Sorry everyone trying to help. No antivirus period. I appreciate the link also! when I apply any skin other than Aero or Cideral, explorer crashes and as stated, Wb claims desktop windows manager has stopped, but it is running in services. The registry entries change according to the skin applied. Not sure what should be there, there are several, blur, glass, opaqueblend, color balance, few others. Stumped. Thanks all and off to support I guess.DT1

Thanks Tom, I did try that approach, many times! Same result. When I apply any of my skins or any skin other than CIDERAL, or Aero's, explorer crashes and desktop windows manager stops working according to WB, but shows running in services. When I reapply, several times to get to take, the skins that work, everything is okay. I can not use DIAMOND to make a skin as it won't apply. Crashes! Any other thoughts?

Back to troubles! I made a start menu, first one in years, and I can not see it! I can not get even Diamond skin to work in wb10. Aero glass and cideral work, but when I try other skins, it goes to classic looking mode and the ABOUT in wb10 says, not installed correctly. When I re-apply Aero it works then reads , installed correctly, but desktop manager not enabled and I lose the SCRN.dll in the ABOUT wb10. Then, if I close wb10, re-open, it reads, installed correctly. I am struggling

The text changes described by Destrohelix should have worked. I would set all start menu text settings to os default, and start from square one with the color of the text, this way you see what happens with each change. I say this because each change can affect other text areas on the start menu. The relationship between having or not having a Item mouseover and having one, versus os default settings or selected text colors by the user, all can affect other text settings. I tried to dup

If i happens without wb loaded, cant be wb. If it happens with wb loaded, I wonder, have you checked settings in wb. Check to be sure you have not chosen a solid color[black] to be used. Under Explorer backgrounds- colors.

I think his post is uncalled for, very unfortunate and sad. Neone has given so much here, learned and earned his way to master , and has a right as an artist to test the waters with his sales. Hurts no one. Just don't buy if you think it is overpriced. I guess some are upset at the prospect of him actually getting it, because of his workmanship and talents. I was looking at the second image you posted and seems odd the folder Bar area and the explorer Back are appearing as one image instead of two. Do you have the right side pane or panel open? If not, when open, how does it appear? If that side is bad to, it has to be something in your windows os, not wb, because sks does not skin those areas. Okay, nothing else. DT1

That sucks. By any chance have you updated any drivers or installed anything new before this happened? Or , and you probably have thought of it, have you did a restore to an earlier time? Or, by accident, set a high contrast Windows theme? I have done that and recall having a time fixing. I had a similar issue, slightly different result. Mine was just very washed out in the Explorer Backgrounds, and I just kept reapplying and removing saved themes through windows, got it

Is it just one skin? If exclusive, try changing the explorer background through sks? If tried already. try using a Windows skin, but make sure you open the task manager and stop wb services. Then make sure also you have no saved themes through Windows, then apply a Windows skin, then restart WB. If all your skins are doing it, I would reinstall WB. Unless you altered the code editor and this would only affect one skin! Just by some weird circumstance, I
