I did create a registry copy, maybe I can restore to that if all that's deleted are the registry entries. Except neither the program nor the help tell you how to use the backed up copy or where it resides. :( :( :( Ok, I found it in the Documents folder and it's a standard .reg file. Applied it but my restore points are still missing. Another person has posted ast Major Geeks that it's deleting his restore points.

I looked under Windows System restore to find there was only one last restore point. My intention was to perform the restore to last week after the registry clean failed to fix my problem. You're correct, CCleaner shows none at all. I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit so that may be why we have different results.

WARNING! From reading the forums I know this program is popular for cleaning the registry and temp files. I ran it today to clean the registry (and did not use the tools option to delete system restore points) but when it was finished, all but my lastest restore point were missing. The problem has also been reported by someone on Major Geeks. Can't find the contact link on the actual CCleaner page.

I'm running the XFX Radeon HD5570 card with 1gb, which rates a 5.9 on the Vista Experience index (5.7 for gaming). I don't know if that's enough horsepower for you. I paid $110 a few months ago, but there are alternate brands with the same graphics engine for well under $100. XFX gives you free lifetime support.

Norton sometimes deletes wincustomize objects. Been a while since its SONAR vtool did that however. I couldn't find script setting so I will try the reinstall tomorrow. Oh good idea, I'll try the OD+ weather docklet now. It's working. I'll use that until I get around to reinstalling tomorrow. Thanks for the help! I'll update this thread probably tomorrow.

I installed 3.5 this time around but without doing any registry cleaning. I've had bad problems with some removing important settings, although CCleaner has worked for me. Is the zip code stored in the registry or an ini or xml file? Maybe I can just edit it manually, I've been workjing the last 2 days (on a weekend too :( ) pretty much non-stop on the PC, doing work coding so I think I'll save any more experimentation for tomorrow. I cleared the DesktopX cache and now the widget is acting like the gadget. lways shows Greenville and won't let me change it even though it correctly shows my zipcode when I try. I think it's time ti reinstall DesktopX. Uninstalling and reinstalling didn't help. Sometime last week the drive meter g&w's and weather g&w's stopped working for me. In all cases, the drive meters don't show any drives, just an empty space where the drive meters should be. I have the tab problem but not the scrollbar issue and I'm running Vista Ultimate 64 bit. I just tried IE9 64 bit and that is not showing the tab corruption even though the 32 bit version is with the current blind. Maybe that's useful information.

Same problem here with Vista Ultimate 64 bit. The only fix is a reboot which clears up the problem for a little while but it returns even if I don't switch blinds.

yes there is a skins menu items so it may have been activated at download. What threw me is the Add features screen has an enabled "Activate existing purchases" button. I assumed that would go away once I had activated it but obviously now. I know at the previous beta release I did have to go through the activation process once but the setup screen was visibly different after that.

$50 a month isn't bad if you can lease it month to month when you need it but $600 a year in place of a perpetual license that costs $600-1200 is quite steep. At this point I only use PSE and upgrade every 3 versions. Since they only offer a 20% discount from any version it would be cheaper to buy the full version at full price when I want to upgrade. This is not good for the regular Schlub!

Are you using a windowblind? One blind made access to the "search everywhere" option unavailable. Maybe the one you're using is interfering in a different way. Oops, I thought you meant the Start Menu search box.

I still have Impulse installed so I tried to use it to update Deskscapes but it says my Object Desktop subscription has expired. Well it did but I renewed it a month ago. Now what do I do to install the Deskscapes update? **SOLVED** Impulse allowed me to uninstall the old version and then I was able to install the update.
