Plasma clouds and mines in Sins of a Solar Empire Sins Forums

I came accross a plasma cloud on a single player map and there were crystal and metal mines there. If I cannot colonize this gravity well, and I don't get construction ships, how do I make mines here. And since there were already ones present, do I have to totally destroy them?

Being new, I turned pirates off. They were a bit tough for me since I really dont fully know the game. Is there any benefit to having pirates? I can see the benefit of leveling my ships up, but when they die most of the time, it's a bit counter productive. I also have 4 or 5 trade ships just sitting in space. How do I get them moving? I imagine I have to assign them a trade route? But do I attain one with my other planets or with othe

I dont think so. One is an image of me and is unclickable atm. They other is a military insignia...like a chevron. This one is clickable.

Icons under buy metal and crystal? I hover over them and can't see what exactly they do? The manual doesnt have an entry that points to them, so I'm a little baffled.

Just starting out in game and built 2 military and 2 civilian research stations. I need 3 civ in order to gain the ability to jump to another planet? I know my scout ships can jump and my capital ship can jump, but I cant get my construction frigates to jump to another planet, and I imagine that I need them to in order to build up stuff at the new system? My problem is that I cannot build 1 more reseach station because it says "upgrade planet first". H

I hate to post easy questions on the forums, but there are not any search results for this one. I am in the last tutorial and placeing a trade depot. I get the red ring around my desert planet when trying to place it, and no matter where I go, the red ring stays and says "another structure is blocking..."
