I already really miss having a nicely bound, hard copy manual, even though GalCiv3 hasn't fully launched yet. I think it would be awesome for the opportunity to buy a print on demand manual for Galciv3. I learned a lot about how GalCiv2 worked from carrying the manual around everywhere I went and drooling over it. I would like the option someday to buy my own GalCiv3 manual. What do you think?

What kind of cosmetic customization can we expect from creating our own alien races as opponents? Will we be able to upload our own images?
The Vault is Dead! Long live The Vault!
Finally! Now things get really interesting! BTW, can we add our own images for user created races? That would be amazing!
I was shocked by how great the ships looked in beta! I've been firing up GalCiv3 with each update and haven't been too thrilled yet with what has been on offer, but the switch from Alpha to Beta has brought a lot of excellent changes and additions. It only strengthens my faith in Stardock to make GalCiv3 into an amazing game by launch day, which is still a looooooong ways off. If I only wanted to play an amazing and complete version of the game I would wait until launch. Heck, I might
+1 for moons. I want every element in my GalCiv games to have some purpose. No eye candy! :D
Fine by me. I'm taking a decidedly relaxed interest in GalCiv3. I got so amped up for Elemental that there was no way it could've met my anticipation. Take your time. :)
The Biggest Wiggle is what you get when Cthulu has a threesome with an asteroid and a starbase.
Sounds like a fun year! Thanks!

I have never been able to get into any of the Elemental games. Each time a new iteration comes out I fire it up, play for about an hour or so and then shut it off for good. It just won't hook me, even though I really want it too. There are several reasons: The fantasy universe does not engage me. I just think the races, characters and creatures are all really weird (not in a good Cthulu type of way) and bland. I would almost rather the world building to have been classic hi
I am very intrigued at the concept of having a button transform the game into an entirely different experience like a sim-builder type of game, however I do agree that playing the game on the easiest levels accomplishes pretty much the same thing.
I'm sorry if I missed the answer in another post, but I am thoroughly confused to how population relates to food/farming and planet size. It was relatively simple in GalCiv2--farms gave you more room for pop, which effectively increased the planet size number (if memory serves). But in the Alpha I can't tell if there is even a pop cap at all and there is a lot of farming tech to unlock. I swear I read an explanation by Frogboy about how it works but now I can't find it. Anyone abl
I agree the wheel needs work. Right now it is more Microsoft when it needs to be Apple, if you follow. As far as being difficult to hit whole numbers, why not just add in a snap to nearest whole number function or something? Seems like that would work for most, and for those who like to tinker and tweak to the perfect percentile they could just turn it off.
+1 for space pirates +1 for space creatures I also think it would be a really cool random event to have a fleet of Dread Lord ships unearthed by accident when colonizing a planet or something. They could wreak havoc on the whole galaxy and just be a headache for everyone. [e digicons]}:)[/e]
Wow! This topic is generating a lot of heat! I just want to mention I like EvilMaxWar's idea re: starbase shipbuilding. I really like the way starships were built in Sins. I would like to see that tried in Alpha at least. EDIT: Just checked out the latest from the founder's vault and I am happy. :)
I'm not ready yet! This is too much pressure. [e digicons]:P[/e] Hmmmm . . .
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.
Ha! That's awesome. There should be a different phrase for every race.
Why can't it build two farms at the same time on the same planet? Do we only have a single construction unit in the whole planet??? Not realistic!
Dude, why the attack? I wasn't beating the drum of realism and demanding that a futuristic space game featuring sentient robots and strange aliens be identical in nature to the world we live in. All I said is that from a realism perspective, it seems silly that a
When you try to quit GalCiv2 you are asked: "Are sure you want to quit?" followed by: "A few more turns couldn't hurt." I loved that tiny bit of humor and enticement to continue letting your PC suck your life away. Please add that back to GalCiv3 (or something similar) instead of the simple "are you sure?" question.
I agree that notifications are missed, however, I find it much cleaner to use the turn button for these. I like how the turn button changes to idle ship or idle planet. If new ships were flagged as idle the first turn after they were built that would work. Then you could select "defend colony" or something to keep it from popping up idle again. I also agree that "eject" is a poor choice of word. Simply using "launch" would suffice and sound better.
I don't like single queue. :( It doesn't really make sense from a realism perspective. Why can't spaceships be built concurrently with planetary improvements? If it were up to me I would allow multiple starports to be built just like any other improvement. Then you could have 3 or 4 ships building simultaneously.
I love all of the additions so far! I can't wait to try them out. :)
Love the concept of special planet bonuses! Sphere sounds more sci-fi than wheel: Production Sphere maybe? I also like the other ideas about creating a cool acronym for it; that also seems really sci-fi.
