I've driven my hybrid now for two years, and have no need to "throw out the batteries". They are supposed to last aprox. 7 years and then are TRADED IN and replaced for about 1000 bucks, the old ones are sent back in for reconditioning and resold. I drive about 20 miles to work and the last time i bought gas was two weeks ago....will need some more next week.
