If the Steam and GOG versions must have separate multiplayer communities, I would like to know what kind of key I will get if I buy directly from the Ashes site? It sort of looks like I would get a Steam key, but could someone give definite confirmation?

Yep, I've seen this one in action as well. Please fix it.
I was in the same game lobby and it crashed at the same time for me. Here is my crash log: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at address 0x100d217f attempted to read memory at 0x000a003e Program : C:\Games\Demigod\bin\Demigod.exe Cmd line arguments : Callstack: UPNPNAT::add_port_mapping + 178687 bytes ((Unknown)(0) + 0 bytes) Reactor version: 1.00.56 Demigod version MA
I crashed in the lobby while hosting a game tonight. I managed to get the trace, so I thought I'd post it in case it does some good: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at address 0x100cdee5 attempted to read memory at 0x6e6f4374 Program : C:\Games\Demigod\bin\Demigod.exe Cmd line arguments : Callstack: UPNPNAT::add_port_mapping + 177653 bytes ((Unknown)(0) + 0 bytes) Last 1
Yep, I've been stuck at 630 favor for weeks. I really wish they would fix it, it's demotivating me to play because I figure I'm not getting anything out of it.
I really like the way that an AI takes over for people when they quit/concede whatnot. The nice thing is that this prevents the rage quitters from entirely ruining the experience for the rest of the team. If you entirely remove their DG from the game when the quit/concede, then the match is as good as over. This of course makes a better AI a high priority. I'm not sure what you mean by favor points increased by a factor of 10. They seem about right to me now in
I have to disagree with the statement that 3v3 is the max typical SupCom game. I have played hundreds of custom games of SupCom, and at least half of those have been 4v4. In the first couple months of SupCom's life, there were problems with desyncs, etc. In the last year, it has worked pretty well. So it is achievable, even with several thousand units in play, which is typical SupCom.
As far as ideas for limiting the demo, here's a couple I'm sure you have thought of: 1. Pick two demigods and only allow them to play those two. I say two, just because that will let them get a feel for how different it can be to play each one. 2. Time limited to 3 days from initial download. Make this plain before they start the download so that they can plan accordingly.
Last night a friend was having trouble connecting to our games. He had forwarded/opened ports 6112 to 6132 and used ImpulseReactorOptions.exe to set that to the valid port range. The note in the tool says that that should be a valid range. The FAQ here (http://www.demigodthegame.com/faq/) says to open 6100 to 6200. He was still having trouble, so he opened ports 6070 through 6200, and suddenly things started working. I wonder how many people have read those two

UDP message delivery is not guaranteed, but it isn't flakey enough to generate the number of problems that I saw last night during my 1.5 hours of trying to get a full set of connections in 4 to 10 player games. You have said that the NAT Facilitator is sending packets, but Impulse Reactor is not receving them. Have you verified that they are being sent to the correct IP? Also, do you know that the port mappings that it is sending out are always correct under load? I
Thank you for the update. By all means, please continue with these updates. The fact that you make them is what has kept me from becoming totally synical about the game and walking back to the store to return it. It means that you are keeping in contact with us, that you care what we think and that you are human. I don't mean that as a threat, it's just the simple truth. I understand that your networking experience internally may be working well, but my experie
People that play as a team with their friends and get high on the ladder are one thing. A guy that can get placed with a random group of people and consistently win is far more skilled. Some people will play the single player random team ladder for the challenge, and they will succeed in spite of their team mates. Custom games do not offer this option because if you join solo you pretty much have to assume that at least a couple of the players in the game are on Vent or wh
Another vote for replays. Being a Supreme Commander fan, I really like that feature, and the GPG Vault for storing replays, maps, mods, etc, was also awesome. Supreme Commander was the first time that games became a spectator sport for me, both in the form of replays and commented games. These included games of my own and friend's that had been saved, as well as those found on the GPG Vault. QuadV also did a lot with those (www.quadv.com), and I found those casts to be
I like the idea of being able to go in as a time, but the only fair way to handle it is to have two separate ladders. One where people join solo and get put together with a random team, and another where people can join as a team going in. If you mix the two, the guy without a team always gets screwed and he has zero motivation to play that way at all.
It's nice to hear that LAN play from one copy is officially supported. Something that would facilitate that greatly would be having the patches downloadable as a standalone .exe, rather than having to use Impulse to do it. Are these available somewhere? If not, I can understand since that would make the pirate's life even easier, which is something that we don't want to do.
Here's a crash I got while sitting in the lobby of a game: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at address 0x100b62e8 attempted to read memory at 0x00330037 Program : C:\Games\Demigod\bin\Demigod.exe Cmd line arguments : Callstack: TickCounter::QuerySystemTick + 333800 bytes ((Unknown)(0) + 0 bytes) Last 100 lines of log... I see several different failure modes: 1. In the custom game lobby I try to join a game and it says "Attempt To Join Failed". If I am persistent enough and keep hitting the join button, I can often get into these. I usually throw in some Refresh Game's as well, so I'm not sure if that is required. It should go in on the first time. 2. There seems to be a UI bug in the custom game list. Reasonably often, I will hit Join Game with a non-password protected
I wanted to sincerely thank you for taking the time to be fully involved with the community during launch. You have created numerous posts that explain what is happening and it is obvious that you are trying. I've also seen you in Impulse chat at the wee hours of the night answering questions and being responsive to players. This is really outstanding among your peers and I wanted to be sure that you know that it is appreciated. To the rest, this isn't a fanboi post.
I could do that, but windowed mode is known to decrease graphics performance. I've yet to see a game where that is not the case. It's a pretty game, and I'd like to play with all the settings turned up, as I do now and it looks and runs great. I suspect that this Alt-Tabbing problem is just some DirectX setting or callback that is not being handled correctly, and the problem seems to be present in both GPG games that I own. That tells me it's something in their share
Well, given the amount of time that I spend trying to connect or waiting for others to connect to a custom game, alt-tabbing helps me keep my sanity. Even if the networking were flawless, it can take a while to get enough people to join a custom game. I should also mention that I haven't had this problem with any other game.
Overall the game plays well when you finally get into a match, but connecting to matches is much more of a pain than it should be.
A bit of an understatement. So far I've spent about 60% of my time trying to connect and about 40% playing. In my 40% playtime I really like the game. In the 60% waiting and watching the Connection Info, I really hate it. Connection Info shows exactly what is going on btw. If only one person hasn't setup their p
Is Demigod finished? Absolutely. Are we happy with the state Demigod is in? Definitely. Are we happy with the performance of the NAT fascilitator? Clearly not. But the NAT fascilitator isn't part of the game. Its failings certainly impact the multiplayer aspect of the game to be sure. But a person playing Demigod could replace the NAT fascilitator with Hamachi or various other services and still play the game as designed.
Clearly you intended for people to be able to us
I'm running on Vista Ultimate 64 with a Geforce 8600 GTS. Frame rate is great, but if I try to Alt-Tab out, the game crashes and I never get back. If I try, all I get is a big gray screen to look at. The game is still running, but the video is permanently screwed. I have the same problem with Supreme Commander, so I think this one is GPG's fault. I sure wish they'd fix it.
You'd need to make two different Pantheons then. One for teams and one for random join like we have now. If you don't do that you are always stacking the odds against the random people who didn't join as a team. It's not fair or fun. At least when you join a custom game you know that can happen.
