application] ---------------------------------------------------- Name: Stardock Central Path: C:\Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral Version: 2.29a.374, build: 117 -- [System Information] --------------------------------------------- Platform: Microsoft Windows Windows XP, 5.1.2600 Service Pack 1 Display: S3 Graphics Inc. Brad claimed several times that the random events will occur less often in the final release. I was personally frustrated with a Galactic Recession several times in the same game. It's just a matter of waiting until tomorrow now!
yes, Starbases do appear (if you want to) in the combat viewer. You have to check (or uncheck, I dont remember) in the preferences a box asking whether you want battles to be displayed with fleet alone or not.
Milan, Italy.
I am boring - I just use class names such as Fighter 008-008 for a hull 16 ship with 8 missile and 8 defenses. After a while I rename just a few ships (or Pilots) mailnly with tennis players names. Oughta switch to other sports soon... boxe. ski, track&field, ecc.
Great to know that in the final version we'll have some more money to spend. Strange anyhow such a big variance in the occurrences. Did anyone set his race to be "lucky"? Is randomness of events affected by this attribute?
I'm playing the beta and in the current game I am currently experiencing my third Recession period (in the same game I mean). Although it really requires you to change quite substantially the strategy you're using, adding therefore deep and complexity, it is anyhow annoying. Are you gamma people having the same experience or is it just me?
Hmm... I'm playing between Normal and Intelligent now (Beta), 6 opponents, medium galaxy Guess I'd better scale down a couple of gears. 4 opponents, easy.
Everything worked out fine! Renamed the previous Galciv folder to keep the beta and used the "standard" method: OS: WinXP Professional (English) Server: California Purchase Method: Beta Tester via Total Gaming Network Connection Type: company T1 (please don't tell) SDCV
Downloaded everything... looks ok... great!
Thx a lot - will try asap.
I read in several posts that we can keep playing the beta while downloading the first pieces of the final GCII. So do I simply install into a new folder (assuming I check the "Prompt to enter an Installation directory" in the settings)? Did anyone already succeed?
Hmm... I am still in SDCentral 2.24a[b].182, build 113, but I do see GC II in the list of downloadable software. Will try and update SDCentral to 2.29 anyhow.
Additional hitpoints are good - although adding 1 per each victory is too much IMHO.
I am playing as an Iconian, but in my first game I was a Human.
I did start with OS/2. My nickname in this forum is actually a tribute to Stardock. Entrapreneur, Avarice, Links, the GC OS/2 expansions... I had them all. The whole company had such a fresh approach that it was impossible not to fall in love with them. :CONGRAT It may be naive, but It always looked like Brad was a friend of ours... (time passes) I just browsed in my archive folders and I found a copy of the order of Avarice / Links bundle (90 $
