Yikes - I believe we have this fixed up. Please give the latest version available on Impulse a try... there was a glitch on XP systems only with update detection that was causing the icons to resync continuously :(

Hi jerrod, have you check out Fences Pro? it can do just that for you with its configurable rules.
problem with Fences... the latest version on Impulse should fix the problem :) give it a try. (updating the standalone installer as fast as download.com will put it up for us, which unfortunatly is "not fast" ;p)
Hey JSV. I wouldn't recommend uninstalling the free version ; when you next update Pro, it should remove the Free version from appearing as installed. Let me know if it doesn't. You're on XP, 32bit right? Regarding the locked setting, that is interesting. I'll have our guys take a look at that. If you turn locking back on, does the problem resume? If so, does it go back up immediatly, or only after something happens (such as mouseovering a specific fence, or triggering quickhide, etc)
Hey guys! I like the idea its been something we've been toying with for sure. And would definitely make a killer Pro feature :) Question though: operating system. Still have to toy with it to ensure its doable at all, but this kind of thing would unfortunatly only be particularly possible on Vista and Win7 systems. Do you guys make the cut?? :-S
johnwizz - Have you tried going to the add/remove control panel? Did you originally install Fences with Impulse?
Hi IceReaven We unfortunatly haven't been able to reproduce... what operating system are you working with? Which specific game and do you know the original resolution / what resolution it changes to? Do you have a mutli-monitor system? And you say it moves to a different fence... if you say move the fence that it moves to to another spot on the screen, does it still move there? If you put another new fence where that one used to be, does it show up in that one instead? T
Update pushed for the Pro version, give it a run? Should be fixed :) Update to Free coming next week
caper7ca - Yikes. If you could could you please navigate to the folder "%appdata%\stardock\Fences\TroubleshootingLog" and send us the files located there? I can be reached at fencesbeta - at - stardock.com, mention in the subject that we'd chatted on the message boards. Thanks!
So I don't quite have that planned out, but what I do have is... next month I'm hoping to start work on an update to ObjectDock Plus. This update could work with Fences to provide tabbed docks of your Fences for quick access :) A part of me is also considering building this ObjectDock feature in with Fences Pro, but we'll have to see. Like / don't-like?
Hi UNeekid, No unfortunatly on XP a background image must be specified. Hence Fences creates its own from your current background color if you have none. Suggestion noted though, on uninstall i should probably remove that wallpaper. Thanks
Indeed as Neil notes, v1.0 of Fences is now available and no longer expires. Thanks for participating in the beta
Hi dvhh This has been improved in the latest version (1.0) i recommend trying it out!
Hi gsquared. Right, the settings for the Fences themselves are stored in either of those places. Unfortunatly the icons won't come with it - you'll need to load the icons back into the fences manually. However if you either (a) export that registry key and import it into your new computer before installing Fences (or import them and terminate / re-run explorer)... or (b) Copy the snapshot XML/PNGs over, and load one of the snapshots on the new machine, then you'll get your Fence lay
Ivica - Good tip, I looked into it and there was indeed a glitch. Fixed! :) This happens with grid-view turned on on the desktop but not auto-arrange. New release will be out in the coming few weeks, thanks again.
:D Thank you Bob!!!! Haha well technically it was at least available on Windows 98... but only MY copy of Windows 98 ;) And it wasn't called Fences then - thats when I started developing it! Just wasn't polished enough to actually give to anyone else for soooooo long. Yeah, Microsoft really really should have this bundled into the OS. Maybe one day. And hey if they paid us for use of the name/term "Fences" that would be a good thing from our view too ;) ;) Glad to have
Hi bmndj. Included with Fences are a few font files, look for them somewhere around c:\Program Files\Stardock\Fences\Fonts\ Install them to your system. Missing fonts should not be causing a crash like that however - ty for the notification.
Hi! There is... Fences' settings are stored in the registry key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\Fences" Also, snapshots are stored in the folder "%appdata%\Stardock\Fences"
Hi Rilian - if you'd like to isolate Fences, I recommend heading to the config dialog... in "Tools" there's a small link for "More Tools..." near the bottom. In it you can uncheck the checkbox "Enable Fences" to turn it off. Try out your game and it should give you an idea :) One thing Fences DOES do, that you can only test by uninstalling and rebooting, is turn on the "double-buffering" feature of Windows' listview for the desktop if you are on an XP system. Just changes how windows
Hi relativityboy - any chance I can get a screenshot? I have similar and unfortunatly haven't been able to reproduce no matter which way I move my monitors. If you put the secondary on the right, does the program go away? Are you able to see your icons on any monitor at all, or on none? Can you see icons that *aren't* in fences, or just not icons that are in fences? If you can see any and you take a fence and drag it from one monitor to the other, do the icons j
Can confirm, as it stands right now sorting & other forms of automatic organization are in the plans for the Pro version.
Hi dle330, Hm. Are you unable to install Fences because it claims you lack .NET 2.0? Are you using v1.0 / one downloaded since yesturday? If not I recommend checking out v1.0 just released yesturday. Thanks
Hi Trigeminal. Want to send your debug log to "fencesbeta" (at stardock)? Head to the "About" page there there should be a button for "Debug Info" at the bottom. Since you've uninstalled & reinstalled the info might be gone to diagnose what went wrong with the upgrade, but I guess I'll ask, did you install Fences using Impulse? or using the standalone installer? Regarding "Lock Fences" it got moved - check the "View" menu, you'll find it there Thanks
Hi robacz, Just wondering what the settings of your dock are... Do you have it set to autohide? If not, do you have it set to bring itself to the front when the mouse nears the edge? Which edge is the dock on... the same edge as another bar/taskbar, or some other otherwise-uninhabited edge? Do you have a multimonitor system? And if so the dock isn't on an edge that boarders another monitor is it? Regardings effects/color, what color is your dock set to? "Glass", "Defau
Hi Dovreen, Wondering how this worked out for you?
