I do exactly the same Mystikmind, I guess great minds think alike... Or fools never differ Actually, I'd never noticed that these enhancements were just bumps for the Doom Ray, but then again, it's not that often I use Beam weapons.

I'm playing a game where I'm currently ranked first, then all the minor races take 2nd-6th or 7th, then all the other major races are below them. This probably has something to do with their military score as the other majors are still expanding, whilst the minors have just built a few military ships instead of colony ships.

Personally, the invasions don't bother me much. I usually skip the scene anyway just to see if I've taken the planet or not, so any extra eye candy or tactical ground combat would just be wasted on me. I don't think there's much need for this.

((Wow, I haven't posted here in a long time)) Some brilliant ideas there Allimar. It would be great to see some sort of alien diversity amongst your civilisation and the bonuses associated with that. I've no idea how hard that idea would be to implement into the game, but I have a slight alternative instead of having individual bonuses associated with having certain races in your population, if that would be too difficult to put into the game. How about you get to choose who

Usually I go for beam weapons, but I've recently been using Mass Drivers in one of my games. Although Mass Drivers may feel pretty weak early on in game, by the time you reach the Black Hole Gun, you'll be putting your enemies in a world of hurt. I've just managed to flip a war with the Altarians using Black Hole Guns, after designing a huge hulled ship decked out 100+ points worth of Mass Drivers, capable of moving 17 spaces in one turn, and with a high missile defence (they are usi

Yeah, just how many people do you expect to fit on one planet? If you had one hundred trillion, they would probably have to stand on each other's shoulders all day like some insane clown balancing act.

I use the option and I've seen some nice little touches to the AI which has improved the game somewhat. Now the AI seems to be able to customise it's ships better to counter your own, whereas before they never seemed to bother, or did so poorly.

The Bevora Conglomerate. They are a human, female orientated race who fled Earth as soon as the hyperdrive was available. Essentially, they are a mega rich corporation who has gained enough wealth to buy the Hyperdrive technology, declare themselves a seperate race, and begin to build an entirely new infrastructure. Due to this, the Bevorians often prefer to do business with other races, and attempt to keep the peace in order to keep trade routes open. They will happily sell off th

The individual colony tax rate is a good idea. After all, why should people living on poor quality planets have to pay as much as those living on colonies which are almost like the Garden Of Eden. I would like this optional feature. The break alliances with minor races would be useful as well. It also annoys me when looking at minor races, how it says "we need to spend more money to learn more about this race" when you can't actually put funding into espionage on minor races. Eith

Has anyone actually seen an AI start an alliance with another AI? Or has anyone ever been approached by an AI to become allies? The only alliances I've ever had in games are ones that I myself have instigated.

There is a planetary improvement (Hall Of Empathy I believe, attainable by aligning with Good) which gives you a 50% bonus in the chance that another race will surrender their planets to you. Apart from that, I think it depends on their current diplomatic status. They'll surrender to the enemy of their enemy in hope that that race will eventually conquer the people who conquered them. It may also depend on which race they are closet to at the time.

Would be even better if it was Napoleon Dynamite. The Terrans would all wear moon boots and say "Dang" everytime A Drengin ship appeared on the scanner. Of course, it would also be tradition for your uncle to come over and eat all your steak.

I had this event before where I was asked to join in a war against the Korx with the Arceans and Altarians. Unfortunately, I couldn't join in the action as I was engaged in my own slog against the Drengin (I was playing as Drath). I've also noticed that other civs can be quite cowardly at times. I tried my best to get some of the civs that I was friendly or close with, to come and help my struggle against the Drengin. Not a single one offered any type of help, nor could I even pers

Usually around 5-6 game years on the level I play at, and I have the technology rate set to normal. If I make the tech tree faster, and if I play militaristically, it can last around 3 years because I quickly research weapons and then blow everyone out of the water.

Interesting. I'd love to make my own random events for the game. I might start work on that. I've experienced the Ranger class ship before. I had a very lucky custom race who found at least four of these on seperate occasions, pretty early on in the game. I was able to subdue a lot of other races that way.

That was a brilliant gameplay example. Although it wasn't clear which race you were I'm guessing you were the Thalan.. Looking forward to seeing more of this, loving the screenshots.

I played this game for about 6 months. I was very impressed at first at the sheer scale of the game, and the amount of people in one server. I believe they just broke the 8 or 9k barrier whilst I was playing. Anyone know the maximum number of people they've ever had playing at once? I bet it's miles more than when I played it. Although I enjoyed Eve, I soon got bored through the overall lack of content and the time it takes to get anything done. Once you have your battleship, the

I was just wondering what random events other players have run into during their games. It seems that every game I discover something new in terms of random events, so I thought it might be interesting to find out what others have found. One particulary funny one I encountered, was when my scientists discovered a way to resurrect the dead. Although they came back to life, they were only capable of a small number of tasks and had no higher brain functions (essentially zombies). I wa

I like the idea of Stars going supernova. Perhaps the stars with uninhabitable planets could become unstable at random points during the game, and essentially, explode, wiping out any starbases and ships in the vicinity. This wouldn't happen with stars that have habitable planets on, for the sake of fairness. Often, the stars on the map without habitable planets are displayed in different colours such as Blue, Green and Deep Orange. These are the ones that could have the potentia

I would suggest building your influence starbases next to enemy planets which are on your borders. These starbases will expand your influence into their territory, meaning that your influence area should start to cover their planets. Provided you expand your starbases enough with extra constructors, you should soon see their planets flipping over to your side. A great way to take over planets without the need for conflict.

That does seem like the case as you would expect the higher AI levels to obliterate the Torians in terms of strategy, but what kind of bonuses did the Torians have on their planets? Did they immediately gather up a lot of resources? I suppose these could have been factors into why they became so powerful. You could possibly excuse the Dregin defeat as they were busy fighting with you. Still, I think the Arceans should have been able to hold them off.

I've just started a new game, and I had far more trouble with the Torians than I did in my OP. I started a gigantic map, on challenging, with abundant planets. For starters, I decided to play as the Drengin for a change (from my experience, the Drengin and Torians ALWAYS start a war with each other pretty quickly). I had taken control of the bottom area of the map, and had many planets under my control. Anyway, as soon as the colony rush was over, the Torians first ac
