I am curious to see a Skyrim-level engine's render of the parts of Tamriel we haven't seen since Morrowind, but my curiousity isn't strong enough to pay an MMO subscription. I'll probably sate myself watching TESO fans' "Let's Plays" on Youtube.
Well don't worry then, TESO's engine doesn't approach the quality of Skyrim's. That's another issue I have with MMO's: they typ

NO! Haha. I played the beta and it was a silly MMO just like all the others: hundreds of avatars hopping around like rabbits and appearing and disappearing over and over again. All the enemies you fight are outlined red and other objects highlight in green. The combat feels really cheap too. It's sad after seeing all the great work going into previous Elder Scrolls games to make them more immersive and realistic, to take such a step backwards. And to add insult to injury you have to
Quoting Rudy_102, reply 24 I hope you'll find proper consultant when in comes to military-related topics, because we already have enough games where art was put above logic. Personally for me there are times when I think aesthetic tastes transcend reality-based concerns in games (i.e. sound/explosions in space).
I second that. I'm a pulp fan all the way. We are playing a game after all. ;)</
quoting post Right now, Stardock has 6 games in prototype of which only 2 have been vaguely mentioned We’re over a year away from release. Don't get me wrong, I love the series and want you guys to take as much time as needed to make the best game possible, but damn, still over a year away, seriously? I thought this would be a mid-2014 release. I know
So I was re-familiarizing myself with the universe by firing up a game of GalCiv2 and an awesome thought struck me: How cool would it be to have the option of using waypoints for your scouts? Auto-scouting was never terribly efficient in GalCiv2 and it's too time consuming to continuously check up on your scouts to make sure they're travelling where you want them too. It seems like a simple matter to add a shift-click scouting option like any scout in an RTS game. Can we have this imp
I am stoked to help in the development of this game! Bring on the bugs!
A very meaty backstory for the Terrans this time around! Very BSG. [e digicons]:cylon:[/e] I do hope that their tech tree and play style won't be too hostile in sandbox mode, however.
I remember in Master Of Orion 3 there was a race that can colonize gas giants or similar worlds. How about a new similar race in an expansion maybe. They can live and survive in gas giants. Oxygen worlds are hazardous to them. A unique way to play this race. Their worlds are usually huge but few.
I like this idea and would add some more details: This new race could be beings of energy without corporeal form, kin
Sounds like a regular John D. Rockefeller! I like it. :)
+1 to IronBat1's idea! I was thinking along the same lines: have 0 planets and gas giants yield some prize for sending a survey module equipped ship or flagship to research. It could take several turns to complete the research, meaning that your flagship is missing out on other anomalies, but the potential reward from moons, gas giants, etc. could produce something greater. Sins of a Solar Empire had a neat mechanic where you could search your newly acquired planets for goodies. S
The GalCiv games do have a pretty steep learning curve if you've never played a 4X game before. However, the nice thing about them is you can take your time. I don't play Sins much because I don't like the pressure, LOL. I like a good TBS game where you can sit back, relax and take your time with your decisions. You can even drink beer while playing! Try playing Starcraft after a couple beers and see how far that gets you. ;) I highly recommend you get the GalCiv 2 U
Korx, for the money! I love how they're the Ferengi of the GalCiv universe. Money is power. :)
It would be amazing if your leader began the game as a young upstart and then aged as the time went by. It would even be cool to see the leaders die and pass on the empire to their children or something, similar to dynasties in the Total War games.
I love it! It is like a Minbari transformation, only in reverse. Much more interesting than a bland human with a Mike Tyson tattoo. :)
I, for one, am glad that the battles will not be full on tactical. If that's your thing, I would recommend Sins of a Solar Empire for that. I am very much attracted to the empire building nature of the GalCiv series and do not have the time or patience to micro-manage every battle, which I would feel inclined to do instead of trusting the AI to handle them. p.s. I think it in poor taste to *sigh* over another common topic thread, especially when the OP said they wer
I was reading a thread regarding the change to hexes but it didn't seem to touch on what hexes will mean for gameplay. Some questions I have come up with are: Will orientation have defensive or offensive bonuses? Will we still be able to choose in which direction our ships leave the space hangar? Will changing orientation cause movement points? I would like to hear Stardock weigh in on the change to hexes and what it means for the game.</
I also agree that the humor was one of the aspects of GalCiv2 that hooked me. The game had a very charming tone without being too silly. I could never get into Sword of the Stars because they had weird aliens like dolphins and such that just seemed too ridiculous. I think one of the minor races in GalCiv2 were squirrels though, which was pushing it for me. The Elemental games really suffered from being too serious though IMHO.
Ooooh, I really like the idea of having Flagships confer a bonus to a fleet. +1 for sure!
First and foremost: THANK YOU FOR MAKING GAL CIV 3! But to the point: I would love to see each race's flagship have a purpose in the game. I proposed this before on the GalCiv2 website, but I feel it bears repeating. Flagships in GalCiv2 really served no purpose (as far as I could tell) other than as glorified scouts. I like the idea of giving flagships missions to carry out. For example: --Escort missions that would increase diplomacy --Trade
I am thoroughly impressed by how this game has improved by leaps and bounds after trying FE Beta for the first time this weak! I never had fun with WoM, even in its final state, but FE definitely has a promising future. There's still room for improvement, but it is a beta after all. I appreciate getting FE for free and having access to the beta as well. I think that by the time FE is finished (and dare I dream about further perfection with a 2nd expansion someday?) it will beg me for as m
