Now if the AI only uses the designs that the player actually builds then that helps though it becomes quite lame and boring as it at that point is just playing as China pretty much. What we need is variety in designs, but if coding the AI to intelligently design ships is too much then I guess all this is a s
Well, I already have all the DLC, but it's a good idea. If I were entering, it would be this attempt to do something along the lines of the Dune ships. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=504573875 It probably would not have wide appeal. I was going for opulent and pretentious, with excessive embellishments that imply mas
The only time I ever used military starbases in gal civ 2, was for the 'jump gate system', but for Gal civ 3. I haven't found any use for them. Just a thought... If we make it so that any fleet stationed on the same tile as the military starbase could be set to 'Overwatch', (rather then guard or sentry). This 'Overwatch' would allow that fleet (assuming it had eno
So from a reasonable terraforming system in Gal Civ 2 to a garbage system and now an absolute crap tier system. Aren't games supposed to get better with each iteration? How is this better?
Well Age of Wonders gets better with each iteration. Age of Wonders 3 with all it's DL's is IMOH the best 4x game out there. So yes there are games that still do. The problems with GC
I don't see how you can possibly consider the game broken with this issue. I don't use the battle viewer at all and am still able to play ... funny that.
Well without any sort of TC or battle viewer that works the game becomes a bit boring. What is the point have having a awesome ship editor if you can't see them in action. Personally I would prefer a Tactical Combat options wh

1) I would like to see the 'Deathstar' ships from GC2 put into GC3. Those were great. I think it should be an actual space station with the logistics of a space station so you can put in a large fleet to protect it. But of coarse it's movement should be slow like in GC2. 2) Would love to see some different types of FTL tech put into the game (Warp, Hyperdrive, Stargate, and any others that Sci-fi has created.) A stargate like in the Babylon 5 s
Honestly the pure min maxing that the game currently favors is flustering... and it removes any engagement with the game... I'm not a space Emperor leading a civilization... I am a guy playing a computer game...
Well you may be a mere guy playing a computer game. But I am a Space Emperor leading a civilization.
Now that the release version of 1.3 is out, I decided to forget the game I had going with the opt-in and start a new game. I had the pirates on my usual setting of Common. They were their usual minor nuisance, so I mostly left them alone. After I built up enough ships with good offense and defense, I went on an extermination spree and eliminated all the pirate ships and bases around me. I also noticed that the AI races were also taking out t
Weren't there space monsters in GC2? I hated them because they had millions of hp, and killed my fleets all the time! I wouldn't mind if they didn't show up until later in the game, or scaled up as the factions do.
Loved the space monsters in GC2. And the whole point of fearing them was that they could pop up at any time especially when your not ready. I hope they put them in and do not put
So my fleet of 7 capital ships vs 11 enemy carriers loses completely as none of my ships shoot the carriers, they just fly around and fire 2 missiles at random drones. I reburb the fleet to be 7 interceptors instead, and they still ignore the enemy carriers. So what do I need to kill enemy carriers? And why would capital ships and interceptors fully ignore them?
It seems I am missing a vital part on how this works because I regularly fail to defend my planets, even though I have significantly larger force. For example, in my last game, I lost a planet with 9 units and 10% planetary defence to an invasion force of only 3 units (?) with 20% bonus. How does that work? How can 9 units lose to 3 units with only 10% difference in bonus? And how do I effectively defend my planets if it is that easy to succesfully invad
It doesn't matter what the AI tries to do militarily if it can't keep up with a human economically. The Civ IV AI was famous for its ability to generate massive armies that, even if technologically inferior to the human, could still pose a challenge from sheer MASS. Yes. It did this through massive MASSIVE resource bonuses.

I downloaded the Andorian Faction which said it needed the ships so I downloaded them too however the AI never used them and when playing the Andorians the Andorian ships never come up. Now I can go into the Designer and see all the ship templates including the custom ones. Is there going to be an easier why of doing this in the future?
I seriously love you guys. [e digicons]:)[/e] that hat spreadsheer looks awesome. btw, most of the AI improvements do not require you to start a new game. I made it to the algorithms themselves. There is still a lot that can be done. A lot of it also has to do with making good decisions on when and if to go to war.
But I want an excuse to start a new game.

I play on the largest maps possible (MP Huge, until they open ups all map sizes to it.) Then I usually set every thing to random so I will always be surprise. I also use all the AI's I have (SP - 100, MP due to only being able to use a Huge map I do between 25 to 50 AT.)
