Gal Civ 1 - buffer overrun error in Bug Reports GalCiv2 Forums

Hi sorry for posting this on the gal civ 2 forum but the one for the original game doesn't appear to be working anymore. when i play the game it keeps getting to a certain point and crashing with a buffer overrun error. i've looked everywhere for a solution but it doesn't look like anyone can help. im not running any mods, and have the updated version as i bought it from steam. please if anyone knows how to fix this id be grateful as im gutted i cant play th

HELP!! I've been trying to find a solution to this all night but so far ive not been successful. i bought gal civ 1 ultimate edition from steam, have been playinhg and really enjoying the game. but all of a sudden everytime i play, my game crashes and reports a buffer overrun error. im not using any mods, and as it was bought on steam i would imagine it's the most up to date version. im using windows vista basic. any help would be great, t
