I can't remember though, did PJ move to America? I remember he spoke of… that he was leaving the UK fairly soon years ago but couldn't remember where it was he was moving to…
Well, I did go to the US for 3 months (to get married to my wonderful wife Alicia, meet all the in-laws and visit the Stardock offices), then after a year and a half (and the birth of my son Luke in 2012) I moved to Myanmar/Burma which is whe

Typical, late to the party again! Where's all the nibbles? I bet Hippy scoffed the lot. Incidentally I thought you were launched into space when I kicked you off #stardock one of those times many moons ago. This is a real blast from the past though, those days were a lot of fun. Somehow there seem to be less hours in the day now :( /kick Hippy

on behalf of Stardock Corporation, its shareholders, and Stardock's affiliated websites and partner websites (which are more than most people are probably aware of), Which shareholders are these then?

Is getting hit in the face with a bat a form of artistic expresson though? Or just a random act of violence which rearranges facial features? Art is very much in the eye of the beholder in my opinion.

You would need to switch off the option to automatically connect to the internet when there is no connection already present in the control panel. I don't know of any other way to resolve this problem as windows is auto detecting an attempt to connect too the internet and then trying to connect you.

To make an object invisible at startup just right click it and open it's properties from in builder mode. Then change the visible at startup property on the relation tab. (Think it's relation tab, second one along).

The plugin should be autoinstalling to their sdplugins folder so I don't think that'll help. It's probably worth checking with them that it does exist though just in case. Also getting version of dx from those who can and can't see it might show the issue.

Personally I have to agree that the extra stuff to skin in WB IS a burden to me. I was never a prolific WB skinner (4 full WB and a port) and have turned my attention largely to DX now though even that is losing it's lustre somewhat and I am thinking to just go into helping people realise their dreams for DX rather than trying to realise my own. For me the fun in WB skinning was always about pushing the boundaries, and making something unconv

A common cause of crashes in DesktopX is that the Windows scripting host has been damaged. You can download this from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=c717d943-7e4b-4622-86eb-95a22b832caa&DisplayLang=en Many crashes in dx and it's widgets happen because the script plugin can't connect to the host. This seems to happen most often with PC's that have antivirus that hooks into checking for malici

Google scanning my emails is no different to my servers spam checking software scanning my emails. An automated process is searching the emails for specific keywords. In googles case it targets adverts to them. In the spam checkers case it uses a system to determine if it's spam.

OSX works fine with my MS Explorer and that includes the left/right scroll and all 5 buttons. Explain to me how someone can use MS software on a Mac? I thought that was near imposible? As I read it they're talking about the MS Explorer mouse (intellimouse maybe). Regardless MS do make some M

DVG: That looks like it's crashing in the script host. You may need to reinstall MS scripting host in order to correct that. It looks like something may have corrupted it. Get it at : http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/downloads/list/webdev.asp

You don't have anything enabled that might just be sending loads of broadcast packets onto the network that really aren't going anywhere do you? Try downloading a packet sniffer like ethereal http://www.ethereal.com and see what type of traffic it is and where it's going. Might help you track down and eliminate the cause.

MJM: I tried your widget but it won't run at all for me. Just complains it's being imported (and it isn't) and then puts an error icon in the systray. DXWidget then crashes some seconds later. However I did get to see the code and it's quite an interesting idea and gives me an idea of another way to do a similar thing.

f0r3: The images are also readily available to anyone who uses it but there would be a great outcry if they were used in other peoples themes/objects without permission. The goal of this was more to make sure scripters get the same recognition as the artists from those re-using scripts who may not even realise that it's the same premise. Obfuscating the script code would make no difference. People haven't even modified the scripts or object

I would like some clarification about fair use of dxscripts. I have recently noticed several objects which have the code from other authors objects/widgets in them. There is no credit given to the original author in many of these cases. Is this considered OK? Should it be classed as ripping? Can I (as the author of the scripts and should I choose to) request the removal of any of them using my code without permission? I personally have no

Not to take anything away from the artist but 3dmax can export to AI format. Never tried it myself as I don't have AI to see what they'd be like. Looking at the complexity of the images I would say they have to have been produced in some sort of 3d application.
