So what do people think? Does having to register to download updates for demigod constitute DRM?
No having to register to download updates does not constitute a DRM, as least not for me... ... BUT having a DRM being installed as soon as you update the game, DRM that will then force you to reactivate the game online if you ever try to move it to another computer, then that IS definetly a DRM, and that's sadly exa

I really doubt that today any serious company would still develop a new application incompatible with Vista/Seven. And for
And no, they are not DRM free. The advertisments of Stardock were: "no DRM on the disc". Which is true. And "no disc-based DRM", which is true also.
Yes you are right, they never said that the games would remain DRM-free forever, but honestly I find that a little borderline, I am sure a lot of peoples made the same mistake than I did, heck some peoples might even call that "lying by omission"; Stardock say very often, in inte

Braid and Puzzle Quest are still DRM-free... luckily. Unlike y
Anyways all stardock games were always like that. only V1 from the CDrom was completely drm free, sometimes they released a major patch as DRM free. the rest required one time activation, but it does not modify your windows, its self contained in the game.
Well, it didn't work that way 2 years ago, when there was only GC2. maybe they have lifted activation since the game (GC2:DL) is 3 year old.
Maybe, the first SD game I ever bought was Sins, just before Impulse, so maybe 2 years ago they were using DRM on their games and switch to DRM-free later.
How can you do that? You just copy and paste the contents of the game directory on another pc, without the impulse client, internet connection or even an install?
Yes, exactly, then just create a shortcut to the game EXE and you are done. But it seems (I just tried) that it doesn't work for Demigod so I don't know if it will continue to work for other games either.

Some little questions (and worries) about the "new" DRM used on Demigod... Before Stardock games didn't had any DRM, and I mean the "digital" versions, you could download and install a game on computer A and then copy the install folder to computer B and play the game without ever needing to ever reactivate it online. It worked for Stardock games but also for others like for example Braid, Puzzle Quest Galactrix, etc... it was IMHO great and as close as possible as b

As has been said, if you're absolutely against it in any way, shape, or form, then you're going to be unhappy for quite a long time. The goal of GOO is to provide publishers with enough of a sense of security that they won't use worse DRM schemes, while NOT doing all of the really bad things that other DRMs have done as above.
Would it be possible to have some more details "how"

I just hope this new DRM is only for games of publisher who really really REALLY want to use DRM and not for everybody... especially not for Stardock games. I hope that Impusle will continue to sell DRM-free games as much as they can.
