I think then, maybe its best, that we retire the MVL and congratulate each other on a successful and fun run. And who knows, I plan on being around for GCIII and there just may be a revival :-) That being said, there are a few individuals I would like to take the time to especially thank for their time and effort in making the MVL what it was, if it wasn't for them, the MVL would have never lasted two rounds let alone 13 (12 + bonus round) Ghostwes: It was

@Seth: nope, the leader of the Zerg (at least 'now' with the fall of the Overmind at the end of SC1) is Sarah Kerrigan, who gave herself the title "Queen of Blades". Which makes me think you haven't played StarCraft, to which I must say "OMG! Why Not! Go play it!!!" Sure, its 10 years old now, but graphics aren't that bad, and its balance is the stuff of legend.

Oh proud Patriarch of the Kzinti, dare you welcome the Queen of Blades into your midst? Death and Destruction are my Hands, and Sorrow and Despair are my Feet, and I am the Body Immovable. Treacherous I am, but Powerful too. For the hunger of the Swarm knows no bounds, but it is not without intelligence. A common goal is in sight, and Domination is sought by Many, but only Few shall achieve. For now, I offer my Allegience, but be Wary, oh Great Kzin, that you dare not

yup :-) well, I know it is in Dark Avatar and Twilight of the Arnor, I haven't played Dread Lords in a while, so I can;t say for sure. In DA and TA you can create custom opponents in the Select Opponent Screen. And if you don't have DA or TA, I suggest looking into them. (Though you need DA to play TA, for the record)

I have a hypothesis, I just dont know how to phrase it LOL. I'd have to see yer numbers to be sure, but I am gonna hazard it has to do with yer population actually fluctuating around the 20 billion mark- that is, yer high tax rate and high population have a downward motion on population (because under normal circumstances that would lead to very low morale, to a point where you would actually have negative growth) being countered with numerous morale boosters which have an upward motion

@Scoutdog: You, as the player, can gain either "Historic Friendship" if you maintain friendly relations with another race for I believe 5 game years (it could be 3, which I understand is a big difference, but its been a while so...) If you declare war on another race, make peace, and come back and declare war again , eventually, your reputation/credibility will be so damaged that you will have "Historic Animosity" The Torian and Iconians have this toward the Drengin an

this is a copy of what i posted over at the DoD thread at the Core i don't even know if he's bothered to read the Round 12 results as of yet, and considering he didn't even get a game in (which I admonished him for, at least I posted that i needed a backup done) but Dystopic says he's def out. I'm pretty sure Neilo is out also. Kushhaze never reported in, so he's out. Galefury is out for next round at the very least, if not longer. Davabled is out for the ne

actually, this may be the time to discuss, in earnest, the future of the MVL. I know that I am unequivocally out. I don't want to speak for others, but I know there a few that are also planning on ending their time in the MVL.

hey, so I know its really late in the game, but I really don't think that I'll be able to get my game in time for the deadline. If KP or Ragnar have a backup, I strongly encourage that they go ahead and submit. If circumstances change, and I manage, at least we'll be covered still. Again, my sincerest apologies Silver

@KP: Yeah, myself being from Indiana, I was really surprised and happy to see us turn Blue this year. First time since the 1964 Election. It's been my opinion that Indiana has been a winnable state before, but it kept up being a Fly-Over before.

@Soul Sole: Thank you very much, I do indeed appreciate the compliment. I like to think that not all of us "young people" are the miscreants the media/society sometimes likes to make us out to be. And I think you showcase your own wisdom too, so I tip my hat sir. @Neilo: Of course I noticed, I just find it easier to ignore you :-p Don't worry, if Dys has his way it looks like you and I will be having some very fun go-arounds in our game.

Enlightening reads, and my personal congrats to a consistently fair and polite handling of various political views. I applaud each and every one of you. I voted last week (Indiana also has early voting, was in line just over an hour). I wrote this on Sept. 11th, 2008 as clarification to some friends around me that wondered why I have respect for both parties on different issues. I believe in a strong centralized government but I am against Big gove

@Soul Sole: you'll have to forgive Neilo, he's a bit slow and dense sometimes. @Neilo: You're flipping his handle around backwords you fool, its "Soul Sole" not "Sole Soul" And for the record, I liked McCain, that is he until he sold out to the very people he said he would never deal with (the Far Right and Rovian politicking). That's when he lost my vote. Say what you will about the Democrats and Obama, but at least they've been peddling the same st

next time we see each other on, I'll see what i can do to help ya out Neilo @Soul Sole: Well...I think what really matters is the attention...and proper policy. I'm guessing you didn't go into Utah pushing abortion rights? I think any politician of any party can win any part of the country when done right. The Kzinti Empire thread is not the place for me to go on a rant about how since Reagan the politics in the US have been Us vs Them crap which

its still FALL! sorry, I have a love/hate relationship with Winter since I grew up right on the lakeshore in Michigan so, that means LOTS of Lake Effect snowfall. It was depressing, it could be sunny just about everywhere else in the country and meanwhile it be dumping 6" of snow on my doorstep. I like it better here at Purdue- unless the winds are directly out of the North we don't see any lake effect, so its not too bad overall.

there's not much more that I can add to this other than Sole Soul has the calculations down perfect. More income per turn in and of itself does not equate to increased production/research. That being said, have higher income will allow an intelligent player to invest in structures that would increase said production.

@Galahadba: yeah, we've noticed this before; we've been told that its something that at least some of the Devs are aware of and thought they may know whats wrong. There should be another Beta out here soon. Developer CariElf believed it was partly a faulty algorithm that had the AI overestimating the chances of losing a world to influence flipping. If it still seems to be an issue in the next beta, a few of us "veterans" will make sure that they get

hi sqwalnoc! There are a few possible reasons that your game is crashing with the tech tree- you may have created new techs that have no tags/identifiers (ie a completely new imaginary tech); or you maybe forgot to make sure that all the techs are properly connected (ie added Plasma Weapons, but forgot to make them follow Laser V) Your best bet is to start small, take an existing tech tree and slightly modify it and save it under a new name (if yo
